the reason of the controversy between Amy Winehouse and Sharon Jones is that producer Mark Ronson basically "hired" the Dapkings to play on most of the tracks of "Back to Black". He basically wanted the Sharon Jones sound and just replaced the singer. that's why the album has that retro funk/soul/jazz sound. of course both Sharon Jones and all of her fans were outraged by that move, and with reason, since Jones is also a better singer. But money and looks buy many things.

Okay I can understand what your saying that was a bad move on Mark Ronson's part but he was producing Amy not Sharon!! Amy was inspired by Ronnettes, and Ronnettes so yes he wanted the Dap-kings 60's sound. But hello she's not funk singer!!! Back to Black came out before 100 days and nights. Another note, Amy wrote a lot of the songs towards the end of her Frank era when her style was more jazzy. So she's not copying anyone.

You gotta see her live. She was in the Central Park this past summer. She's been around for a long time, but no one figured it out. When Janis Joplin died, I thought the REAL Blues-Jazz-O-So-Funky female died as well. All the James Browns and gods of blues, jazz and funk are alive and well.

She would so kill "America's Got Talent" She'd fill that place in Los Vegas nightly.

umm no she's not she sings soul and jazz for years before she even became famous!! Sharon sings funk!! Those are different genres and their two different people. And what about Ne-yo or Usher they copy Michael Jackson and what about Micheal Jackson?? He copied James brown?? No they were all inspired by singers from previous generations but they bring their own unique style to soul music.and yes Amy has unique lyrics she has so many puns and her slang is British slang too. I love both artists!
