@alonzo9772 -The USDA, the only entity which has been given the authority to enforce the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) does a poor job. They have some good inspectors but the higher -ups, unfortunately, don't want to enforce the law.

As you should know, if as you say you worked in the circus for a long time, there is no such thing as an isolated instance of cruelty. It is daily and systematic. Of course what I see as abuse, (beating, chaining, caging and depriving animals of any semblance of a natural life), you see as an expression of love by the "trainer." You should be so loved.

I don't think that these isolated incident's are ok. that's why more often than not these people are fired on the spot(especially in Ringling ) I have friends that have african lions in their home no abuse there. As you should know, if as you say you worked in the circus for a long time, there is no such thing as an isolated instance of cruelty. It is daily and systematic. @genbeauty17 I work many places with animals including with my own. worked a pony ride with 10 pony's who were lovingly cared for every day brushed, and fed. I don't think that these isolated incident's are ok. that's why more often than not these people are fired on the spot(especially in Ringling ) I have friends that have african lions in their home no abuse there. I've owned many exotic pets, no abuse. I pray for people like you who talk about things they don't know about.

Untill you have interacted with any of these beast's you have no room to talk about what you think you learned from a book. however they are not tortured, positive reinforcement is the rule. however sometimes something a little more forceful is called for.

@patcuvie wrong your attendance numbers are way off. and there is no such thing as a circus without animals by definition. read books about phillip astly, and how it was literally built on the backs of animals. madison square gardens is full 6 weeks on end 3 times a day. 3*7*6*25,000=3,150,000 in manhattan disagree with you, along with another 2million in other dates right around nyc within a 2 month period. total out of 8.3 million people 62 % attend that one circus alone being ringling .

There are over 300 million people in the US. Ringling claims 12 million people a year attend their circus. Assuming this figure is not inflated and liberally granting another 3 million in attendance for smaller animal circuses that is only 15 million people. 5% of the US population. A very small minority. The vast majority of Americans have left behind circuses with animals. Cirque Du Soleil's attendance far exceeds Ringling's. Circuses without animals are future of circuses, like it or not.

@circusboy90210 circuses traditionally do not stay in one place another disqualifier. circuses have animals in them to not have them is another disqualifier. cirque de soleil has not the capacity in their actual circus tent to do any amount of attendance in the actual circus operations. again you fail. traveling 335 days a year ringling easily out performs , they are the largest private entertainment company on the planet. acual us #'s closer to 75 million many in attendance are free tickets.

@patcuvie post a link can guarantee you these are not company figures. the tiger cages are bigger than that and not ringling property they are property of a sub contractor whos pets they are. not generally kept in parking lots , chained for public safety. tigers are never whipped. you don't even know the structure of ringling or who the shareholders are. what type of corporation etc.... again you fail miserably. a whip to a wild animal does not the same thing it does to you. it is tickling.

People who may be well meaning but who pay good money to any circus company like this to see their shows, and anyone who cares about animals in general, has a right to know about the abuse that goes into the performances but which is, hardly surprisingly, shielded from their view.
