Its also about genetics. Some people will get fat by eating Taco bell daily. Others will only get a little fat.
Dont be so quick to call them fat bastards. and also, just because you are skinny, it doesn't mean your healthy. Your BMI is based on the percentage of fat you have. YOU CAN BE SKINNY AND STILL HAVE "FAT" SIMPLY BECUSE YOU DONT HAVE MUSCLE.
Muscle means you have rock hard abs. It doesn't mean you're "thin" with a squishy stomach. You are still unhealthy, just not morbidly obese
the only reason "quantity" is involved is that they are trying to make you spend MORE money (would you like to Super-size that for only 35 more cents?)
The quality is taken to acount for, becuase of this: it is cheaper than buying things "fresh"
Dont be a judgemental prick and think that obesity only affects "fat bastards that shove food in their face."
EVERONE DOES IT! EVEN YOU! Just because you dont get fat by the same food doesnt mean you're not guilty
I like the cartoon. It shows how we've gone from eating whole foods to processed junk. The most horrifying thing for me is the 12 yr old girl. LIPO!! what the heck! she's a child! what next? Gastric bypass!?!? I have a 12 yr old daughter too and as a parent I take responsibility & control of what she eats! sure she has junk especially out with her friends, but she has whole foods, fruit and veg more. I feel so strongly that I don't want my kids to be overweight like me.
They should be taxing high fat foods heavier, it should be much cheaper to be healthy than un-healthy. They should also be much stricter on public workers, such as soldiers, if you're a soldier and you get fat, you should get kicked out, it's that simple.
I agree with chickenmcthug I do not see very many healthy GIs walking around. Most seem very overweight to me. In my office we have some former marines who just freaking got out and they are obese. This is ridiculous.
obesity as a concept will end with the depletion of oil and fossil fuels, these people will either die or have to spend all their days out in the fields working growing food .
food of all sorts will be far more expensive and local so it will be practically impossible to be obese or far rarer than it is today
What I dont understand is that so many americans let their children become obese. You are their fucking parents, therefore you can instil exercise into their daily routine and you can choose most of what they eat. You can feed them the right stuff from an early age so that they will learn to like salads, fruits etc.
There are still many obese people who are not food addicts, so if you bias yourself to believe that all obese people are food addicts, chances are, your mission won't be as successful as you thought. I'm not accusing you of anything, I just felt like I should give you a little heads up.
No, most obese people are obese because they eat too much. The argument of it being glandular or what only holds up for a very small percentage of the population, Americans are genetically no different to europeans therefore the obesity levels should be similar.
amcadam26, This is bull! it's not because they "eat too much". It's because the food they eat is PROCESSED and has too many calories, additives etc. You could eat 12 plums for one candy bar. which is more? the candy bar or the 12 plums? There are less fast food places in Europe, while America is riddled with them on every corner not to mentioned bombarded with commercials. Corporate America!! making us FAT!
Okay, well even if it's the quality and not the amount of food. It's not like you can't buy healthy food in the US, people just choose not to eat it, giving reasons like "It's not convinient, it's too expensive, it takes too long to cook". These are rubbish excuses, your health is too important to treat like this. When I buy food in the supermarket, I actually check the label and purchase food based on that, not just on what I feel like eating at the time.
Healthy food may be "scarce" and at a higher price than the "cheap, fast food"
and we are conditioned by TV, celebrities, and everyhting else to choose the shitty food rather than the healthy ones.
Celebrities endorse the Coca Cola, McDonald's, Taco Bell. but they never endorse the apples and oranges? Becuase there's no money making IN that category.
Looks interesting, but that comment about the military isn't right. BMI doesn't factor in muscle mass. According to BMI most football players are overweight too.
For your average inactive America BMI makes sense, but it doesn't when it comes to people that are working out hard.
i totally agree. the military cannot possibly be obese, logically speaking. the reporter must've looked at the straight BMIs, which aren't always accurate if the person is muscular
No. You're possibly thinking only of infantry, which by their nature force you to be fit. Infantry only comprises a small part of the total military. I believe that there are now about 86 support personnel per front line infantry soldier.
Great, don't like how they used that frame of bush as if he's somehow behind some of it.. regardless, the clip of you was probably the best. I couldn't tell if you were really excited, or happy crying, or just crying. Either way i loved it.

I live in holland, and offcourse there are obease people here, but i have never seen an obease person, where i live, never, and its a pretty big city.
I think it has alot to do with all the fastfood restaurants in america.
A good friend of mine went to america last summer, and he loves them, but he said that there are way to many of them.
He's skinny so he doesnt really care though...

I'm pretty upset that this video propogates the usage of government to stop fat people from eating huge amounts of slop on a daily basis.
Yet again an example of the weak relying on the government to live their lives. Come the fuck on.
