it already is a true instrument.

but. keep in mind that the lasers are simply controlling data that is controlling sound. So the data could be mapped to anything. so the sounds that you hear here are simply one possibility.

This is amazing. I'm truly impressed. Thinking of the physics, sensors and wireing nessisary for such an instrument is perplexing. I would love to know how he got the idea and went about makeing it. A diary of it's development would be enlightening!

basically, the state of the water at five points (ie. whether there are waves / movement on the surface of the water or not) modulates the amplitude and eventually tone of five separate waveforms.
