  • A truely great composition from a sadly neglected composer. Personally I prefer Nikolai Demidenko's recording on Helios (Hyperion), but this interpretation is very interesting inspite of the uneven sound quality at times. Thanks for the post!

  • will you play the Dithyramb Mark? =)

  • i hope i will... :)

  • P.S. I also really enjoyed the Igor Zhukov recordings of Scriabin's sonatas. There are probably hundreds of generally unrecognised pianists out there - it's nice to see some people keeping an ear out for talent such as this.

  • I first came across this piece fairly recently in an interpretation by Nikolai Demidenko and was instantly hooked. Its gorgeous harmonies and soaring melodies, combined with a strange poignant power, makes this piece one which I would love to learn if time and technique allow! Thank you for posting this highly-underrated piece!

  • you're welcome!

  • What year is this beautiful recording from?

  • i don't know exactely, but from the 50's

  • Fantastic interpretation, fire, passion, control & mastery of the big idea all combined in playing of rare quality. This fascinating piece needs all this to avoid th usual comments like: "too complex.."or "grey,colorless"..etc. Brumberg is a real discovery, i want to hear as much as possible. He does the maximum for Med, Liapunov & Liszt, all that i've heard so far. Thank you so much.

  • As bad as the quality is (I know, it's an old recording...), the pure beauty of this piece is still able to clearly shine through. I've never heard this before, and it is truly gorgeous. When you listen to this and other Medtner pieces, you have to wonder why he isn't popular. I mean, his music is so much more... interesting than the more popular Bach and Mozart.

  • so beautiful!
