RONNIE WAS COUNTRY MAN AT HEART,BUT THE ONLY 2 BOOKS SAY HE WAS GOING TO DO A COUNTRY ALBUM MERLE HAGGARD WAS HIS HERO,BUT I HEAR THERES ANOTHER BOOK COMMING OUT
@mcgaheefamily According to Judy RVZ never listened to Rock and Roll while at home..All his listened to was Merle Haggard. RVZ owned every Merle Haggard album ever recorded up until his death, and yes in 1978 the plans were in place for RVZ to do a country album with Merle and Waylon Jennings...
@mcgaheefamily Whats gonna be the name of the book, my son got me one for Christmas he knows im a RVZ original LS nut, and i didnt have this particular book.
@mrdon09 So what are ya Hillbilly or nigger? Because those two dont meet up in the south. I know I am from the south and when I was a boy there was colored town and our side. neither one went to the others. And I still prefer it that way.
@mcgaheefamily I think this was just a song showing their country influences because all the interviews I've heard I never heard him say anything about a country album
Why the hell do fuckwhistles insist that there was nothing country about Skynyrd???????????Grow brains...Listen to this...Swamp Music...Railroad Song Cannot you fuckheads hear the country influence?????????????
no one can take your place, and we lost the best there ever was. What a band none better before them, and sure as hell no better after them meaning Ronnie Van Zant best frontman ever. Just stood there and looked straight at the crowd . Man we miss him still after almost 34 yrs. You was the best.. Steve and Cassie also R.I.P.
i don,t know i don,t play, my son does, he said maybe c-e-d. go to a record store, and see if they have a skynyrd music book, you would be shocked what you can fine, all the older music book.
@Righty736 Once you get past Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird (the only skynyrd songs I've heard on the radio), the original band really had some depth to it.
@Righty736 they play other too..like gimme three steps, that smell, Tuesdays gone, don't ask me no questions, the ballad of curtis lowe, simple man...but i agree this band is soo much better then what people hear on the radio
this is awesome, never heard it before,a real beautiful song for sure. Can anyone help me here, I have been trying to find a song I believe Lynyrd Skynyrd may have done, not sure about this. the song has the words " Ain't no tea for my fever, ain't no potion for my pain" in it, and it sounds like a slow tempo blues styled song. I have no idea what the song's title is, but any help is welcome. thanks
@m3a41lt The song is most likely "No Potion for the Pain" by the Charlie Daniels Band. It was originally released on the "Full Moon" album but has also been included on some CDB's greatest hits CD's.
@WVFreebyrd Thank you for your help. now that I think about it {thanks to you"joggling"my memory} I had that album back in 1985, and misplaced it , some friend probably has it . Anyways thanks and I wish you the best!
Question???? After Gary (the LAST REBEL) goes. Will music ever be the same? And if it was'nt for for the SKYNYRD library, would music even be worth listenning?
Damn damn damnit all to hell--------WHY ON EARTH DO WE ALWAYS LOSE THE GREAT ONES??? I sure miss you guys!! No one can take your place Ronnie!!!--------Think I'll go for a drive.
This is classic Skynyrd. No doubt the best Souther Rock Band ever !! So many styles covered and always just down to earth. Glad I am 49 years old cause it aloud me to catch this music right from the start. Influenced mt guitar playing quite a bit. God bless L.S. !!!
It's official. They were the best band in the whole damn world. They could play rock, country and blues, all with aplomb. Makes me pround to be southern. Rip Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson and Billy Powell.
@IxIFLASHxBANGIxI No. It looks like they're right in the middle of recording "I Never Dreamed", and I'll tell you why. Steve plays both an electric and an acoustic in that song, and the moment in which this picture was taken, Steve has a B flat chord formed, which comes around a lot in that song. Also, Steve only used his Les Paul in songs that he had a lot to do with. For example, "I Know a Little", which he wrote, "You Got That Right", which he co-wrote and sang lead with Ronnie in...
@IxIFLASHxBANGIxI "I Never Dreamed", which he also co-wrote, and "Ain't No Good Life", which he wrote. You can tell by his tone if he was using his Stratocaster or his Les Paul, and in those four songs he played his Les Paul.
I was helping a friend in vernon connecticut strip a 69 cougar in his parents yard and the announcement came over the radio about the plane crash, we stopped what we were doing and started pounding beers..
I remember buying a Skynyrd CD set and saying to myself,........ ''hmm, what's this song? Never heard this one before''---------when the song ended I was speechless, WOW!!
I'll never forget listening to KMET in Los Angeles on that October day of 77 and hearing the news.....
Tony, Thanks for this gem! There is another rare Skynyrd tune I really like and have never seen (or heard) on youtube and that is "Bad Boy Blues" ... I would love to see that great blues tune on here.

I used to sit at Tim Lindsey's music store and jam with him and Leon and I will never forget going fishing with Billy and Tim and partying at the JAX landing afterward. Everyone in this band has multiple talent and thats what makes their sound indelible in a world of mass produced shit! The real deal!!
