  • OH yeah.

While this worked for Jack, it certainly can kill a persons back.

I love a lot of Jacks style, but some things I just cant do without having to live in pain killers. I can see why he'd have had to had hip surgery .

  • The two extremes of swing plane among legendary golfers are Hogan (flattest) and Nicklaus (steepest). Nearly all tour pros of today are somewhere between the two. That being said, Nicklaus had a great swing that won him 18 majors, but the back problems that he suffers from today have led to an "evolution" to a swing that is much easier on the body, particularly the lower back. These may prove to be good tips for a seasoned golfer, but beginners could hurt themselves trying to swing like Jack.

  • @searching4circlesend

    absolutely agree.

Years ago I bought a book by Jack as a newbie and while it did help me hit better, I was living on ibuprofen...upwards of 18 a day....just to keep the back pain bearable.

It made me give up golf for more than a decade.

Recently I started playing again, this time with a more convention swing and after a number of rounds and thousands of balls hit over 2 months I havent had even the slightest discomfort in my back.
