  • Did he say 42 rides? That's more rides than great America today! So that means great America has ripped out do many rides it has less than 19 years ago!

  • say "America" when you mean ONE country one. more. time.

  • HOON-dreds of games

  • 0:45 what are you doing tommorow?

  • After growing up there under Bugs Bunny and Marriott, it's hard to imagine the park today being hosted by Lucy and Snoopy.

  • @1987tvfreak This 1982 *Marriott's* (not Six Flags) Great America commercial likely aired in both the Chicago and San Francisco markets, for both Great America parks in Gurnee, IL and Santa Clara, CA. The only part of this commercial unique to Gurnee is the American Eagle, so the San Francisco market likely got a slightly different edit. Marriott normally produced identical commercials for both parks.

  • @TnseWlms Agreed...at least Six Flags continued on the Marriott tradition of branding Great America (and later their other parks) with the iconic Looney Tunes characters. The Peanuts gang seems out of place at Great America in Santa Clara.

  • That was back when America was great.

  • This is why we invented DVR and TiVo

  • That was back on the day when guys wore their pants like they should. not baggie!!!

  • yay! marriott's great america!

  • dive in the american eagle with the highest drop in the world!!!

    lol

  • @d4n60m3z back then the american eagle had 5 world records! including the highest drop for a wooden coaster, fastest wooden coaster and more

  • Man this commercial made in the 80s and yet looks 100x better than nowadays.

  • ohhh lorrrrd

  • The toons definitely see to have gotten makeovers over time

  • this brings back memories.this is the best commercial they ever did. I went to g.a. with my friends and family that year. That was my best trip there ever. It was the last weel of summer. I was 11 had a great summer, had my first official crush.A crush that started 2 or 3 days before we went to great america. It was an innocent time for me, A time when anything seemed possible.

  • This is back when it was Marriott's Great America. I worked at the Great America park in Santa Clara, CA, at the time. There were two identical parks built in 1976. Great memories!

  • The girl at 0:15 sure knows where she's going.

  • I remember an ice cream shop there that offered three flavors: chocolate, vanilla and Great America.

  • '82 was the first time we had a family outing to Great America, it was right after we saw E.T. that was the BEST Saturday EVER!

  • @NepperCat which great america were you at?

  • @horizon327 The one in Gurnee Illinois.

  • ahh the 80's good times good times

  • epic

  • wow... I went 2 great america be4 i was born, Seriously! My mom didnt know she was pregnant and went on everything like Demon and American Eagle, LMAO! No wonder I LOVE IT! I am having withdrawals already and it just closed! Cant wait till spring!!!

  • Thanks for the memories. Although this was before it was owned by Six Flags. Marriott owned it back then. We used to say we were going to Marriotts haha! We had to train ourselves to start saying Six Flags when they were bought out.

  • Why couldn't you just say "going to Great America"?

  • I don't know! Who gives a flip?? It was a long time ago!!! LOL!!

  • what a world - EVERYTHING turns into racism...even a simple, innocent commercial from 1982....good golly!

  • Well damn those Blacks for working and having money! I just hope today "they" don't ruin your good times wherever you go! But then again, some of them, probably think the same of you! Stop the hate! Have a nice day!

  • haha

  • i couldnt imagine the park without raging bull or batman or superman

  • @krazydude34 me too

  • girl:"yesterday there was nothing to do" guy:"yeah, what are you doing tomorrow?"

Message of commercial: Great America will get you laid.

    lol!!

  • lmfao!

  • HAHAHAHA that should be there new tagline

Six Flags Great America: Come here and get laid

  • LMAO!!! HAHAHAHA

  • thats old but who cares

  • Only two rides???? WTF!!!!! Listen at 0.18 seconds

  • Its either 42 or 22 not Only Two, you can see about 7 in the commercial.

  • it says 42, it's not hard to hear at all

  • No they either said 42 or 22

  • They said 42 ride and attractions.

  • I'm brazilian and I could easily understand 42 lol

  • My gag reflex acts up whenever the mascots are onscreen :P

  • "Dive: on the american eagle, with the fastest drop in the world!" LOL that is SO funny!

  • it actually was at the time.

  • deja vu is gone? From which park?

  • From all Six Flags American parks except Magic Mountain thats the only one left at a Six Flags.

  • Back when the world wasn't so Crule

  • @lolol515 it was a different country back then.

  • love how all the 80's commercials always say things like "great america" chuck e cheese commercials say it to.

  • 2 coasters! OMFG but still would of been the shit IMAGINE THE LINES! for demon and AmericaEAGLE

  • Please Watch The Best Of Family Guy Song Parodies:

    v=e6X1FAA9dp8

  • taz looks fat as fuck and bugs bunny has no nose wtF?!!!!!1

  • "but most of all, its about LOVE"

    HAHAHAHAH<3

  • Hmm they should change the name now, its really not anything Great America used to be at all. How about Great Capitalism

  • Yeah, Marriott owned it therefore Mormon so where the hell is the magic underpants ride??

  • Six Flags Great America was originally built and owned by Marriott Corporation. In May of 1984, the Park was purchased by Six Flags Corporation and become the seventh park in the Six Flags Family of regional theme parks. In 1991, Time Warner Enterprises facilitated the recapitalization of Six Flags Corporation and gained controlling interest in the corporation. Today, Six Flags Great America is owned by the Time Warner entertainment company.

  • wow do you spend all day reading about it. you know your stuff. lol do you have that memorized. and i thought i knew alot.

  • sorry my brother right that not me.

  • sf isnt owned by time warner anymore.

  • Marriott's Great America 1982 not six flags

  • Yeah Back then it was all about love but now it is all about profits!

  • Lol what are you doing tommorow

  • Wow! The Looney Tune costumes back then were MUTANTS compared to the ones we have now!! I mean look at freakin' Porky and Taz in this commercial! They look better now than they did then.

  • This commerical was like a cross between early 80's and a dying 60's and 70's.

  • never heard of it :/

  • nice weird to see tallest is 400ft now man technology owns :)

  • yeah well hight isnt all that matters. i think kinda ka and the other one sucks. they just go straight up and basically stright down with no twists or turns. thats not fun.

  • I was referring to how much we improved in the past.

  • i know and i see wqat ur saying but back then things were alot more family fun and now its more scary. i personally like scary better cuz i love thrills but back then seems more nice and friendly. now its all big and bad. but its better to take girls u like on the big rides cuz they hold your hands and go to you for safety. lol.

  • Yeah haha, well these older rides were scary back then i guess. im not sure.. im only 15 and loving what we have now so its cool lol.

  • you know deja vu is gone right??

  • Nope, SFMM's still there.

  • aw haha that was so cheesy! i loved it!

  • the best commercial they ever did.

  • the best commercial they've had

  • Taz's belly is down!

  • I thought that the Lobster was the same ride as the East River Crawler. It doesn't look that way to me. Wow! I'm shocked.

  • A lot of those shots are from the first couple years at both Marriott's Great America (Gurnee) and Marriott's Great America (Santa Clara). The Shot of the lobster is from the Santa Clara park. Anyone correct me if I am wrong but the Lobster at the Gurnee park has always been the same just re themed and repainted in 1992 for the opening of Batman the Ride!

  • Simply amazing!

Best quote ever "yesterday there was nothing to do!"

  • That's sweet, dude!
