I'm all in favour of an independent Cornwall but...who will pay for the wall, border guards etc? And what of Devon? Will you trade by sea? Do you have enough trade when you are 'free'? Remember all the second home ratfinks will desert you very quickly indeed, and how will you encourage tourists? And would the Scilly Isles join you? Anyway good luck.
Good 'un Lad! 'as tha ever bin ter whailes? I 'ave, and I still can't trype proper although one's Mambered around Crowden.......I think I once visited Gooderluck once, but I do remember Badgers Mount!
Hmmm, a good story, but largely untrue....a sizeable group of Cornishmen did set out for London to protest at the imprisonment of Bishop Trelawney (plus 6 more).....but they only got as far as Bristol before news reached them that he and the rest of them had been tried and acquitted.....this was in 1688, year of the glorious revolution. It has been suggested that so soon after the civil war, Cornwall could not have mustered so many men anyway . Great song though....full of defiance and spirit.
We are circulating a petition calling on the government to recognise the Cornish as a National minority. It has been created by a Cornish person who is not a member of any political party or organisation but who is very concerned at what is happening in Cornwall. Please sign it and pass it on to your friends. We want to protect what there is left before all is lost !:

I am Cornish but i personally hate this anthem we need a new one soon which is more up to date and also more radical and more political in short we need an anthem to HIT HOME. this song is just old and quaint and not relevent anymore. time to change it...sorry folks but i do not sing it BUT I am very pro cornish. I am sure if i were Irish I would hate "danny boy" a similar type of song.
I was there for the singing in Helston in 2004 (visiting for Dehwelans). The singing of Trelawney for several hundred in the streets on Flora day was just awesome. I had never felt so much national pride in my life (Canadians can come close).
@BlackCountryPuddler St george was turkish origin..I am confused?? and the english flag was created by the normans.....set back progressive law for several hundred years lol
@3tangle3 They're singing about ethnic destruction. The English and their Turkish Saint and Norman Flag forcing a small minority of Celts to speak their language, pay their taxes and live by their laws. Just because a minority is small doesn't mean it doesn't have a right to exist, just means it is easier to destroy.

I am quite jealous of Cornwall's sense of national (Cornish) pride. I wish we were like that in Somerset....
Cornwall for me is the most beautiful part of Europe
