@marcmitchell He use ARP Oddesey for the main sounds of the album and that is what the nice lead sound is from. The is something on YouTube called Synth Britanis and has all the synthpop starts taling about equipment, Vince Clarke, John Fox, Daniel Miller (Mute Records) are all on there.

It was the mindset of the time...punk had shocked the glam and progressive rock dominated scene and now it was thought (I got the same stick when I got my first moog) that these machines played themselves and all you had to do was stand there and look like a prick. I'm not so sure about polymoog. It's been used in videoclips and playback appearances. But Foxx, in metamatic studio album played Arp odyssey, arp sequencer, elka rhapsody, roland jupiter 8, minimoog, electric bass, roland CR-78 drum machine, phaser, flanger. Nothing else.

Polymoog, cs80, micromoog...all of this different stuff appears only on videoclips, and maybe on post-metamatic albums.
