haha, dude, alan rickman can sell ANY line. from comedy to serious gravitas with seemingly the greatest of ease - i just saw the terrible, terrible "robin hood: prince of thieves" and he was literally - LITERALLY the only thing good in it. give that man an oscar.
Quest is a movie about the actors after the "show" ended. It's basically a parody of Star Trek and this was a fake documentary about its "20th Anniversary"
OMG, that was a hoot! You could almost parody the parody! All the behind the scenes footage was perfect, and the intentional resemblance to "Star Trek" is amazing! There was so much thought and care put into this, it's absolutely amazing!
Thank you for uploading this. I was hoping this would be part of the DVD release so long ago, but alas no. This was the best promo ideas ever, brilliantly done. Almost as good as another TV mockumentary called "Curse" for the Blaire Witch Project.
Oh, that's awesome. Thanks for sharing. I never saw this. I loved the "Toys" ref in the movie, but the reference to Tim's "Home Improvement" was too funny! Very, very cool special. Love the ad-libs.
i have some galaxy quest questions, first of all, isn't strange that the with out any description of the omega thirteen in the show, just a mention, the aliens where able to make it? #2, Dr. Lazeth is from some planet that the shows creator made up, it doesn't exist, so how can the aliens have local food from there? When Tagger hits the omega 13, they go back in time, but only tagger remembers the future?? Why? Everyone else was there too
and finally, when the show writers came up with the idea of a "birillam spere" to power the ship, that was made up too. They don't exist. But low and behold when theirs break, they actually find a planet with some on it!!! Not only does it look just like what the show writer suggest (he must be a genius) but it also puts out the EXACT power and energy it should. What are the fucking odds
The writer of Galaxy Quest only thought he made it all up. In truth another alien race visited him and implanted the idea of the show in his head. It was an attempt to jump start our space program so we would travel out to the stars and trade with other planets. They were getting tired of waiting for McDonald's franchises at the outer rim of the Galaxy.
I think that's what the sequel was going to be about.
@XjayXcoreX really? Never seen it. I was actually thinking of how the creator of Babylon 5 had said he had seen the whole thing as if it had really happened.
oh yeah its a parallel universe, hello neighbor not home improvement, navy quest, actually i thought it would be sea quest, ha ha ha! a real show in our universe. but i like our universe much better, gene roddenberry would put frank ross to shame!!!
Kinda. In order to promote this movie, they decided to do a fake "doccumentary" of the fictional show "Galaxy Quest," with all of the actors playing their characters in fake interviews.

This isn't on the dvd because of legal troubles with the jews at E!. Thanks, jews. They had to make a stink cuz they wanted money. Those damn penny pinching rat fink jews.
I agree, but he's definitely getting more recognition for it. I think there was a article recently on how Rickman saved Bottle Shock with his own personal humor. He does have a magnificent humor streak.
"To play the captain, we needed a relative unknown...
in other words, someone who was desperate!". That is too funny. Thanks to whoever posted this unknown gem. And yes, I'll admit it, I'd like to see a sequel, even tho that's impossible; it would've happened a year or two after the original...
They really should make a sequel of this movie. It is one of my favourites, and I'm saying that as a Trekkie, who is also a Questarian, and a fan of the current Battlestar Galactica.
I was like 2 years old when they canceled the show, but my father told me how upset he got back then, because they never got to show what the Omega 13 was. Anyway, I don't care what anybody says, Protector is the best of all the Galaxy Quest spin offs.
Frank Taylor, Steve Ross! (On Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, Frank Taylor was my mom's fiance who died in a 40's air corps training flight.) Anybody know what "oridinary people" was about?
The scene where Tim Allens character acknowledges the kids who aided him in battle at the comic book convention always chokes me up. A fantastic film with a great big heart.
"Questarians?" No, no, no... we're "Questies." They never get that right. ;)

- "And I said, how funny is this - an old ship, and there's no war, Frank!"
Brilliant!
