  • I always get excited when I hear that there's a tornado watch in my area. But then I watch videos like this, and then it is much less exciting and more terrifying. I wasn't born until like 3 years after this storm occurred, but I'm sure it was just an awful experience to go through.

  • There were 21 fatalities and 463 injuries in this infamous November 15, 1989 Huntsville tornado.

  • @ILovestorms, then it must have been 2.5 miles wide.

  • @talladegajunkie1439 No, is wasn't that wide. I don't think even the EF5 Greensburg, Kansas tornado of May 4, 2007 was THAT wide.

  • @ILovestorms, the Greensburg, Kansas EF5 was 1.7 miles wide, so it wasnt off by much.

  • that's weird.

  • I was in this tornado.. I'd just taken a left off of Airport road onto Whitesburg going toward Drake Avenue.. hadn't made it there yet when the storm came through.. I glanced down at the clock in my car while waiting at the light to make the left.. it was 4:33 PM... sunny and breezy.

  • I remember well the storm in 89 that hit because the tornadoe went right over my house ...

  • Thank you for posting this video, great job, being born and raised in Huntsville I remember this very well.

  • in third grade my teacher showed us the news ch. 19 version of this, the teacher was in the tornado too, she went to holy spirit school and she was n 4th-5th grade

  • It completely demolished Jones Valley Elementary...my cousin was in that school at the time. Thank goodness he was fine. Just some cuts and bruises.

  • Wheres the old channel 19 footage?

  • Someone's probably digging through and looking for it, give them a chance.

  • it also blew pics of people onto our land and we lived at skyline

  • @nenebobb I heard stories about that. I heard a Goldbro sign was found in Gurley.

  • it struck about *one* mile from where I once lived

  • And alot of trouble with hecklers and people gawking at the media cameras. I remember this day well.

  • This was 5 years before I was born, and it struck about ~5 miles away from my house.
