is silver still a precious metal? why would silver be used as money when there is now digital gold? historically, the gold/silver value ration has increased over time.
Hey, know you're busy VV, but do chickens... (oh, say 5 or 6 of them), smell real bad? I've never kept them before, but have the room and was thinking about it.
I've just heard some people say they're as bad as pigs, but think they were talking in large numbers.
AIG, the insurance giant that is 80-percent owned by the US govt, is in discussions with the government to secure additional funds so it can keep operating after next Monday, when it will report the largest loss in U.S. corporate history, CNBC has learned.
Sources close to the company said the loss will be near $60 B due to writedowns on a variety of assets including commercial real estate.
OMG Coultrane... maybe we should have given them more? (sarcastically speaking)
I feel like laughing hysterically, but then I think of my poor 2 yr old, ...and someday his children, that will be paying for this. Ouch... It's really weird when you get this vision of even the wealthy hurting.
Outside advisers to the U.S. Treasury have started lining up the largest bankruptcy loan ever, talking with banks and other lenders about at least $40 B in financing for GM. and Chrysler , in case the two auto makers need it.
Still, people involved in talks with senior Obama administration officials said that the administration believes that the option of Chapter 11 filings by the two auto makers needs to be seriously considered.
Obama administration trying to avoid bank nationalizations
NEW YORK - Federal regulators said Monday they will launch a revamped program to shore up the nation's troubled banks that includes the option of increasing government ownership in financial institutions.
When the govt. nationalizes BAC which devoured the rotting corpse of Countrywide and Merrill Lynch, they'll be stuck in a swamp of debt so deep and large that it will collapse the U.S. $.
Not that long ago I remember BAC ceo saying this was going to make them so much stronger in the long run best move they could make, lol and I say again lol
I only put cash in the bank for the purposes of covering checks. I call it non participation. Guess what happened next. The bank sent me a notice, a rather pissy one at that, stating that I'll be charged 20 dollars EVERY TIME my balance drops below 100 dollars. Now my balance reads 100.01.
They are dangling the carrot. First we were not in a recession, then there was going to be a 1st half recovery, then by end of 2009. Now growth is expected for 2010.
Anyone spot a trend? The only trend I see is one of lying.
Whatever they say double the timeframe. It almost always ends up being that anyway. When the finally say no recovery until 2015, you will know we are at bottom.
Protest in Ireland of government handling of economy (CNN) -- Hundreds of thousands of workers filled the streets of Dublin on Saturday to protest the government response to Ireland's economic downturn.
Up to 120,000 people attended the peaceful demonstration that included a march from Parnell Square to Merrion Square, Dublin police said. No arrests were made, police said.
The people of Ireland are PISSED! In the words of one protestor, "There is absolute burning vitriol that we feel at the savage way they have hit the most vulnerable in society."
That is because they are allowing the super wealthy to walk while they slash the living standards of the people on the bottom of the economic ladder.
Not a chance, look at the macro-data. Even if consumers just cut back 5% and start saving its sucks 480 billion from the economy. It's over, i assure you. By the way the fed happens to have the worst record when it comes to prediction.
the dow is still higher than it was 8 years ago! and houses are still priced 50% higher than 10 years ago! We overbuilt, oversold morgages, overpriced! thats it. Dont buy gold, it's hype just like houses were 6 years ago!
Actually the dow is around 1997 levels, and houses are still over priced. It doesn't even hit the radar when you count up the people buying gold. In fact, more people are buying houses in a housing collapse than people buying gold.
Chinese Regime Covers Up Foot and Mouth Disease Outbreak
By Gu Qinger and Gu Yunyin
Epoch Times Staff Feb 21, 2009
"On Jan. 21, 2009 Chinas Agriculture Ministry notified the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) about an outbreak of FMD virus type A in the Wuhan region on Jan.13, and an outbreak of FDM type Asia I in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Jan.14."
This is what Homeland Security, Fema, and WHO and CDC are preparing for, especially the Avian Flu... Georgia on my mind!
(MarketWatch) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wrapped up a state visit to China Sunday by urging her hosts to continue to invest in U.S. Treasury instruments according to published reports. "It would not be in China's interest if we were unable to get our economy moving again," Clinton said in an interview with a Chinese television journalist, according to reports.
The US has resorted to begging & threatning a communist country for money. Sad.
The real opportunity of investment in China is the opportunity to "legally" and "cleanly" take advantage of Slave labor—and isn't exploiting cheap labor slavery?
Some argue that if it weren't for the West's investment, those workers wouldn't even earn the low salaries they get now. That is both presumptuous and morally wrong.
DONT BUY Chinese Products. They are Poisonous and produced in the Most Brutal and Inhumane ways in the Human world.
China does not Support the USA. Its the other way round my friend. The corrupt officials have sold out the American spirit for a Communist Controlled Institutionalized Slavery System in China under the CCP rule. We need to BUY AMERICAN, PRODUCE AMERICAN. Turn to more of our Democratic Allied nations for trade like India and Japan and Taiwan.
DO NOT INVEST IN CHINA. DO NOT BUY GOODS FROM CHINA. STOP MAKING CHINA "FAVORITE NATION STATUS".
One comment about the manifesto site, I can never figure out what's new. It's confusing to navigate and although I often find a link or video clip I liked, overall the site is difficult to get anything out of. Hopefully that's taken as constructive criticism which is how it was meant.
Can't wait for more vids. This week is going to be really exciting.
Just got back from AZ, will post several vids this week, a lot of data coming out this week that can move markets, especially on Thursday and Friday. :)
I just updated the website, so if you are looking for the latest news check out Visionvictorymanifesto. com
"One can conjecture that most nations still see gold as the ultimate form of payment and therefore holding significant amounts of gold will continue as a last-ditch hedge against economic catastrophe. In times of severe crisis fiat money could be shunned while gold is always likely to be accepted."
The U.S. economy probably contracted at a 5.4 percent annual pace in the fourth quarter, weaker than previously estimated and the worst slump in 26 years, according to the median forecast in a Bloomberg survey.'
My ancestors fought at the gates of Vienna. They came from all around to join in turning back the Asian advance from Turkey into Europe. They left vinyard & farm. Some returned home, others did not. When you read the 400+ year old writing/ journaling of my ancestors, this is what you'll see.....they put faith in their ability to believe in something greater than thier own comfort. In our financial trouble we must put faith in our ability to rise above it. All of us can aleast afford to smile.
They needn't have bothered, there are 54 million muslims already in Europe, and they breed faster then the indigenous people of Europe, or Make love not war, and out breed your enemy. Holland will have become a muslim country in a generation or 25 years, and continental Europe, and Britain and Ireland will be gradually totally islamified, as the 54 million muslims already here and breeding like mad are the vanguard of a silent invasion.
Puzzoozoo - You have hit the nail on the head. I am terrified for the future. Like you I also live in the UK and alarmed about the accelerating change of pace with respect to our culture. Why on earth has our Government allowed such mass migration, The muslims are not intergrating, infact some are demanding their own sharia law. Immigration is fine provided it is well controlled.
It's going to get very ugly in the UK with the ecomonic collapse, trust me there will be racial riots on our streets
"The government announced today that it is changing the national symbol to a condom because it more accurately reflects the governments political stance. mitchee, you are so right my good man. Care, belief, and love for the citizens is the first step. Only a leader would have this in his heart and I suspect that in the years to come you will be one. If not in public then at least to those around you. Well said sir. Well said. Believe/act as one.

Hopeful Signs for Human Rights

i remember visionvictory predicted imminent dollar collapse and hyper-inflation in 2008 lead to bull brown economy collapse 10 months ago. NONE OF THEM took place. well, 2009 is a brand new year and there come he and his crystal ball again.......
my friend, how can you sell Treasuries to an arch enemy? how can your economy survive when 70% of it is built on an institutionalized slavery system?how can an economy survive if the very people leading the way to "fix" the economy are corrupt and greedy?Do you think we are just going to go back to the same old lifestyle? We ARE going in a Depression...We ARE now clear into the beginnings of a Depression that is deemed clearly a Depression that will be Greater than the Great Depression.
Daniel is one of many who have been called, but few chosen, to clarify the truth about the reality of the situation at hand.
We are only in the beginning stages. But as reality unfolds and people face it.... the change will be very radical and terrifying for many, but a blessing for humanity. "Suffering is a Blessing"..its a sacrifice the Righteous pay to get what they deserve. The time for denial will soon be over.
in hearing of the current intensity of Irish troubles I can't help but think about their recent 'No' vote in a european referendum, and whether certain faceless and disgruntled eurocrats are busy behind the scenes, enjoying the payback. It's no secret that brussels was annoyed. I have no evidence to back this up but something doesn't feel right.
here in the UK things have taken a sinister twist with a new BoE power that enables it to intervene and prop up troubled banks more swiftly. The bad thing is that such actions can be undisclosed, with no obligation for the BoE to explain what it is doing. This sounds bad to me. BBC quote: 'critics of the act say it throws a cloak of secrecy around the banking world'.
America is being torn apart by this crash, and the cold merciless heart of capiitalism is being clearly seen in the heartless sickening rant of Santelli.
As his fellow GOP savages rejoice in his rant, ordinary Americans will clearly see the depth of greed and depravity that is the reality of the sacred cow of the market.
Stealing my money(= labor = my life) to pay your mortgage because you were irresponsible: THAT IS GREED. Especially when *I* don't even have a home. Sure I could've pulled out a loan and bought one but I knew I couldn't pay the loan back so I didn't. So this stimulus is punishing me for being smart and rewarding the fucking imbeciles who used their house to buy cars and bullshit trinkets. These people are in trouble because of their own greed... there is no justice.
Why do you say I am lucky? I live on the edge of poverty, don't have a car, I don't own any property and I have a mound of hospital debt that I'm paying off slowly. I'm lucky?
I sat back and I watched everyone drive these nice cars and have all this nice stuff that none of them could afford while I struggle to survive within my means. Justice would be making those irresponsible people give back what they can't pay for. Instead now *I* have to pay for something they bought but couldnt afford
In retrospect I should have just done the irresponsible thing like everyone else. Then I'd have a car and a house and education and everything right now; paid for by everyone else. It wouldn't have been fair (and IT ISNT FAIR) but I sincerely thought all that stuff was gonna get repossessed when the delinquent owners couldn't pay their debt for it.
I dont mean to attack you...sorry if I have hurt you.
But your position will not improve by blaming your neighbours. They will lose their shirts in this collapse - we all will probably. Look beyond your neighbourhood and see how your whole world has been an engineered illusion - a matrix of lies. Wall St. gamblers have destroyed America. You will need your neighbours in the coming troubles.
peace, i understand where you are coming from. I'm not mad at my neighbors, just their selfish and materialistic behavior that we all must pay for now. I'm mad at the government for playing God, and I'm mad at myself for allowing myself to be exploited. Wall St. hasn't destroyed america... Americans have destroyed america. I don't blame capitalism and I don't believe socialism is the solution... i agree, we have to stop trusting politicians and corporations and build new social structures.
But it is Wall St.'s gambling debts and reckless banking practices that have landed America in the 60+ trillion hole it is in.
Dont blame ordinary folk who were duped by the constant tv ads and offers of cheap credit. Americans are bombarded with wall to wall propaganda 24/7 - how any of you can think straight at all is a wonder.
And you were duped into Iraq as well.
Wall St. has usurped Wasington.
The bankers have bankrupted all the nations of the world.
Giving Israel anything they wanted landed us in the hole. Fighting two foreign wars halfway around the globe landed us in the hole. Handing out a loan to anyone with a pulse landed us in the hole. Spending our borrowed funds irresponsibly landed us in the hole. not all of us participated in these things but all of us have to deal with them. The government is a part of the problem (just like wall st. is) and this stimulus is just more of the same of what we've been doing. Its not gonna work
rswoods7, I agree with you that America has commited a litany of gross errors in every department, and the stimulus is not going to work...you are right.
I guess my point is: when I hear Santelli's rant against losers, I know he is waving the wrong flag and and pointing the wrong stick.
All Americans are in this mess together and you are going to need each other like never before in the times ahead. Santelli divides America against itself. Ordinary folk are not the culprits in this disaster.
Peace. I respect your position... I agree what Santelli is doing isn't positive or constructive. He is basically just ranting, and angry people do deserve a voice. However his position doesn't offer a practical solution to our problems and can cause some of it's own... I still think Americans are to blame (especially if they voted), but I do think they should be able to keep their homes without paying their mortgage... as long as I can stay in my apartment after I can't pay rent anymore.
Good point. I hope you will...be ok for rent and all.
What a mess!
I am Irish and we have a gigantic mess here too. In the old days when times were hard here in Ireland, which was pretty much always, we used to emigrate. Today there is nowhere to go. We are all in this one together.
The bankers and the markets have the whole planet bankrupted.
We are on a rollercoaster ride into the future...hold on tight.
Peace. things appear worse than they will be. There is still plenty of wildlife diversity, the world is vast and our knowledge refreshed. We know our renewable resources, our guiding principles, and we are in better health than in decades. Once the shit hits the fan I believe people will start to ignore the idealism and the politicians and the preachers and the commercials and TV stars and all the other people that don't give a **** about us. We need Family, friends, volunterism, charity.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT. If banks lose their assets, it means someone else got all the money. If a hedge fund lost it's clients money, it means someone else got it. Money just changed hands. How can the whole world go bancrupt? Money can disappear only if loans are paid back to the banks -- then the money is liquidated.
It is too complicated to explain how the banking and money system works in a comment. But fact is all the banks are insolvent. The real problem is not the subprime (or losers) it's overleveraging of investments as well as the derivatives and CDS and a host of other notional abstract and wholly unreal junk paper 'wealth' that is evaporating and creating black holes of debt in the balance sheets of banks and investment firms. Those are the holes the bailouts are being poured into.
Money can translate into assets when called in. Fractional Reserve Banking allows for money on books even though it is yet to be collected, when loans are defaulted on, the digital money becomes worthless due to multipying by 0. The trail always leads back to the person who has control of issuing the currency. Intervention is a tool to create inflation, while at the same time claiming to fight it (inflation). Leverage and fractional reserve banking answer some of your question. ie.. The Fed
Thank you. I think, I have to do some more reading. Most of my friends, even MBAs and CPAs don't really understand what the money supply or fractional reserve banking is. Or what a "High power money" is. It's inpossible to understand anything without the understanding the basics. Most people think that money is printed by the government.
is silver never again going down significantly? I've been watching it go up quickly from 12 to 14.4. I know it will go up in the long run but will it ever go down to 12 or lower?
Go to the Kitco website and look up the historical chart for silver on Dec. 23, 2008. This was two months ago. Silver fell about half of its value to around $5 an ounce within less than three minutes time, only to magically regain all of that loss within the next three minutes. What the heck was that?
The global economy may be deteriorating even faster than it did during the Great Depression, Paul Volcker, a top adviser to President Barack Obama, said on Friday.
Volcker noted that industrial production around the world was declining even more rapidly than in the United States, which is itself under severe strain.
I have been saying this all along that the World was living off the United States Enconomy
Did you hear China so far closed down 70 thousand factory's because the U.S. slow down. These workers stated they have no other choice but to return to Farming, but the younger generation is having a hard time with that
I can't get silver (or gold) prices to update on Kitco. It's been stuck for at least a couple hours now, at least on Kitco. Anyone else know a good site for checking silver prices 24/7, preferably in chart form?
Ms. He continues, "Whats most surprising is the CCP has been patting itself on the back. It boasts that the Chinese and Russian models supposedly prospered, while stating that the financial crisis in the United States is due to its impoverished free market system and that its well-established freedom and democracy have collapsed." (See: Financial Crisis in the U.S. and China—Comparing Apples and Oranges)
Ms. He says that China's economic woes are homegrown. "
By turning our means of exchange into paper debt that THEY issue, the colonial merchants were able to liquidate our production to themselves, creating global corporations that further their cause
We need to protect the national sovereignty of,, our money,, our govt,, our markets,, our production,, our land ownership,, our labor,,,
Another accurate prediction Daniel; just about everything you forecast was realized. You are in tune with the markets and I trust your assessments more than some crummy Financial Planner's. Celente, Schiff and VV are the true Oracles not Buffett, Kramer Daverha LOL.
Gold holds intrinsic value and when the shit hits the fan the super markets will be empty anyhow. Our fiat currency has no intrinsic value. And they are destroying it to bring in the centralized world bank and the Amero.
Fannie Mae Rescue Hindered as Asians Seek Guarantee
Feb. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Asian investors wont buy debt and mortgage-backed securities from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac until they carry explicit U.S. guarantees, similar to those given on bonds issued by Bank of America Corp. or Citigroup Inc.
I hope the Western Powers are not taking their eyes off Russia, for the first time Putin is facing street protests, last time that happened,he invaded Georgia.
With Ukraine already at the IMF,Russia might decide to do a 'freindly' bailout takeover of its previous territory, latvia is also at the IMF.
The German Bund is the benchmark interest rate for the EURO currency.
As things stand now Ireland/Spain/Italy,are paying 2-300 bps above the Bund to get their debt away.
All the doom-sayers about the Euro said, you can not have monetary union without political union, seems they may have been right.
In America States do not want to bail out other states, imagine if individual countries in the Euro have to bail out their neighbours, the unrest and riots would be huge,ONE WORD-THE FRENCH!!!
After seeing Rick yesterday, I wondered why I was so excited by his comments. It came to me last night right before I fell asleep. Leadership. Americans want someone who will get in the face of our pathetic, lying, cheating so-called leaders and tell them we are not going to take this crap anymore and if push comes to shove they just might find out that we are not the gutless wonders they think we are! DC has outlived it usefulness...

AIG Seeks More US Funds As Record Loss Looms
AIG, the insurance giant that is 80-percent owned by the US govt, is in discussions with the government to secure additional funds so it can keep operating after next Monday, when it will report the largest loss in U.S. corporate history, CNBC has learned.
Sources close to the company said the loss will be near $60 B due to writedowns on a variety of assets including commercial real estate.

When you read the 400+ year old writing/ journaling of my ancestors, this is what you'll see.....they put faith in their ability to believe in something greater than thier own comfort. In our financial trouble we must put faith in our ability to rise above it. All of us can aleast afford to smile.

here in the UK things have taken a sinister twist with a new BoE power that enables it to intervene and prop up troubled banks more swiftly. The bad thing is that such actions can be undisclosed, with no obligation for the BoE to explain what it is doing. This sounds bad to me. These people are in trouble because of their own greed... there is no justice.
rswoods7 2 years ago 4
I feel your pain...your suffering as your president tries to support American families caught in the sunami of this collapse.
So far you seem to be a lucky one.
I hope your luck holds out.
But dont stomp on the luck of others - it just might backfire - you know karma.
siddhaam 2 years ago
Why do you say I am lucky? I live on the edge of poverty, don't have a car, I don't own any property and I have a mound of hospital debt that I'm paying off slowly. I'm lucky?
I sat back and I watched everyone drive these nice cars and have all this nice stuff that none of them could afford while I struggle to survive within my means. Justice would be making those irresponsible people give back what they can't pay for. Instead now *I* have to pay for something they bought but couldnt afford
rswoods7 2 years ago 4
In retrospect I should have just done the irresponsible thing like everyone else. Then I'd have a car and a house and education and everything right now; paid for by everyone else. It wouldn't have been fair (and IT ISNT FAIR) but I sincerely thought all that stuff was gonna get repossessed when the delinquent owners couldn't pay their debt for it.
rswoods7 2 years ago
I dont mean to attack you...sorry if I have hurt you.
But your position will not improve by blaming your neighbours. They will lose their shirts in this collapse - we all will probably. Look beyond your neighbourhood and see how your whole world has been an engineered illusion - a matrix of lies. Wall St. gamblers have destroyed America. You will need your neighbours in the coming troubles.
Consolidate your position and get ready.
siddhaam 2 years ago
peace, i understand where you are coming from. I'm not mad at my neighbors, just their selfish and materialistic behavior that we all must pay for now. I'm mad at the government for playing God, and I'm mad at myself for allowing myself to be exploited. Wall St. hasn't destroyed america... Americans have destroyed america. I don't blame capitalism and I don't believe socialism is the solution... i agree, we have to stop trusting politicians and corporations and build new social structures.
rswoods7 2 years ago
But it is Wall St.'s gambling debts and reckless banking practices that have landed America in the 60+ trillion hole it is in.
Dont blame ordinary folk who were duped by the constant tv ads and offers of cheap credit. Americans are bombarded with wall to wall propaganda 24/7 - how any of you can think straight at all is a wonder.
And you were duped into Iraq as well.
Wall St. has usurped Wasington.
The bankers have bankrupted all the nations of the world.
Only Americans can save America.
siddhaam 2 years ago 3
Giving Israel anything they wanted landed us in the hole. Fighting two foreign wars halfway around the globe landed us in the hole. Handing out a loan to anyone with a pulse landed us in the hole. Spending our borrowed funds irresponsibly landed us in the hole. not all of us participated in these things but all of us have to deal with them. The government is a part of the problem (just like wall st. is) and this stimulus is just more of the same of what we've been doing. Its not gonna work
rswoods7 2 years ago
rswoods7, I agree with you that America has commited a litany of gross errors in every department, and the stimulus is not going to work...you are right.
I guess my point is: when I hear Santelli's rant against losers, I know he is waving the wrong flag and and pointing the wrong stick.
All Americans are in this mess together and you are going to need each other like never before in the times ahead. Santelli divides America against itself. Ordinary folk are not the culprits in this disaster.
siddhaam 2 years ago
Peace. I respect your position... I agree what Santelli is doing isn't positive or constructive. He is basically just ranting, and angry people do deserve a voice. However his position doesn't offer a practical solution to our problems and can cause some of it's own... I still think Americans are to blame (especially if they voted), but I do think they should be able to keep their homes without paying their mortgage... as long as I can stay in my apartment after I can't pay rent anymore.
rswoods7 2 years ago
Good point. I hope you will...be ok for rent and all.
What a mess!
I am Irish and we have a gigantic mess here too. In the old days when times were hard here in Ireland, which was pretty much always, we used to emigrate. Today there is nowhere to go. We are all in this one together.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT. If banks lose their assets, it means someone else got all the money. If a hedge fund lost it's clients money, it means someone else got it. Money just changed hands. How can the whole world go bancrupt? Money can disappear only if loans are paid back to the banks -- then the money is liquidated.
juneride 2 years ago
Hi juneride.
Those are the holes the bailouts are being poured into.
siddhaam 2 years ago
Money can translate into assets when called in. Fractional Reserve Banking allows for money on books even though it is yet to be collected, when loans are defaulted on, the digital money becomes worthless due to multipying by 0. The trail always leads back to the person who has control of issuing the currency. Intervention is a tool to create inflation, while at the same time claiming to fight it (inflation). Leverage and fractional reserve banking answer some of your question. ie.. The Fed
BendoverBernanke 2 years ago
Thank you. I think, I have to do some more reading. Most of my friends, even MBAs and CPAs don't really understand what the money supply or fractional reserve banking is. Or what a "High power money" is. It's inpossible to understand anything without the understanding the basics. Most people think that money is printed by the government.

More to follow brother....

They won't talk about the debt banking money system
It seems to be the 600 pound gorilla in the room
1/2 the professionals on the financial media are covering up english accents trying to sound American
canadians all over around here
America has been overthrown they are just waiting for those of us left over to die off
They killed us off in viet nam and ran up the national debt
That's what's going on

Anybody care to protect America from these crooks?
How about you cannot buy property in the USA unless you are born here
We'll call that sovereignty
Protecting our national sovereignty and future generations of Americans

We can't even afford houses, yet "we" have military and industry all over the world
And we are "poor"
we can't even afford to build ourselves houses
You want to know what you're worth just deduct your debt from the value of your assets;)

Regarding BofA and Citigroup, I wouldn't be surprised to hear a big announcement soon.
They'll be nationalized or put into receivership or pre privatization status. These guys and their euphemisms, they'd make Orwell proud.

People:
This guy is a "GAMBLER" like the rest of those in that trading floor. THEY pray on your money to make their money.
THOSE are the "SPECULATORS" who prayed on people to get their profits and run. THOSE people promoted the "BUNDLING' of mortgaging that caused this problem.
They are pissed because THEY (speculators, predators, GAMBLERS of your money) WILL NOT make money of this bill.
I say FUCK THEM.
