This was back when Blood, Sweat and Tears were commonly called BS&T, no? Am I right? And one thing I'm not sure I understand -- Does both Al Kooper and Buddy Miles sing lead on their early songs? Fill me in, eh?
I am back after almost a year. Just to let you know that the The Flag was the foundation for Tower Of Power.
Here is the chronology: The Electric Flag, then the Loading Zone with Buddy Miles at the helm, and finally Tower Of Power.
I have seen videos of Hendrix with Buddy Miles on drums and an unknown black musician on bass. They were doing some cool sophisticated, funky jams which we would class as hip hop. Way ahead of their time. An all black Hendrix band really rocked.
Wait are you by any chance refering to the band of gypsies? Once hendrix broke up with the experience he had a band and it was all black musicians...most of the music on his new album valleys of neptune was recorded with the gypsies. Much more funk then blues
Yeah, thanks for reminding me. Those guys jammed. The world is only now catching up to them. However, The Electric Flag was still the foundation for Tower of Power. I remember seeing the posters and handbills and heard the talk going on at music stores. I thank Buddy Miles, Mike Bloomfield and Nick Gravenites for inspiring me all those years ago.
I really don't know. I saw them doing a documentary of Bay Area bands and I saw Hendrix play with Buddy Miles and unknown black musician. It was from the late 60's or early 70's. They were doing some really funky music that had a modern sound to it. Miles was doing some double kicks and it was great. All people wanted to hear was all that crazy psychedelic stuff and get high, not appreciating some cutting edge music. Hella good band. Glad you like them too...Cheers buddy..
Thank you =)) They were so amazing. I thin Muddy Waters' badn was the only other band that impresses me so much. But the Flag were one of a kind indeed.
hey cool Mike. I never had the album =(( but a friend of mine taped his album 4 me. I wore out the tape. haha! One of my favorite albums. thanks for listening!

So very sixties, and so very GROOVY! I loved this band! They's as good as the original (Al Cooper's) Blood, Sweat, and Tears.

It pisses me off that they did this amazing song at Monterey and I can't find it nowhere, it was evev filmed. I really hope that it surface someday.

One of really great bands of 60s. And this is one of 5 or 6 best albums of 60s. (And there were a lot of great albums).

@leegenix Thanks for this info.
Do you know the members of Jimi Hendrix Experience? They are considered by many to be Jimi's best.

The tightest band from the 60's. Was well liked by musicians.
