7:51 - Music, when in becoming as it is here, is at its most suggestive and powerful. You can find many passages like this in all Bruckner's symphonies but especially - from memory - in 4,8,9 and the passage just before the coda of I - 6. This is another example of what people call Bruckner "verticality", emerging from the abyss and projecting you to the greatest heights.
Bruckners Musik ist die Krönung schlechthin der musikalischen Schöpfung.Nur wer viel Liebe und Leiden schon erfahren hat, kann erst wirklich diese Symphonien verstehen und richtig würdigen...
I couldn't agree more. A masterpiece performed in a venue of Bruckner's own choosing - by arguably the one conductor who could best understand this particular work - and by the one orchestra (apart from the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam) most suited to and understanding of Bruckner's particular sound and expression.
Unfortunately, with the 10 minute time limit, alot of people listen to the first segment of a work and then donèt bother to click over to the next. Iève seen a few videos that are up to 30 minutes, but Ièm not sure how they go about getting them uploaded. Watch for it though. With most of the great music that lasts more than 10 minutes, people only watch the first segment.
.... speechless

This is absolutely one of the greatest performances of this piece. The best Bruckner conductor+the best Bruckner orchestra!
Thank you for uploading!

I love the passage from 5:32 to 6:23. The brass, espacially the trombones, are absolutely amazing.
I'never heard such a majestic, powerful and well-ülayed trombone sound since Karajans version of Dvoraks Ninth.

I've probably heard Wand conduct this the most, ...great performance here. I bet Karajna's 4th is superb.

It is not exactly music for the masses. So feel privileged.
