I've been a Charvel/Jackson fan since the 80s and have owned, and still do, several of each. I'm sure Jackson sells enough of these and makes plenty of money from this, but every time I see one it just seems overboard to me. Too much. Like what I would have spec'd out when I was a kid. Figured tops, flashy paint jobs, figured necks, Floyd, sustainers, switches, batteries lol. These days I can afford whatever I want but I like it simple; FR and a humbucker that's it. His guitars with his specs are really not what you get when you pay out the ying yang for his artist model guitars. Look at the video. His guitars have titanium tremelos and dunlop straplocks. If you pay for that, you should get that.
Not to burst any bubbles here , but i know Phil Collen personally and to those of you that dont, and yes im aware some of you do.. But too those who dont he invented this guitar and mastered it, so how do any of you see sloppiness here.. It may not be classical but it defently isnt sloppy, He is self taught and never took a formal lesson in his life.. But now he has more money than most of you make in a year he makes just to wake up in a day... So dont knock him because your jealous,just learn.
See sloppy is a playing style. Done of the best used this style. However, a lot of distortion hides mistakes. Not to say that that's bad. But it can be a turn off to many other guitarist. But still I love the sloppy style.
Those are some pretty hot pickups though...I really like the way that Jackson followed through with the charvel/Kramer style electronics...by that I mean the mini toggles for a boost/coil tap.

You have to be brain dead to think that you are even have as skilled as Phil Collen. Power chords, drop d tuning and palm muting does not make a great guitarist. I'll give you credit though. I watched some of your vids and you are good but still, Phil is in another league.
Phil's PC-1's come with Floyd Rose Original double-locking 2-Point Tremolo. The one you saw at the shop must have been modified. I'm not sure why anyone would want to swap out an original Floyd for a licensed one though. lol
i have never seen a video of it but i have seen pictures of a what they say is a prototype pc1... its green and has a unique floyd rose design which requires no tunning pegs on the headstock... its so sick... if i find a good picture ill post it

He is just dive bombing a note and on the pitch up touching a natural harmonic to give to that chime like squeal. Fun little trick to use in your playing.
Actually I think since he is using the sustainer in a particular setting on his guitar it pulls those natural harmonics out of any not he plays. Look here: 0:54
The way you're talking about sounds like the way most people do it with standard style pickup configurations, made most famous by Dimebag, sounds different too. A setup like Phil's here would make adding effects like that SUPER easy.

The bridge pickup is a Dimarzio Super 3 and the Jackson sustainer is in the neck position. It's the only model by Jackson that it's offered on, unless you custom shop order one with it installed.

Phil's PC-1's come with Floyd Rose Original double-locking 2-Point Tremolo. The one you saw at the shop must have been modified. I'm not sure why anyone would want to swap out an original Floyd for a licensed one though. lol

i have never seen a video of it but i have seen pictures of a what they say is a prototype pc1... its green and has a unique floyd rose design which requires no tunning pegs on the headstock... its so sick... if i find a good picture ill post it

Well the first switch is more of a Subtle Sustainer switch the second one Opens it up and makes the pickup Hum harder lol. Badass guitar dude.

He was just screwing around. He is an absolute technician when it comes to playing the guitar. One of the best around, yet very under appreciated.

He is just dive bombing a note and on the pitch up touching a natural harmonic to give to that chime like squeal. Fun little trick to use in your playing.

Actually I think since he is using the sustainer in a particular setting on his guitar it pulls those natural harmonics out of any not he plays. Look here: 0:54
The way you're talking about sounds like the way most people do it with standard style pickup configurations, made most famous by Dimebag, sounds different too. A setup like Phil's here would make adding effects like that SUPER easy.

The bridge pickup is a Dimarzio Super 3 and the Jackson sustainer is in the neck position. It's the only model by Jackson that it's offered on, unless you custom shop order one with it installed.

Actually, they are. The only things Custom about what he's playing is the reversed headstock that we no longer use and the body wood.

Sorry sport but I have to say you are wrong. Not many people are as good as Phil. Just because he doesn't play the most difficult runs with DL, does not mean he is not a superb guitarist. He's one of the most underrated guitarists for sure.

but when u say better, you mean faster.....you prob think that speed is everything which it isnt....he made half of the def leppard stuff....def leppard guitar parts are not as fast as metallica or evh, but his playing is definately a lot more creative...

thing is he is fast; watch that for a start^ and miss you in a heartbeat his solo is really quick considering its acoustic. not that that matters, his solos are great, his riffs are awesome and hes a better writer then any of the guitar newbs. 5th of all time, with steve
