  • i thought left foot braking is what u are supposed to do anyway

  • @AdamKhanRs5 Yes but you can't do it when the car has a manual clutch pedal. I think he's just explaining that there is no need to use the clutch with a semi automatic, and therefore the left foot is free to brake.

  • I know it's easy to say that oval racing requires less skill than road racing, but it's simply not true. Between the slipstream and side draft, the driver has to handle the effects of airflow to a far greater extent than road racing. They also have to be more flexible in adjusting their line since a pass may take a couple corners if not a few laps. Yes, they don't brake much if at all and they don't shift, but that just means what they have left to do they must perfect that much more.

  • @gturner38 im not a race car driver, and you might be, but i still dont believe you, F1 drivers have to do all that with the same precision, as well as braking, shifting, and throttle control to get the win. Oval driving is tricky, but not more difficult than a road course.

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • @BonakiD24

    agreed.

  • Anyone looking for a driver for their F1 team?

I would be more than willing to try out :D

  • @chuckn11 Yes me too !!! maybe I can be teammate with Robert Kubica ejjeje

  • and F1, while it does seem boring at times with the drivers driving so apart each other, on rainy days they race wheel to wheel on a wet track, with spray blinding them and a lot of work to do finding each braking point or whatever...

THAT'S SKILL... not driving round ovals...

  • Ovals require a fair amount of skill, but nothing like driving on proper race tracks...

i understand you need proper throttle control to be fast on ovals.. and the wheel to wheel racing is something special in ovals...

But racing Touring Cars at Brands Hatch need throttle control, braking control, steering control, and you get an incredible amount of wheel to wheel battles...

  • i'm not listening to a theory on how to drive from an american pilot

  • @topkartracer To say I do it for a living Is probably unfair as I work another job aswell but I make enough to get by, so don't sit there questioning me when you clearly havnt done the research on the subject, especially as your talking about Kobayashi? Very talented driver as he proved today in Spain but u were probably too busy watching reject formula drivers go in circles

  • @debougie ha ha yeah 200 mph in a circle. face it you have no argument, f1 cars do 200mph on a straight and then brake down to about 60mph in about 50m. that is skill, driving in a circle is not! i mean theres nothing to it, they use the same aero dynamics pack every race because the track is identicle. and just to let you know i do know how hard it is to drive a formula car on its limit, i race formula 3 for a living. the muppet in the video would crash on a proper track. Fact

  • @kav996 You don't race F3 for a living, there is no way at all to make a profit big enough to live on in F3. Dumbass.

Fact

  • indie 500 is for reject formula one drivers, my granny can drive in a circle. what a stupid sport. Formula one is true single seater racing, for actualy gifted drivers, not just some loosers driving in a constant circle flat out the whole time

  • @kav996 You are an imbecile. you have no idea how hard is it to drive a Formula car at 200mph on its limit

  • @kav996 Yeah because Kamui Kobayashi and Karun Chandok are sooo talented

  • the guy talking means by left foot braking keeping your left foot over the brake at all times, this way reducing the time needed to alternate gas/brake pedal before and sometimes in a corner, this being achieved through experience on the track in this case.

  • Blending throttle and/or brake into a corner in F1 is the fastest way to spin your car off the track. You can't 'wrestle' an F1 car around a corner; it's straight line braking to the apex, turn, and throttle out. The margin for error in picking the braking point is tiny. Trying to move around in the braking zone is only going to end badly.

  • Understeer is the car steering less than the driver asked because the front wheels are sliding. As for doing what he describes in an F1 car not working, F1 drivers do exactly what he describes, blending braking with throttle into corners.

  • what do you need to know about understeer?? I can answer most basic questions about understeering..

  • I have a question, where is the emotion to drive a car ever to left? How you can to say that "race".

Sincerely explain me, because I don't understand why pilots like the ovals.

  • Oval Racing and European track racing is a huge difference. In Ovals you have constantly high speed and you have to stay with other drivers to get the slipstream. Without it you don't have a chance. Strategy is also important as hell. These are two types of racing you cannot compare at all. And it is a race, even closer then F1. For our (I guess your European to?) eyes it might seem boring but when you spend some time with it you'll lean what is so special about it.

  • I don't race ovals, but I can tell that it's more competitive racing with many cars packed together trying to get the most out of the draft. The qualifying must be so close and during a race, it is possible to start way back come up to the front to win. For drivers that like to wheel to wheel battle with other drivers, ovals will offer the most of it. Also, the ovals are not all full throttle they need very precise throttle control to get the most out of it.

  • @NapalmCandy how is it less of a race by taking out right hand turns? you're saying they're not racing now? they're not defending positions and taking positions? how is that not the definition of racing?and driving flat out is one thing, but on tracks where they have to slow down for the turns, how is it any less of a driving challenge than slowing down for a right turn? how come villenouve or franchitti or montoya or carpantier or piquet or ambrose or allmendinger or speed havent won an oval?

  • @NapalmCandy drive ovals yourself and youll know why.

  • @NapalmCandy i felt the same as you did until one of the sim racing leagues i take part at put an Oval in the Calendar. Its waaay harder then it looks, it takes a lot of practice to be competitive at those high speeds and use the draft in order to be faster than your opponents. Go get Iracing or something similar and try racing against those american oval junkies, they will utterly destroy you and you will be thinking "wtf, i thought this was just streering to the left, how hard can it be?" :P

  • @NapalmCandy first every corner is different. sometimes you gotta be as gentle as with your girlfriend. sometimes you gotta be quick in reaction to keep up the speed. there is lots of things to get right to control the car perfectly. an amateur has no chance to get this right at the absolute limit. the best drivers have to train for years to get to the level that f1 drivers are at and i mean hard training. a race car is like an instrument with two pedals and a wheel. sounds easy but very hard.

  • @oooodaxteroooo Write this message again after see a on board Rally Stage.

  • @NapalmCandy ive seen lots and i like it very much. your reactions dont have to be as quick - its a bit like driving on pot. xD really, love it very much. heard about the sebastian loeb challenge in paris this week? :)))

have you been driving a 300+ bhp car on the right track? rallye is more like an extreme sport to me while normal race driving is more about competition.

  • @NapalmCandy ...or to say it with a video: v=_HjXXUyQhPE

  • @oooodaxteroooo I like that :)

    /watch?v=MSrDD3tcibU

    This is awesome racing!!

  • @NapalmCandy well i personally agree with you, it's kinda boring watching cars going around for like 400 laps? i know, but some say it's fun to watch, there are lots of overtakes, lead constantly changing all that stuff, i think that now f1 is going to be much more boring than this, at least if somebody crash there it won't get a penality...

  • @NapalmCandy

Don't be so concerned with the layout, but with the way people drive on ovals. Sure there are few braking points if at all, however; it's probably more dangerous because you still have to push to go fast, and more than one car can be on any line at any time.

  • @NapalmCandy The challenge on a road course is to get the most out of the car without crashing and drive good laps consistently. The challenge on an oval is to get the most out of the draft, handle the higher G-forces and the wheel-to-wheel racing. If you watch the IndyCar race on Kentucky Speedway a few weeks ago you'll see that they're literally running two, three wide and wheel-to-wheel. So the challenging parts of road courses and ovals are different, but they're equal in difficulty to run.

  • @sesselfurzer2000 and as we saw two weeks after that, pack racing is a deathtrap waiting to happen. give the cars more horsepower, far less downforce, make them lift off the gas, use the brakes and make them DRIVE the cars.

  • @jiminey6969 Sure it's kinda like a death-trap but do you really think that making them lift off the gas will prevent accidents like at Vegas? They will probably lose 10 to 15 mph while lifting off the gas but that won't be enough to keep the cars on the ground. In NASCAR there are roof flaps, in IndyCar they'll have a new car next year which is supposed to keep the cars on the ground and minimize the possibility of getting airborne. And as mentionned before, it's another way of DRIVING a car.

  • @NapalmCandy I think it has something to do with flying around a circuit at 200+ mph and the adrenaline it produces. Watch the Indy 500 and tell me how many times the cars dip under 200 mph, hell even 210.

  • if you done what he is talking about in a f1 car ...the car would spin out

  • actually...not really. learn more =)

  • Formula one is real racing, americans suck in making racing cars. Formula one is the highest level of racing.

  • @peyspeys Our Corvette GT2 team is pretty damn good

  • Oh yes, understeer, tricky concept that. I'm sure there's an answer somewhere in the name, I just can't seem to find it....
