The phantom of the opera one remake doesn't count due to it mainly based on the musical. It's not really a horror movie, just following the main lines of the broadway musical.
Best part in the movie is when the little girl befriends Frankenstein and tells the other kids as their freaking the fuck out "Come on guys, don't be such chicken shits!" Jesus was that funny!!
If the Below mentioned were to happen, everyone in the world would die from Astonishment, even the actors. Oh, also... Maybe Jackie Chan... A Bruce Lee zombie... I dunno, who else.... George Clooney... I give up. The thought's just too great......
Who else agree's there needs to be a movie with Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein, Dr. Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Chucky, Jason, Freddy, the Mummy, Leatherface, Ghostface, Pinhead, Leprechaun, Godzilla, Every single one of Godzilla's enemies, King Kong, Jekyll and Hyde, Hunchback, Ash, Michael Myers... anyone i'm forgetting? The Blob... um... Phantom of the Opera... Van Helsing... I guess ... Maybe throw in Tom Hanks and Will Farrell... Megan Fox... Chuck Norris...
Please check out the Trailer for "Weekend at the Cabin" and Purchase your own copy or rent it today. Help support your Indie Artist. Tell a friend. Have a great day.
The Wolfman reminds me to the Terminator. I always scream, okay I only surprised and said: faszom (suck my d.ck), when it gets up again, again, and again (3 times i remember)
Did you know that throughout the whole movie the actor who played Dracula had to go without his fangs and contacts because they scared the little girl? So for that scene where he picked her up and called her a bitch, they put them back in without telling her so they could get a real scream
I love this movie for many reasons, one of which is its completely and utterly an 80s movie with all the 80s touches (right down to a "getting ready" montage complete with a cheesy rock anthem "Rock It Till You Drop!"...although what that has to do with a monster movie is beyond me).
I also like its cheerfull political incorrectness. The kids swear like real junior high kids and actually use guns and whatnot. And the fat kid is actually nicknamed "Fat Kid!"
Wolf man's got nards! Of course he does since he has a human form. 1:55 BULLSHIT! That shouldn't happen since I have seen werewolves get killed by something other than silver. Anything could kill them if it did enough damage it's just that silver is more effective.
When i saw "Count Chocula" ceral i knew if they spelt it wrong every little kid in the world will say "Mommy, the new ceral is great, i love Count Crochula"!
you should check out "Mad Monster Party" from 1967. it has Dracula, Dr. Frankenstein, Frankenstein's monster, Bride of Frankenstein, The Wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and King Kong (called "It" for some reason). EXTREMELY UNDERRATED
I used to watch this movie every single day and I do mean every day for like 2 years of my childhood. It got to the point where my dad swapped out a rental for the copy I owned because I warped the tape! every time I mention this movie nowadays it seems nobody understands wtf i'm talking about. I'm the Nerd gets it, fuck yea Nerd!
loved the movie would hate to see them destroy it by chucking too many special effects ,top list stars its classic leave it alone put it on tv more aswell
Many "family" movies I watched w/my daughter growing up but have to admit Monster Squad has to be the best tribute to classic universal monsters ever made. We need movies like that to help educate today's kids of the great actor's & monster's of history!
@ 0:23, I keep wondering what movie that clip's from, I see it a lot. (Channeling the Angry Video Game Nerd) It looks like it should be called "Attack of the Feces Monsters from Uranus."
Back on topic, this is a good movie; It's like if the Goonies had to fight the classic Universal monsters. I'll almost certainly be doing a screening of it some time over the next few weeks as part of my own Monster Madness marathon.
Lol. Wolfman is like Wolverine. Grumpy, hairy bastards with claws and no mather what you use to destroy them, they just pick up their limbs and grow em back on. The only thing that can kill him is a magical weapon: a silver bullit or the Muramasa-blade(magical samurai-sword with a piece of Wolverine's soul that negates healing-factors)
Monster Squad is one of my all-time favorite movies, I grew up with this movie. It also inspired me to write a "Monster Squad-type" movie featuring The Tall Man, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and Chucky ( I have seen the faux trailer called The Monster Squad 2 and aware of its plot).
I have a funny filmidea!!! THe old monsters(dracula, frankenstein and co) versus the new monsters (jason, freddy and the other guys)! this would become a horrorwar!!! XD
@kungfoolkyle1998 Leatherface is a character, he was based off of Ed Gein who only killed two people. He was a grave robber, not a serial killer. Leatherface's house and "furniture" and such was inspired by Gein, who lived in Wisconsin, not Texas.
Man, I saw this when I was a kid and it still comes into my head every so often. The thing is, I had no idea what the movie was called for the longest time. Now I finally know, and can watch it again sometime.
@brunoafh123 I know what you mean I saw only about the second act of the movie one day while I went over to a friend's house to play, he was the one that introduced me to the name of all the movie monsters. And now being older every chance I get I try to find the DVD in the video stores so I can rent it and watch the full movie again.
Just watched this movie on Blu Ray! And it was pretty damn good! I gotta say one thing though: I wish i saw this when i was a kid, cos then i wouldve downright loved it! xD
Platinum Dunes said that they might remake Monster Squad and since they already remade Texas Chainsaw Massacre Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street maybe it will star the slasher villains instead of the classic movie monsters almost like a modern day sequel instead of remaking it with the classic movie monster again.

Loved Monster Squad. Apparently they had to change the look of the monsters in the film or else face a lawsuit from Universal. The late Stan Winson did the makeup for the film, and he talks about it in his book. A really fun movie. Btw, as also mentioned in the book, the werewolf is based on Stan Winston's face. He actually enjoyed the reference to himself. Gotta say tho that I disliked Van Helsing. Gonna see if I can find this film on Rapidshare sometime.
