If you want to learn how to make good coffee the pratical way look at countries that have been doing it for decades, i.e. e.g. Italians. I'm shure you wouldn't imagine a Brit going to all that trouble to have a good cup of tea... This is coffee for nerds.
@fmpapt wow .. what a ignorant specimen you really are. i employ coffee brewing methods from all around the world including turkey.italy france etc.. plenty of brits go to the trouble of making a great cup of coffee.these are usualy the ones with a few more brain cells than you and they can spell the word SURE (shure lol) i would rather be a nerd with a great tasting cup of coffee than a fool without a clue...case closed
@tubular167 OK, no problem, in what language do you want to have this discussion? If a spelling mistake didn't give you a clue that I'm not using my mother tongue I can only say thanks for the compliment. Who's the ignorant now?
@tubular167 well at least I got you trying to write in foreign language, keep going, the force is strong in you... Another 100 comments and you'll get somewhere. And may even be able to impress some ladies, or guys, who knows? Tentaste responder em espanhol não sei porquê, mas de qualquer forma os teus insultos não estão gramaticalmente correctos.
@tubular167 OK, Thanks. Hope you've learned your lesson though! Esse teu nome tubular deve-se referir aos teus brinquedos, e 165 aposto que está relacionado com o diametro.
It may take a bit longer but I pour hot water into an inverted aeropress, leave it for 30-45 seconds to warm it up, dump out the water and then make your pull. You wouldn't pull espresso through a cold machine; same idea. Important to warm up the aeropress first or else possibly run the risk of making the coffee slightly more bitter than intended.
@remdawgification yes i completely agree..i always warm the aeropress first with hot water..just did not mention it here as there are so many other variables with coffee brewing that i could make a 1 hour video..i am just giving the basics here..it is up to a coffee lover to research properly if he is really interested in achieving the perfect brew....incidently since making this video i now let the beans bloom for around 35 seconds with half the water before adding the rest ..
Well I tried a coarser grind for a 2min steep time. Inverted of course. Wet the filter. I also upped the temperature of the water to the 185-195'F range. I notice the coffee is not as strong as my older regular 20sec fine grind method.
Most people said the 2min coarse grind method produces a powerful cup but I did not notice this. I'll have to do a bit more experimenting with my grinder since the aeropress is unique in that small differences in grind make a big difference in flavor.
I actually looked up the science to the inverted method. The reason is because the bloom of the coffee/water slurry is at the top. With the regular method this bloom would be the last part to get filtered through the coffee puck. By inverting it's the first thing to get ejected into your cup. One site also recommended using a polyester felt filter instead of the standard paper ones. And they actually extracted the bloom inverted unlike your method that just stirs inverted but plunges normal
@gondo01 you could go on all day about how various methods achieve differant results.i am well aware about the bloom and the other types of filters that can be used....as long as you wash the paper filter through first then you will not get any adverse affect.also extracting the bloom first is not good for people who have bad hearts .my method is an all round one that can be used by anyone without adverse affects and also without having to buy extra type of filters.
We'll I looked it up and wetting the filter first makes it so the filter can not absorb the flavourful oils of the coffee. A dry filter would absorb this.
As for the bloom I looked it up also. Apparently you wet the cofee and it will bloom form the CO2 escaping. Once complete you can add the rest of the water and brew. But how is this bad for your heart?
@gondo01 the actual inventor of the aeropress himself said that the bloom is bad for the heart..it is because of the oils contained which are very powerful
he would proberbly not condone the inverted method because of this
the inverted method gives you more time to let the bloom take affect as you are not losing any coffee through the filter.if you watch a few more inverted videos you will find other reasons why it is better
the oils give the coffee a richer flavour.this does not happen otherwis
I'm also wondering how preparing the cofee inverted, but plunged normally is an advantage? The only difference I can see it makes is that when mixing normally some coffee drips through the filter. When inverted you get no drip until you plunge. Is this why you mix inverted?
My wife gave birth while you made 1 cup of coffee. She was only 6 months pregnant, that's how long it took you.
Too much science. Scoop the coffee, mic the water to the right temp and add, stir and plunge. Your water was way too hot. It only takes a 10sec steep, 10sec stir then plunge.
@gondo01 i have been making coffee for 40 years with every method you could imagine as i like to get the very best out of the experience.i have used lots of differant methods with the aeropress and have found my method to give the best flavour and coffee experience.
if you would like to keep driving a robin reliant instead of a porche then this is your choice
i in turn like to get the most from my coffee and will always use the best method no matter how long it takes.
Thanks for taking the time to make the video, but I had two cups of extremely delicious Aeropress coffee while I waited for you to make one cup. This inverted things is soooooooo overly complicated. I get a creme with nearly every cup I make according to the manufacturer. And I use a wonderful three-bean blend including 2 types of 100% Kona and one organic Peruvian bean. Not sure why you say it's important that we DON'T use a blend??
Thank you for sharing your method, great video.

@gondo01 you say that my water was way to hot..this is not true.the optimum tenp is around 85% F and i always go for around that
leaving the boiling water in a open glass for 75 seconds will achieve that
i did not have time to explain everything in a short video.there are loads of variables
after weeks of experimenting with the science i concluded my way to be the best taste
i am trying to help ppl with my video to get a better experience and not just an argument about brewing methods
