I don't think they do that, and even if they did, it's not a good idea because your shipment has to go through customs, which means you have to pay a tax roughly 21% of the value of the product and shipment combined

I live in Puerto Rico and we couldn't buy Macs because Best buy came here in the end of 2007 and before 2000 there weren't any resellers (they are called modernica). And Apple doen't have any retail stores and the still don't let us buy online!!! We were stuck with PC's!!!

It simply depends on what you're doing. If you wanna be checking your email, word processing, maybe some moderate gaming and/or HD rendering, a 2.8 GHz would be more than enough. If you're a creative professional, though, who runs intense applications all the time, you may notice better performance with the 3.06.

I personally would assume you'd be happy with a 2.8 GHz and would never regret saving $300.

Here's another tip on how to get a lot of discount as a student.

You can go to apple and subscribe for the ADC student membership (it works almost all over the world). It'll cost 99 dollars or 80 euros but then it'll allow you to have 20% discount on a every pro-edition of macs (macbookpro and a mac pro) and like 10% on the normal iMacs and macbooks. MBP was ca. 2100 euros, and I got it for ca. 1675 (+ 80 euros). That's a huge discount!
