  • You guys are fuckin' stupid. She's singing about the tragedy of John Lennon dying and the douche bag who did it.

  • These are the worst lyrics I have ever heard in modern song. And I'm not even joking.

  • why r they playing "i just shot john lennon", if that song appears in "to the faithful departed", and they appearing for "no need to argue"?!?!?

  • @carlosrodvalle this was recorded at the end of 2005, they released their TTFD album shortly after!

  • @placebosky oh, that explains all, thank u

  • Who is this song about?

  • @111Fett this song was written to commemorate the death of John Lennon and the stupidity behind his tragic death.

  • that is some impressive strumming!

  • Let go of her hand! Creep!

  • Actually it was a Charter Arms .38, not a Smith and Wesson. Anyways, this is a very powerful song.

  • @SantaMariaDeFeira

The lyrics are stupid, it would have been better is she sang the assassin was sent by the CIA.

She is just repeating the same old line from the media in the United States, Boring.......

  • She is the best!!!

    Dolores RULES!!

    Her voices is amazing

  • Waiting to see The Cranberries playing here in my city (Florianópolis, Brazil), next saturday!

  • Wow, 95' huh? Man, Letterman's gap is as huge as ever? Geez.

  • what fuckin song is this ?

good job man thank for the vid

  • @allurasibestia this song was only played twice live ever. there is no recorded version

  • @westsidegrga This song is recorded on The album "To the faithful departed" by the cranberries and in the mid 90's it was part of their live set quite regularly.

  • @placebosky hey friend, Can you tell me what's the name of this Cranberries' song?

  • @jojemon2 ok ok, I've got it now!

  • @jojemon2 "I Just Shot John Lennon".

  • they murder john lennon in their song!

  • aww wow ! I have sumhow never seen this so thanks for the vid ! Wonder why they played this 1 when it wasn't a single? She looks ace playing her keyboard lol xx

  • I wish she would always have long black hair like when she did the are you listening CD she looked so so beautiful and she even dressed really nice kind of formal in a way but she still looks good either way cuz its her unique style

  • Not sure why anyone is worried about her sandles...seriously.

  • Cool... Drummer the best!

  • she scares me...

  • VERY VERY COOL !!!!

  • Awkwardly long handshake.

  • ...i can not speak... The Beatles.

  • No offense to anyone, but this song really creeps me out. especially the cd version which has 5 gunshot sounds at the end.

  • @breakingfree90 why? I dont blame you because it is creepy when you think about what a CREEP MDC was. I still think this is a good song in his memory though. Its just saying how much of an asshole Mark Chapman was. lol

  • Can anybody repost : The Cranberries - Zombie @ David Letterman 1994?

  • That's some serious guitar strumming right there

  • one talented woman and not just her hips!

  • It was a fitting tribute given it was performance in the Sullivan Theater as well as proximity to where John was murdered.

I was too young to remember the death of John in 80 (although I was six and listened to Sgt. Pepper almost everyday) but I certainly cried my eyes out on the way to work when I heard about the passing of George.

  • she is very sexy

  • LOVE the hair!

  • what guitar is he playing??? looks amazing!!

  • a vox teardrop guitar but its a 12 string

  • this song is awsome, she has a great voice =)

she kinda looks like my 5th grade teacher

  • @peepsrock21 a lesbian?

  • @peepsrock21 part of the 90's

  • I love this song!! I Just Shot Jhon Lennon!! :D

  • Placebosky, I doubt Dolores gives a rat's behind about what you think of her "style". As far as I'm concerned, Dolores can wear whatever she damn-well pleases. I think you're just jealous of her incredible talents and you're trying to compensate for your lack-there-of by spewing senseless criticism. Thanks for posting though =)

  • i think this song is underrated too..its one of my all time favorites. but why did Letterman not hold up the yellow album? was it not out yet at the time of this performance?

  • They're from Limerick? ALL HAIL STAB CITY!

  • She isn't lipsyncing. You can hear her breath hit the mic, the dips in the vocal phrasing, plus she's not on exactly on key in each vocal line.

    That's live.

  • sounds like the smiths at the begining

  • yeah, you're right... they do!

  • ever heard dreams? do you sell a lot of fries on your job? got your ged yet?

  • do you want fries with that moron?

  • She's so cool I love women with short hair, they have something to say!!!

  • exactly! love dolores and short hair -)

  • wow .. cool! i never saw this before. got a vid of the previous performance?? David says "welcome back to the program .." did he mean they had performed earlier that night? or did he mean that had come to show before??? like this was their second visit?

  • they had been on it previously playing linger I think...

  • oh, ok thnx :)

    anyone got it???

  • what a song....

  • That song is jammin!

  • I can't believe it. I was at this Letterman show back in August of 1995. Thanks for posting!

  • Wow, I bet that was amazing to see:)

Great Performance. My husband was totally impressed she could sing with the mic in one hand and play amazing keys along with it.

  • Is it just me or does Mike look so much older here?

  • I heard this the night of the broadcast !

I never knew this also was on an album.

What a haunting and beautiful voice. Do they still tour?

  • Dolores does tour. She is solo now. Will tour in 2009 with 2nd solo album and will still sing most of her Cranberries songs as she wrote them.Look up Dolores O'Riordan's website and myspace for info. Alot of her new stuff is also on here under her name.

  • Check out, how she raise the tone of her voice, on 1:32, in order to match with the voice of the rest of the song, shes the best, im telling ya, this is also in the studio version, i love u dolores

  • Best ending ever

  • yeah loved the look on her face!

the band delivered so well live!

  • I know the 2:43 moment, love the look, shes the best

  • Beautiful voice. Whats with the shoes?

  • i love this song! it's so beautiful

  • I love her voice

  • all of the greatest bands played in the show of david letterman... also the cranberries!!!

    great...

    i love dolores

  • You are horrible!

  • the best Dolores !!!!!!!

  • hard rock!!!!!!!!

    John Lennon died

    Please upload more raries live

  • I just shot john lennon! Love this song

  • I just shot john lennon! Love this song

  • estubo genial!!

    bune video

  • just great! the best!

  • when was this?

  • This song was never a single so I think it was at the end of 1995 when they started writing the third album, but this is before the MTV Unplugged sessions.

Love the yelps at the ending!

  • David can't seem to take his hand away from her.

  • haha yeh :)

  • theres nothing wrong with her style its spot on

  • Out of the Cranberries songs I've heard so far, I think I like this one the least. Great band, though!

  • great song btw cranberries are legendS!

  • justlikeitshouldbe you are a total gimp

  • Truly amazing!!!! Love you Dolores!

  • This song's really interesting, as it's a narrative of the events of that trgic day, and Dolores (i think that's her name) is a really good singer but thinking about it is still kind of upsetting. RIP John.

  • how can someone disapoint u with their style? thats why its THEIR style not yours

  • Eh, it's not a shit album. to The Faithfully Departed is they're personal best, if you ask me. Then again I'm only a casual Cranberries fan. There are bigger ones out there.

    To each they're own ...

  • the album has great songs, but are a bit difficult to relate too, I think it was their most inspired album

  • nası şarkı?

  • amazing tune

  • holy cow this girl can sing!! what an amazing vocal performance!

  • Love this song.

    Love John Lennon.

    And love the Cranberries.

  • yeh he moves back and forth

    ?

  • this perfectly portrays what rock and roll used to be about; passion, anger, futility and most of all hope

  • i was born 3 days after brother lennon got shot 11th dec 1980 the day he was cremated

  • perfect songs

    i love it

  • I love it! But i prefer the new songs as When We Were Young, Ordinary Day or October.

  • perfect songs

  • my goodness i love the cranberries

  • touchy, what's wrong not getting laid lately?

  • Dolores, your voice is beautiful, you were born to sing.

  • watch pavarotti and dolores duet with ave maria, princess diana almost stunned and hold her neck.

  • Yes it was sung well but the italian people didn't like her accent, it doesn't really suit the song but she did it gorgeously in my opinion! She met Diana afterwards and sat on Pavarottis lap for real haha!

  • Hm, interesting. Of all the European accents, Italiano and most eastern ones are the one big ones I can't stomach ...

  • she's beutiful , sexy , hot , talented , a great mom , she looks good in anything.

  • who cares how she dances or what clothes she wears? she's one hell of a talented woman

  • My favorite balad! You are my inspiration, Dolores!!

  • You can really tell Dave likes them, he wouldn't let go of her hand and made a point to show it.

  • I saw her Sunday live in Chicago and she was fabulous, Talent beyond belief. Yeah she may dance differently but I like it. She played the guitar and flute but glad to see she is talented on the keyboard also. I have seen Madonna and Celine Dion live and have to say Dolores has an angelic voice

  • I'm glad you got to see them live, as I'm in Scotland and haven't gotten to see them yet. I kinda like the dancing as well, but I just think sometimes her dance and movements to some tracks are just so strange and not with the song at all. But like I said, I've never been a believer that all songs are danceable, or should even be.

And yup she is very talented. Especially musically with multiple instrument playing. Stay cool ...

  • Not sure if you know Dolores went solo and claims to be on hiatus from the Cranberries so she has 2 new guitarists and Drummer touring with her. Her New album is called ARE You Listening? and does have some really awesome songs on it. Definitely worth buying if you love the Cranberries you won't be disappointed. There are alot of her new stuff on here, just type in her name.

  • Thanks mate. ;) I'll check Amazon. uk where I order all of my DVDs and CDs. I pretty much dig Dolores. I know The Cranberries haven't had anything new in a while, so I was interested. This and Salvation, where always some of my favourties.

I'll definately check her solo career stuff out. Thanks again ...

    ;)

  • he is now, he played with them on tour through 96 and then from 1999 to 2003, and now he plays on her solo tour

  • I'm still remembering is the best song...

  • I thought TTFD was good, it had some very bad moments but a lot of good ones too, The Rebels, When You're Gone, I'm still remembering, Salvation, Free To Decide and Electric Blue are amazing. The album is so versatile, but so depressing at moments! The 4th album could have been better if they had put their beautiful b-sides on there.

  • Yeah, the first 3 CDs from them I also own. TTFD was a solid album with some very pecular bad/inept songs they should have re-wrote or totlaly left out altogether. Although I love Salvation, FTD, When your Gone and Just Shot John Lennon.

Also: Does anyone else love Delores but think she's so strange & arkward to watch in concert? I guess her stage movements and live singing are better suited for stereo systems and CDs and aren't to danceable, as most music is. Right on XanArt ...

  • I have a bootleg of a cranberries concert, they also play this, it really rocks, this version is a bit cleaner. Very straight to the point lyrics! Love Dolores!

  • i'm impressed:0. but thx

  • LOL english? you mean the murderer of the murder? xD

  • people say the lyrics are absurd...they are as absurd as the event itself: I mean killing somebody... whatever the reason!

  • I agree. It takes a special kind of insanity, if premeditated, to actually take another person's life, man or woman.

I also love the lyrics, myself. I'm glad someone else agree's with me. Cheers ...

    - Branond

  • eddiegill, you kidding me? John Lennon was Irish?!

Whoa! great song i love this. my friend is mad about Lennon and she showed me this.

  • Lennon's grandparents were Irish, so technically yeah Lennon has a very celtic background.

  • great song but in it no gun song at the end

  • I was gonna say that same thing. I was just listening to it the other day on my Bose stereo.

But how come he held up another CD, when "To The Faithfully Departed" is the CD with IJSJL ? ...
