  • how does larsev not recognize that sound as being the engine? its so distinct

  • this looks like the antonov

  • Just starting up the APU

  • @larsev wrong, apu was already on. they were starting engine 1, i was there i know this

  • Bolt on turbo for a Honda

  • what is the max payload of a c-5?

  • Those things can stay in the air?? O_o

  • @1REDDAWN13.... Thanks, I am a crew chief but, have been trained as an Aero Repair Specialist. If you don't know what that is. I work on the flight controls, landing gear, and loading systems. I troubleshoot them when they break, tear them apart, then put them back together and make them work. It's a great/dirty job and I wouldn't chose another job in the Air Force.

  • What a beast!

  • @1REDDAWN13 I work on them every day in the Air Force

  • @wills03 Nice.....Thanx for your service.....

Are you a crew chief or other shops?

  • Not that big of a deal. I see this every day! LOL!!

  • @wills03 How so?

  • ..Big yes the engine inlet are 8 feet across.

  • C17 is way more cool. Not as big but does the job better. I used to have footage of the first flight but the tape is long since degraded.

  • the RR's look like toys up against the plane haha

  • @falcon96kickass those are actually GE TF39s

  • holy tits that huge

  • @CrustyBumHol been in one at an airshow. ITS LIKE BEING IN A FREAKING HUMPBACK WHALE!!!

  • I suggest these guys to move away from the front of the turbines... In Tenerife (GCTS) a mechanic die being suctioned by one of these turbines.

  • You idiots have obviously never heard of the Tupolev, the Antonov....

  • @gfruy If you watch vids of Antonov, Tupolev, you always see the fire trucks are scrambled to put out the fire after the crash.

  • Communism is serious fools folly

  • @Paltum1

ye cant really say that id say.. cause if ye look at the ppl who live under a communist government, how they gonna feel bout that?? its a difficult topic indeed

  • eargasm

  • that is one big vacuumcleaner!

  • My wharehouse in Greensboro Nc is right on the runway glide path, and they sometimes do touch and go landings. LET ME TELL u that it shakes the WHOLE building. EVERYONE runs outside to watch, its AWESOME :-)

  • @rnrchickenman < I live close to the flight patch of runways 5/23. One day while I was home during lunch they apparently had just arrived with the C5 for T&G practice, startled at first but once everything quit shaking in my house I ran outside cause I knew it had to be the C5, and that it was! Truly huge with a unique sound ... at least until the engines are upgraded to the CF6's.

  • Looks like a guinea pig.

  • @Nomasain LOL...it does! hahaha

  • 18 people have no clue.

  • Im glad Weight watchers failed the C-5 :)

  • @78720 The C-5 is The Biggest Winner. Thumbs up. :P

  • That's galactic.

  • Dover Afb in delaware is about 45 miles away from my house and one of these planes flies over my house about twice a month, its an unmistakable sound

  • The C5A is out of commission a whopping 35% of the time due to repairs and servcing - the GE turbofans need to be overhauled every 1000 hrs - they have now all been re-winged and had re-designed cargo doors due to structural issues and accidents. Now they are to be re-engined but will that really make them more reliable or usable? To throw more money at a plane like this doesn't make a lot of sense.

  • Super bruit. Pas intérêt d'oublier le casque anti-bruit !!!!

  • i like c5 much more that c17.. its just.. just so nice and smooth

  • tats a big plane....

  • ITS TO BIG!

  • im wearing headphones listening to this and now my ears are ringing...

  • how much did this pos cost the tax payers

  • @MFP1520 It's worth my tax dollars to see this beauty in the air. How else are you going to fly massive amounts of cargo to a trans oceanic destination that quickly?

  • donno about you but this looks alot bigger than the KC-135, just look at the size of the nose on that thing!, looks big enough to hold 4 or more artillery tanks!

  • @borntorazehell777 its about two times the size of a kc-135

  • sounds like my vacuum cleaner

  • C5 Galaxy, my brother flies one in Air Force... im a fighter pilot in the Marines

  • @MattyMeatpie well i respect marine pilots hell of alot more than navy pilots lol, i got usaf blood in me, always been usaf navy rival

  • This is the Godfather of all airplanes.

  • Holy SHIT that thing is HUGE!

  • fuck thats big

  • I got to circumnavigate the planet on a C5B out of Travis back in 1996 with the 22nd Airlift Squadron. The mission wasn't supposed to fly around the world but a tire failure and subsequent gear retraction failure after takeoff from Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta airport made us divert to Diego Garcia instead of going back to Ascension Island. It took us 11 days to complete the trip. We went Travis-North Island-Ft.Campbell-Eglin-Roosevelt Roads-Ascension-Nairobi-Diego-Kadena-Guam-Hawaii-Travis.

  • dam its huge

  • TJBQ? Where is that ICAO at? Puerto Rico?

  • @IdolHans yes sir, Rramey Base Aguadilla Puerto Rico

  • wow what a sound!!!

  • FRED!

  • very cool, thank for sharing

  • good c-5 galaxy

  • @cokefan3 wtf? the russian plane in the movie 2012 is a An-225 Mriya, the only one in the world, its white and has 6 engines. This is a USAF C5a galaxy

  • @dasspr WELL SSSOOOOOORRY!!! :(

  • @dasspr nope, its a second an-225 prototype never completed that was used in 2012, it was probably greenscreened in a hangar (the prototype has the tail door but the usable one does not)

  • @instructablesderin I think the An-224 used in 2012 was just the work of CGI.. it looked extremely fake, particularly at the part where the Russian man says "It's Russian".

  • @scaremenga hmm could be as well...

  • @cokefan3 i dont think this c5 is in 2012, 2012 is bugger with 6 jets not 4 jets

  • @cokefan3 you're high on coke, right?

  • Comment removed

  • @cokefan3 The one from 2012 is an Antonov... It does not look like that in the movie

  • @47zencreative I posted that 3 months ago and really does not matter to me anymore. Ur probably the 15th person who responded to that comment saying it is an Antonov

  • i see em fly everday

  • massive!

  • long live US

  • Is it wrong to beat off to these videos?

  • thats one big motha fucka

  • The Good Old C5 Galaxy!!!

  • how small are the engines compared to the plane lol!

  • thats why they are gettin new engines for them

  • that thing is huge!!!!

    i've seen An124 and C-17...

    i can't compare...

    but that thing is huge!!!

  • the antonov 225 is much bigger than this but ur right its HUGE

  • thats nothing compared to Antonov 225..

  • You can tell Russian stuff is better...because they have to tell EVERYONE its better instead of proving it. Just like communism is so much better. I cant wait till America adopts communism and I can wait in the town square for dump trucks to drop off my wheelbarrow load of coal and my handful of toilet paper!

  • @HappyHappyHarold That is because their military equipment is better.

  • @HappyHappyHarold YOu're fucked up the mind! Look of how bad Russia is, how many poor people, and only moscow is beautifull and even it's not at all -.-

  • @Sl1z3r Are you that stupid that you could read into that sarcasm? I was ragging on all the stupid "OMG this Russian thing is better than that American thing"

    Don't be so dense.

  • @HappyHappyHarold your a dumbass

  • @HappyHappyHarold will never happen

    Democ for life!

  • @HappyHappyHarold

    ROFL!!! :)

  • @HappyHappyHarold Hate much fag

  • @HappyHappyHarold

    word bro, word

  • i like 2 american big planes are B-52 and C-5,,,

i dont like ussr russia planes at all

  • Idiot!

  • gulp...gulp.....gulp.....thirsty beast!

  • wheres the fire bottle at?

  • good question....lol

  • I remember when our fighter wing was deployed to Kuwait in 2003... they brought in a C-5 to carry our equipment.. our taxiways were barely wide enough to accomidate it, and when it took off fully loaded it used about 7500 of our 8000 ft long runway, it was insane. There were so many complaints from the surrounding community that the next two deployments were assisted by C-17's and KC-135's.

  • fuck thats a big plane

  • look at the Antonov AN225

  • why??? because its big.....

  • yeah lol

  • I heard it at dayton air show! LOUD!

  • Same here. I have a video of it too.

  • did u go?

  • Yes.

  • MY EARS!!!

  • Yeah, sure... Except for being completely unrelated.

  • lol... so true

  • NOT!

  • Not at all. The 747 and the C5-Galaxy are completely different sizes and airframes. There is no commonality between the two aircraft whatsoever.

  • hitched a couple of rides in those... cool enough.

  • gotta love the sound of those engines

  • haha nice

  • Thats, is, BIG.

  • the antonov 225 is big :P

  • It would be nice if they could keep it in the air though.

  • why are people giving him a thumbs down???

  • It's hard to believe the last C5 was made in 1970.

  • it's hard to believe that the 747 was made in the 1970s

  • First C-5's were dated 1966

  • @WASPfreak In 1984 a second production run of "B" C5 aircraft started. And now those B models are being modified with new more powerful engines and a complete glass cockpit.

  • i think i saw one of these in the air one day. Whatever it was was so massive, it was twice the size of a c-130. It was flying slow and it sounded tremendously powerful.

  • Cool! The c-5 is often mistaken with a c-17 in an untrained eye! But you can rapidly tell the difference because the c-5 is so loud! And the engines have a unique whistle/sound that no other plane has! Plus the c-17 is really quite

  • It was like that, like a whirring whining sound. it sounded very powerful. It was flying low, and slow, it was hard to tell how low because it was so massive, maybe 3,000 feet. It was the biggest vehicle ive ever seen in my life. i live in ga so it probably came from warner robbins.

  • Also, the C-17 has winglets.

  • @dasspr

Exactly. The eye doesn't tell you the difference between the two. The ear does.

  • @dasspr another thing about a C-5 and a C-17 is the nose on a c-5 opens up and the C-17 doesn't. and a C-5 is a lot bigger than a C-17

  • @dasspr where i live theres a whole base that has 16 C 5's their so i see them every day

  • Gotta love those F.R.E.D.'s!!

  • i've seen them in and out of moody (valdosta) a few times.

  • not bad

  • nice sound

  • I really wanna work on these one day or do something involved with the C-5.... ive been so obsessed with it and how it sounds and how it looks and everything rofl...... fuckin sick aircraft

  • Where do you live?

  • Best sounding engines ever. Once in a blue moon one lands at NAS Oceana and its much more exciting than hearing the Hornets all day.

  • wow i wonder how much fuel that uses.

  • Not as much as you'd think ;)

  • Actually, me think its alot. A couple hundred thousand pounds compared to the F-16's I crew.

  • Compared to an F-16 it uses massive amounts.

  • On an average 8-9 hour flight, fully loaded with cargo, it will burn between 220-250,000 pounds of fuel. Factors include altitude, outside temp and winds.

  • 113636L of fuel!? and i complain at the cost to fill my car at maybe 50-60L LoL

if i could get my hands on that much fuel it would last me a lifetime.

n they blow that every day ill bet.. n thats just one aircraft

  • i think this plane lookes really nice ^^

  • wooot that's a really big dick man

  • It is so ugly.......

  • It's not supposed to be pretty. That's just part of the C-5's charm.

  • I'm sure we'd all like the HMMVW's to be replaced with Lambo's and the Marines to be replaced with Miss America contestants, not me. I like the ballsey and bulky look of the beast :D

  • the engines sound like that of a 747

  • in no way what so ever....

  • one of those came by my base last week and 3 weeks ago because one of our units went tdy and jeez loueez i shoulda be a crew chief on heavies. nah i'd stick with my 16. lol

  • thats a big plane it looks like a big huge bird with wheels

  • Nice BUFF.

  • is that from a B747 ?

  • hu? how can it be from a 747? I dont get it... the plane in the vid is a USAF c-5 galaxy, and I was standing outside recording it several feet away

  • I meant, is the desing from the Boeing 747 ?

  • desing?

  • Yes, does it come from the 747 ?

(even if the wings are on top, it does look like it.

  • nope. it is its own design. it can carry TONS of cargo.

  • Well maybe only the front of the plane, caus the 747's wings are on the belly

  • is that the only plane you know or something

  • this plane had nothing to do with the 747!

  • @dasspr actually, it has a very little link to the 747 e.g boeing offered a design for the plane but lockheed's design was used, later the 747 was built from that rejected plane so that the 747-100F has a bit of commonality to the C-5

  • monster!!!

  • I love that sound

  • Excellent video.

  • Sounds like they're cranking them all up at almost the exact same time (this isn't typically done)

  • they only cranked up the number 1 engine, you can tell because only that engine has the "sucker" doors open, it takes alot longer to get all 4 running. You are right though, one at a time

  • Yea, you're right, I can only see the "sucker" doors open on #1.

  • The C-5's engines sound like a bunch of cats screaming while being thrown around in a dryer.

  • i could not imagine driving that big ass thing.

  • pft antonovs better

  • How's it better? Just because its bigger and hefts more engines? Size doesn't make an aircraft what it is.

  • well i just like the way it looks lol personal opinion =]
