Dan Lanois puts so much heart into his music. Had Acadie decades ago, loved it then but just re-discovered him with Here is What Is and now collecting all his work. I'll admit I caught the song from an episode of house. But I didn't return to it until a late night studying. Took a smoke break and heard the lyrics echoing in my head, so I youtubed this very video after googling the lyrics to see who it was. Needless to say Lanois is amazing. His style strikes so many nodes in me that I find myself coming back to his music when ever I feel the current moment will bring nostalgia when I look back; almost as if I want to mark it with an audible scent. I do disagree in part though that House made him. He was around long before House, playing memorable music and producing some of the world's biggest musical acts.

While I won't argue the Pavese's quote i will say that love also reveals the things that are best about humanity. Courage, honesty, forgiveness, altruism and sacrifice are born of love (in my opinion). Learn from the pain if and when you can, for that is the meaning of life. Love and learn, every day. Please don't become jaded love is out there.

Depends on what you mean by great, of course by promoting the bands we get the best bands never heard and we open our eyes to new things, however, the chances of finding MP3 downloadable copies of some rare things are much lower, but in theroy I agree completely with you.

Here 'cause of House too. I am glad tv shows use less-known (but much talented) artists a chance and help out indie artists instead of using all those crappy pop songs that got played on radio a thousand times.
