True; however, you may only upload a few files at a time. File-folder uploading is exempt from the Microsoft Skydrive experience.
Furthermore, an external HDD has it's flaws. If your house gets hit with a tornado or flood all of your data is gone (PC and external data source). An online back up source may be located on the other side of the continent, keeping your data safe from mother nature..

The easiest and cheapest way to back up your hard drive is to buy an external drive. After all the drive will last the longest and the price of the drive pays off compared to paid backups so why bother with online backup. You don't have to waste your time uploading your files to the internet. All you do is copy and paste.If anything happens to your internal drive and you backed it up online you might want to buy a new modem while you are at the store buying a new replacement hard drive.
