I refuse to tell anyone that popular, aka, pop music is horrible and they can only listen to Gospel. I listen to and perform pop music all the time. But, there are things that shouldn't be promoted in that music. Dealing with issues such as sex and drugs is a great thing for musicians to do in their music. There are some artists that do this successfully, sadly there aren't that many. It would be great if Katy did this, but for now she has chosen no to do so.
It all comes back to having someone holding me. Everyone wants to be loved.. the thing is love is hard to find, and even harder to keep. We have Rock, Country, and R&B all telling us this every day. With Jesus it is impossible to stop being loved. He loves us whether we want him to or not. It's when we try and put other things first that we feel low and abandoned. The trick is that Jesus isn't the one that left us. We leave him for things we want. We just have to realize that he still loves us.

I have been performing since middle school, and I've been a Christian since I was about 9. I've been in everything from musicals to orchestras, and I haven't always been involved in the church. But, Christian means little Christ... So, Jesus i.e. "religion" is always a part of me. Even when I ignore it, I am always brought back around to it, especially when I question.

Just because she isn't singing Christian music doesn't mean she lost her faith. My father is a preacher as well and I can completely understand Katy's reason for changing her image...it's hard to live up to the perfection of being a pastor's kid. I think her heart is still for God, I just think she got disillusioned like we all do. I love her and wish her nothing but the best because aside from what anyone says about her, I think she is a genuine person...what you see is what you get.
Aside from losing her faith, I think the saddest part of her becoming Katy Perry is that THIS voice had to be autotuned before she could get any serious attention.
I don't know - sounds to me like she's finally broken free from the repression of over-bearing parents. This is what happens when you don't let your kid have ANY exposure to the world/other types of music - they can't wait to escape from the "cage" you've raised them in. @ForeverNeverland100 God demonstrated ONCE, His conditional love for this world, by sending Jesus ONCE to die for those who will choose to believe and obey Him. Psalm 5:5 CLEARLY states, "The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: Thou (God) HATES ALL workers of iniquity (sin)". Therefore, God HATES ALL SINNERS, but He does have a benevolent type of CARE in that He does not wish for sinners to continue sinning and go to Hell. He showed love in action for sinners ONCE.

God did ONE loving ACT for rebellious sinners, by sending His Son to die; He saw the need for man to escape His eternal wrath, so He met that need...period. He made a way for those who would look to Jesus and obey Him, to escape His horrible, eternal wrath, towards sinners. To build a doctrine of God being currently in love with EVERYBODY, on Jn.3:16, is error.
@ForeverNeverland100 "For God so loved the world" is in the AORTIST tenses, (of Greek verbs). The aorist tense means that on one occasion, God ONCE loved the world. It is saying that on ONE occasion in history, God agape'd the world. Agape' means, "acting to meet a need". The word 'loved' is not in the present continuous tense. We cannot build on this verse the idea that God loves sinners, or everybody, all the time. It is not there in the text. Jn. 3:16 is about how God provided a way out.

@carbonatedturd He didn't need you to ask Him. It's a gift, and whether you accept it or not is completely up to you. I accepted it, which means that He forgave me of all my sins, and I'm going to heaven. I still sin, of course. No human is perfect, except Jesus Christ, but we can be forgiven. This helps today, because He can give you peace in times of trouble, we can do all things through Him, and He will make us better people.
@carbonatedturd that is what we christians do. We pray even to those who sneer and jeer and shun us. We treat everyone as with equal concern and respect, however others may treat us back. That is what sets us apart from others - you jeer at your challengers. We pray for ours.

I refuse to tell anyone that popular, aka, pop music is horrible and they can only listen to Gospel. I listen to and perform pop music all the time. But, there are things that shouldn't be promoted in that music. Dealing with issues such as sex and drugs is a great thing for musicians to do in their music. There are some artists that do this successfully, sadly there aren't that many. It would be great if Katy did this, but for now she has chosen no to do so.

It all comes back to having someone holding me. Everyone wants to be loved.. the thing is love is hard to find, and even harder to keep. We have Rock, Country, and R&B all telling us this every day. With Jesus it is impossible to stop being loved. He loves us whether we want him to or not. It's when we try and put other things first that we feel low and abandoned. The trick is that Jesus isn't the one that left us. We leave him for things we want. We just have to realize that he still loves us.

I have been performing since middle school, and I've been a Christian since I was about 9. I've been in everything from musicals to orchestras, and I haven't always been involved in the church. But, Christian means little Christ... So, Jesus i.e. "religion" is always a part of me. Even when I ignore it, I am always brought back around to it, especially when I question.

My father is a preacher as well and I can completely understand Katy's reason for changing her image...it's hard to live up to the perfection of being a pastor's kid. I think her heart is still for God, I just think she got disillusioned like we all do. I love her and wish her nothing but the best because aside from what anyone says about her, I think she is a genuine person...what you see is what you get.

But now that shes KATY PERRY singing about peacocks everyone pays attention and then they come across her old videos and make comments about how much better the "old her" was?? I bet if people paid more attention to HUDSON things would be a lot different for her, the world lost its chance now. And its still happening, artists who talk from the heart USUALLY get ignored until they go commercial.

I can't speak for ALL Christians, but speaking for myself, I don't hate Katy Perry. Far from it. I AM disappointed with the road she's chosen, at least the image she's putting out there for the public. What's going on in her heart is between her and God, but I don't think she's a bad person...just misguided. The music she makes now is catchy and popular...but empty. (I do like her new song "Who Am I Living For", though.)

@ForeverNeverland100 God demonstrated ONCE, His conditional love for this world, by sending Jesus ONCE to die for those who will choose to believe and obey Him. Psalm 5:5 CLEARLY states, "The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: Thou (God) HATES ALL workers of iniquity (sin)". Therefore, God HATES ALL SINNERS, but He does have a benevolent type of CARE in that He does not wish for sinners to continue sinning and go to Hell. He showed love in action for sinners ONCE.

@ForeverNeverland100 Thank you. The Bible clearly states that God hates sinners (Ps.5:5). The word "love" has many different meanings. God did ONE loving ACT for rebellious sinners, by sending His Son to die; He saw the need for man to escape His eternal wrath, so He met that need...period. He made a way for those who would look to Jesus and obey Him, to escape His horrible, eternal wrath, towards sinners. To build a doctrine of God being currently in love with EVERYBODY, on Jn.3:16, is error.

@ForeverNeverland100 "For God so loved the world" is in the AORTIST tenses, (of Greek verbs). The aorist tense means that on one occasion, God ONCE loved the world. It is saying that on ONE occasion in history, God agape'd the world. Agape' means, "acting to meet a need". The word 'loved' is not in the present continuous tense. We cannot build on this verse the idea that God loves sinners, or everybody, all the time. It is not there in the text. Jn. 3:16 is about how God provided a way out.

@lolalucy14 actually, that is how the most well-regarded vocalists of all time sing. Clarity in singing is not paramount, emotion and feel is. Sometimes they sing with so much emotion, you actually feel what they feel though you can't hear what they're singing about. And about music overpowering her voice... Well.. Is it not why this is called MUSIC? It's in the name. Any artist who puts singing above music in making music calls themselves 'musicians' in vain. It SHOULD be all about the music.

There are some innocent poeple that die, and it's the consequence of other people's sin. He tries not to intervene in the live of those who have chosen not to follow Him, and because of that, their sin effects everyone around them. This is not His plan. It's because people have chosen not to follow His plan that these things happen. It is not His will that any should suffer.

I accepted it, which means that He forgave me of all my sins, and I'm going to heaven. I still sin, of course. No human is perfect, except Jesus Christ, but we can be forgiven. This helps today, because He can give you peace in times of trouble, we can do all things through Him, and He will make us better people.
