@brongracz It was all recycled paper and the printed bills are being recycled during the conference in numerous clever ways. A shame you lost concentration so soon....wait, what? Oooooh look, shiny!
What i meant was that they didnt draw on the paper and then flipped it through the money counter - the made the animation in the computer, printed them out on the cards and then flipped it through the counter. This is just too easy to do - its not about the idea - its about how its done...
Some of the most iconic posters are just type and geometric shapes. Does that make good design "too easy"?
The designers evidently decided to push for a more polished look rather than a hand drawn look. Neither production style is inherently "better," it's about what is more appropriate for conveying the message.
@monochromed If you think that this was easy to create, we did our job perfectly. The fact of the matter is that our teams came up with a unique concept, created custom elements to satisfy the brief, animated the assets in different ways, printed them out and animated them again. You're welcome to attempt the same thing; but for this concept, we satisfied the brief and had a lot of fun in the process. To the majority of our viewers the message a lot more important than how we did it.
Sorry guys but i think its kind of lame, they just made an animation in Flash or whatever, printed it out and let it flip through the machine...idea is good but with real hand animation this would be a lot nicer... imho
@monochromed You're missing the basic concept behind the video. The conference is all about design currency and the value of design. The animation is done on a money counter. Make sense now?
Good work!! And I think Design Currency is a great theme for Icograda Conference. I'm interested in knowing how they can come up with convincing arguments about the value of design.
Likely no more than your average, busy office center goes through in 1-2 minutes but far and away better quality in design and planning. On the scale of things an utterly insignificant, renewable expenditure.
@yhuangj1 Wasn't only me, this project wouldn't have gotten off of the ground if not for the great concept/identity done by Rethink... as well as the countless hours on set with Giant Ant Media. It was too much fun to make!
Thank you to Rethink, Giant Ant Media and Wave Productions for producing this promo animation short in support of Design Currency: Icograda Design Week in Vancouver 2010.
Great job expressing the conference theme in video!
