Sorry, I thinked you are Italian, hence your Nickname. I meant that I find this Video fantastic, and supposed if the Mandoliola is per fifth tuned, from bass CGDA, like a Mandola, or not? Greetings from Munich
Hello PopaRaff, Thanks for your kind words! Yes the Mandoliola is tuned in fifth; CGDA, exactly the same tuning and pitch as the Viola of the bowed violin family. The Mandola is tuned one octave below the mandolin (GDAE). The advantage of the Mandoliola - when compared with the lower sounding Mandola - is that the sound of the Mandoliola is more crisp, stronger and more clear. Especially on the lowest stringpair. This is due to the Mandoliolas shorter stringlength. Best greetings from Holland.
Hi Alex - very nice artistic playing on that beautiful mandoliola!
This is another great addition to the other performance videos of Diferencias, like the ones we know on mandola and mandoloncello! Once more a deep bow to the composer as well, there is so much in this piece! The music lives on and on! - Sebastiaan
Alex - a masterful interpretation of this great piece - expressive, commanding, and very lyrical! The sound of this piece reminds me of both Bach and bouzouki traditions. Five stars and a fave!

Thanks Mark for your great comment! Indeed this is in many ways a fantastic Kioulaphides composition.
I love to play it and can only hope that many others will study and play it also.
Cheers,
Alex.
