  • ...@1:01 be careful Five O'clock Charlie is STILL trying to bomb those crazy meatball surgeons!...

  • I did this hike around Thanksgiving. Absolutely loved the hike and loved the park. The MASH site definitely needs more stuff though. They cleared it up a bit and there's a shack there now, but a recreation of the MASH site would be amazing.

  • MASH is one of those shows that should never end

  • i would love it if they made a permanent recreated set because MASH was such a timeless show and movie and this is comeing fro a teen too thats saying something

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing it.

  • After they finished filming, they left a good portion of the set there since it couldn't be easily transported. However the old set was destroyed in a wild fire in 1988.

  • I wish they could rebuild a replica of the set. I would be keen enough to fly from australia to see it

  • the fire in the last episode was real thats why they had to end it early

  • Northern Nevada looks alot like Korea

  • i love rattle snakes

  • Just watched the final episode on TV Land on Memorial Day. Quite fitting, even for a fictional show. Seen it many times, but it never fails to bring a tear to my eye. A salute to all those who serve and who have served.

  • there is nothing, but joy out in the wild. I did that hike by chance today and it was awesome.

  • I did the trip in early October. It was really hot, close to 100 degrees. I tried not to touch the metal of the rusty truck and jeep, you could have fried an egg on them.

I saw a few tiny lizzards and a rattle snake. These are nothing to worry about, because they are more scared of you than you of them!

  • Cool vid! This is a great day trip......take your time, and enjoy the beauty, and reliving M*A*S*H*. I didn't get any ticks, and didn't see/hear any rattlesnakes......thank goodness.

  • I really hope that I can go here this year if I go up to Oregon to visit people

  • well whadda ya know korea is in california!

  • i didn't realize the set was still there let alone you can visit it . thats going to be on my list

  • loving the media player every day that i get to use it. Getting all the oldies but goodies back again!

  • thanks for sharing this

  • Dude, why didnt they leave all the camps and items intact?? Even an old, beat up helicopter would make this a MUST visit!! It would've been an exellent Tourist attraction!!! Ant yes the music makes it VERY sad cuz I TOO, LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! Im very bummed out..

  • @kraziezombie The original set burned to the ground during a forest fire that went throught the Malibu Hills....

  • @kraziezombie Some of the tents were left, but they burned in a 1984 forest fire.

  • @kraziezombie They did leave some of the set their, but it burned down in a forest fire in 1984

  • @umahuma4 Thanks guys for the update... Its very sad to know that a damn fire caused so much damage to such a fanbase.... And i mean emotional damage... Im buying all the seasons one at a time just for support to this great cast... Its funny that most of my friends hate this show, like i did once... But after watching a few more shows, it becomes part of you... Like u've known every character for so long..I guess its just me...

  • What a great job you did!

  • you fools, although the joint idea does sound fun, but going by show standards both options of Brandy or the J is sacrilige. For the escence of it, drink GIN, and i hate gin, but would do it, plus pour a little on the ground in memory to all of those that made my childhood w/ this wonderful show. 100% truth, not even a single day goes by that I don't watch at least 3 or 4 episodes. have the whole collection and listen to cetain DVDs every night as I go to bed. Even married a Mashaholic like me

  • nice video

  • I love the simplicity of how you put this together.

  • The day I graduate I'm driving across the country (I reside in FL) just to hike that trail. My friends will probably think I'm crazy... they probably right. :3

  • Harry Morgan in great new bio (Charlton Heston: An Incredible Life: Revised Edition) for sale at amazon!

  • The music made me sad. T^T

  • Beutiful Irridescent , i hope you do and vid it

  • Can anyone hike there? Do they have guided hike??

  • I'm only 40 minutes away, here in Hollywood,.. I should go smoke a joint there.

  • Fool, that would be sacrilige. Brandy would be better.

    this is a reply.

  • my dream is to learn to play Suicide is Painless on my violin and hike up there with it and play the song.

  • @Irridescent I want to do that but with my alto saxophone

  • it's nice that they didn't do something stupid like re-make the set up there, it's best left, I think, alone. Makes it a more special experience.

  • It's in Malibu Creek State Park, NOT the City of Malibu.

  • oh ok I gotcha now:)

    thanks again for your help

  • where is the mash set exactly?

    what city is it in?

    thanks

  • Los Angelas. Malibu

  • thanks

which city though? los angelas or malibu?

    thanks again

  • Um, Malibu is a small community IN Los Angelas county. So technically it's filmed in the city of Malibu.

  • Very well done, I'm 39 years old and I have been watching it from the start. They just don't make shows like that one any longer. I even watch the Show call After Mash, but that didn't do as well as the first one.

    Len,

    Pottstown, Pa.

  • I watched After Mash too. It wasn't really the same.

  • The jeep and the truck were burned in a brush fire when they were just about done filming the last show

  • I have loved this show and own all of it on DVD. What a TV show, the best comical, sad and factual show ever.

  • I love MASH, I am 14 and my dad introduced me to MASH and now I have been watching it happily for the past 3 or 4 years maybe.

  • Im 17 and my mom got me into it when I was around 10 years old, I LOVE the show!

  • I so so so want to go there!

  • im gonna ride my bicycle to this site from my home in antarctica

  • *tear* fogive me I grew up with MASH so finding out the site is still around is quite...well quite heart warming.

  • I've been to this site and it's quite a hike! Very difficult to get a good feel for what was where unless you've really done your homework. Nature sure has taken it back! Well worth the effort for any true M*A*S*H fan!

  • Hello There´s:

    @markdroberts: Very intersting.

    Thanks a lot for sharing!

  • cool. I wish i lived there so i could go there

  • can you ride your horse through this trail?

  • Neat vid, thanks. I always though it was funny they used Malibu canyons to duplicate Korea, but oh well. Frank Burns for President!

  • Raiders of the Lost M.A.S.H.

  • Did you do the voice for the video? Because its really good. You should be a professional narrator!

  • Really good video. Thx for posting it.

  • When I get back to Cally, I'll do this hike. By the sound of the click, I'd guess your camera is a Canon Elph 800 series.

  • I been meaning to go...thanks for the video

  • I talked to a guy who said to me if you visit the visiter center there are a few props from the show Jeep, Ambulance and other stuff so if anyone goes there go and look at what the center has from the show and maybe take lots and lots of pictures.

  • I hope this isn't affected by the wildfires at a disasterous rate.

  • I plan to visit there someday. Can't wait to see the helicopter pad as well. Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed it.

  • thanks for posting. I had assumed that this area had been paved & housing been built there, along with retail and other businesses.

  • Thank you that was great to know we can visit the old 4077th site.

  • Thanks for posting this! I had NO idea you could hike to the M*A*S*H set or that it was in a state park or the like. I will do that next time I am out visiting my brother in CA.

  • I would like to go there.Thnx for posting this material.

  • MASH might just be the best television show ever produced.

  • wow no i have to take my friends there ^_^ can you say road trip! lol

  • Sad it look desserted.

    I miss MASH.

  • I hike there alot. Right off the 101. The helicopter landing pad is still there as well.

  • I would like to take the hike there, it would be nice to be where MASH was made....

  • {Con't} I'm only asking all this because there's not much of a chance of me getting there myself lol.. M*A*S*H was, and still is, the best show ever! Thanks for the video!...

  • was the fire you speak of the same fire that restricted the filming of the series finale back in Feb. of 1983? I would assume most things would still be there a year after, when you took your first hike... Are there any signs of labeling or lisence plates on the jeep/ other vehicles? Were there/are there any other remnants of the filming/show lying/scattered around?

  • Was that the same jeep that Klinger ate?

  • Thanks for the video.

  • Maybe someday there will be a comdey about a Medic unit or MASH unit is a war. And Some of us that want to act and do comedy

  • oh ok that's a relief :)

  • I'm planning to go there but now im worried about those rattlesnakes you mentioned lol (i have terrible luck) snakes why'd it have to be snakes lol

  • Chances are good that you won't see a snake. But if you keep your eyes open, you have nothing to worry about if you stay on the trail. Mostly the trail is quite wide and easily seen.

  • @TheUnderking In winter, or anytime it's even a little chilly, snakes can barely move, so they do not venture out. If it's below about 50 degrees you will never see a snake, and if you do, it will be VERY slow and docile.

  • Gosh I miss Mash, I wish they could still be rolling.

  • Dear hotlips4life, yep, it was lovely; drama, great lines and characters ya cared about. Where's it all gone? Shot to hell with Frank's Field Mouse promotion.

  • wow.... that show meant so much to me, i wish i could have been in your shoes to be there... Thank you markdroberts

  • Dear crowbarred, it was a very comfortable show, with great Groucho Marx style lines. What a theme! A TV show better than the movie...I miss few things from my teenage years, but MASH is one of them.

  • are the places they live in and worked at still there

  • No. They were burned in a fire many years ago. When I first hiked to the set in 1984 many of the buildings were there.

  • Wonderful...

  • I like that intro where it slowly pans into the mountains. They shouldn't done that on the show.
