He was moving way up in weight after fighting in a number of very close fights. Cotto was the first legitimate opponent manny fought at a higher weight, and he won the first round.
margarito was another step up in size, and mosley was really the first black american fighter manny had ever fought. Manny's last few fights have been boring, but he isn't being a total cherrypicker. I don't think he or freddie likes being called a coward. He's had a slow patch lately but I wouldn't be surprised if that ends soon unless he retires.

Pacquiao kept Marquez back throughout the round and landed his straight left frequently to Marquez's body. Whenever Marquez tried to counter, Pacquiao either stepped back to make him miss, or blocked it.

If the scoring is by amateur boxing scoring Marquez could have won both fights because Marquez landed more jabs and punches all throughout the fight, especially in Round 8 of the second fight. Amateur boxing is based on the accumulated points.
Professional boxing scoring is by rounds... by doing so Marquez will not have a chance to win in their 2 fights of Pacquiao because of the knockdowns. There is an additional point for each knockdown. Actually, Pacquiao should have won the first fight instead of a draw because one judge made a mistake in adding 2 points instead 3 points for the 3 knockdowns.

@keitrie..Pac can be out boxed and that's why JMM has won more rounds in this fight and the first fight. Pac won because of the knockdowns and I don't take that away from him. If you knock a guy down you get more points..a 10-8 round. However it is clear how to box Pac. Counter, lateral movement and a good straight right hand. None of which Oscar, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey or Margarito have...none of em. That's why the Floyd fight has to happen. That'll be the true test for both fighters.

Pacquiao kept Marquez back throughout the round and landed his straight left frequently to Marquez's body. Whenever Marquez tried to counter, Pacquiao either stepped back to make him miss, or blocked it.

Watching this leaves no doubt that pacman is on something...his hand speed wasn't nearly as fast as it is now...How can someone with such a small frame hand speed and punching power increase with age and weight...not too mention his activity and punch output has increased since this fight. The rounds the Pacquiao won were too close but the rounds that Marquez won were obviously for Marquez... but still scoring it based on professional boxing scoring Marquez would not win both fights ... at the most he could is a draw which he luckily got the first fight. Judges are humans who may make mistakes but if you will watch the 2 fights over and over again and score them by professional boxing scoring you will end up agreeing with my observation.

If the scoring is by amateur boxing scoring Marquez could have won both fights because Marquez landed more jabs and punches all throughout the fight, especially in Round 8 of the second fight. Amateur boxing is based on the accumulated points.

Professional boxing scoring is by rounds... by doing so Marquez will not have a chance to win in their 2 fights of Pacquiao because of the knockdowns. There is an additional point for each knockdown. Actually, Pacquiao should have won the first fight instead of a draw because one judge made a mistake in adding 2 points instead 3 points for the 3 knockdowns.
