  • Thank you for sharing... Capoeira, although very young, is a tremendous art.

    "um grande abraco camarada"

    axe.

  • @grurbanopt76 Thank YOU for your amazing skill passion and dedication, Animado! You and Tarzan are a credit to capoeira! Aaand capoeira is about 500 (some sources say 600+) years old,so that's pretty decent age for a young martial art. Not as old as say Chinese gungfu but definitely a truly wonderful martial art with vastly underrated benefits. AXE,ANIMADO.

  • Thank you for sharing such a hidden art... Capoeira, although very young, is a tremendous art.

    "um grande abraco camarada"

    axe.

  • @ATACXGYM Thanks for the informative video! I do have some questions. Can heavyset or bigger people (230 lbs or more) effectively learn capoeira? Also, I know that the kicks of capoeira are devastating, but what about the submissions, punches, and knees? I think I might be interested in learning it for self-defense so I just want to ask some questions! Thanks again!

  • @MrMidnightSpecialist There was a capoeirista in the 1800s named Gigante--GIANT--and he carried an axe with him at all times AND did capoeira WITH the axe. My version of self defense capoeira is different than most in that: 1) IT WORKS and 2) WE FIGHT ANYBODY WITH IT...we treat it as the martial art geared for modern and ancient times that it is.We do rodas and music too but we never sacrifice the combative aspects. I will send you more videos to your inbox now.

  • capoeira is one thing im working on for all winter this and jeet kun do will be a awesome mix, thanx for tha vid man.

  • @187BlackWolf Thank you for your wonderful words of support my friend! there are several more capoeira videos coming up during the first two weeks of 2012.Hope you like them at least as much as you like this one!

  • capoeira is garbage looks great...real world effective...give me a break...

  • @RonSchinners You're simply amazingly ignorant.Capoeira has been proven in war against the slavers--whom they defeated,btw--to be absolutely devastating in combat when trained functionally. The Portuguese (for example) left thousands of documents citing the devastation capoeira wreaked both in Brazil and in Angola where Queen Nzinga and her warriors utterly defeated them and all other slavers AT THE SAME TIME with it.Read your history,Ron,and try not to make ignorant statements.

  • @RonSchinners And you can't kick someone in the face,as you just claimed, when they kicked you in the nuts. You'd be in too much pain.As for the cartwheel kick NOT working? I suggest that you look up "cartwheel kick" right here on youtube. It works in fights and you'll see plenty of examples from MMA to Muay Thai kickboxing to bareknuckle karate to point fighting karate as to how wrong you are.Train it functionally, and you can use it in a fight.simple.Like I said.

  • i train capoeira forr three years keep posting the vieos so i can learn

  • @FARRANGOLA Thank you very much for your wonderful support! please sub to my Channel as more techs like this is forthcoming.I have a capoeira tech in my CHECKING THE STORM PT. 4 video....

  • Capoeira(?) might be the most misunderstood, misinterpreted, AND the most underrated martial art, simply because of all the negative feed backs it receives from the media, & the so-called "skilled" m.a.'ists. It's like saying that TKD, because it's full of kicks in sparring competitions, isn't effective. Just because it's hidden in dance-like movements, doesn't mean it doesn't work. Unfortunately, for the life of me, I can't do any capoeira moves, lol XD! It helped my back become flexible though

  • @Loyal2law Capoeira is even more maligned than aikido and TKD are,and since I hold a black in Urban Hapkido and a 5th dan in TKD,I can absolutely assure you that the reps that these arts have are completely undeserved. Capoeira is utterly lethal, and has added a great deal to already lethal machines like Anderson Silva. The movement, combination, defense and striking options that capoeira offers when trained functionally is so good that it's absurd. I have another capoeira vid coming next week

  • @ATACXGYM MA can't be judged in the ring, especially when the discipline isn't styled for the ring. Yes, ring competitions are good, but it's not the end-all on summarizing m.a., capoeira, tkd, aikido, etc., included, & I'm happy to meet someone like you who saw capoeira's deadly potential. Heck, I look at break dancers as m.a.'ists now, lol XD! Will be looking forward to your next capoeira vid =D!

  • @Loyal2law Very true. Almost any martial art can be modified for the ring, but ALL martial arts are effective in self-defense first...if trained functionally. The key is functional training. Like one of my GYM mottos goes:"IT'S NOT JUST WHAT YOU KNOW,IT'S HOW YOU TRAIN." This next video of mine featuring capoeira has a plethora of strikes, arm locks, takedowns, and finishes with a very functional, lethal wicked head butt-cartwheel combo

  • amazing video! much respect. I training in capoeira as well

  • @filipinorice thank you very much for the props, sir! I really appreciate the respect and intelligence and perception that you display by clearly seeing the combat applicability of what I just demonstrated!

  • nice explanation dude, i got the point and totally agree. greetings from Luanda Indonesia :)

  • @pemaincadangan Greetings from Long Beach California,USA my brother! I am very glad that you like the explanation! I have nearly 2 dozen more capoeira videos in the pipeline,I'm just getting the footage up to par.All of the techs have the explanation then the street speed application in actual sparring, including lots of basics that people don't know that capoeira has: Clinch, knees, elbows, punches, animal hand strikes, sweeps, throws, slams, takedowns, head butts, and of course capoeira's unique arsenal

  • Still don't buy it, untill I see it triumph over another skilled fighter using more modern fighting techniques, sorry :(...Please don't beat me up :D

  • @Banminator No problem at all I understand your concerns man.But do yourself a favor: look up on youtube the many times that cartwheel kicks have been used in real competition vs modern fighters ranging from point fighting karate to bareknuckle karate to kickboxing to MMA and see how many KO's and stuns resulted from it.Then come back and look at mine and see that my technique is actually set up even BETTER than the dozens of successful cartwheel kicks you'll find on Youtube.

  • @ATACXGYM So you promise not to beat me up then :P

  • @Banminator LOLOLOL promise my brother...if you promise to subscribe to my channel right now.Lol. I need the subscribers.Soon I'm going to put out the most comprehensive DVDs of their kind on the market, and I'll show you how I do this tech vs really fighting people in REAL TIME fighting situations.Sport, bareknuckle, and impromptu street sparring which is almost a street fight.

  • @ATACXGYM thats something id like to see, subbed

  • @Banminator Culling through some of the video footage and my brother says he found vids of me pulling this cartwheel kick off in the street, during a minor altercation in some apartment complexes in the hood, and in the kickboxing gym. I think he has video of me doing it in tournaments too.

  • tobad i can't use this on my baby mama's haha jk

  • @northwestrawness hahahahaha you're crazy bruh!

  • <3 awesome!!! i am in the mood for fight lol amazing martial arts channel with great informative & practical videos :) no wonder why you can stay that young at age 110 lol thank you so much for posting & sharing*^o^* <3

  • @AphroditeEros33 You are totally magnificent my fantastic martial arts sister! Thank you very much for your wonderful comments and support!

  • great video very helpful and always nice to see someone illuminated arts that people deem inefective

  • @HannibalBarca5 Thank you so very much Hannibal! Especially in regards to capoeira (even moreso than aikido),most people are abominably ignorant of its history and incredible self-defense efficacy. When trained properly, capoeiristas are magnificent in self-defense; just like any other functionally trained martial art. What I find to be so hilarious is the adamant ignorance and position of detractors denigrating the "acrobatic" techs of capoeira...but love Anderson Silva although he's capoeira.

  • cool mate !i like!!is the punch that is going to hurt!!?is there a capoeira kick after?

  • @maurosulcis1 yes my brother there IS a capoeira cartwheel kick--2 kicks in one cartwheel--directly after the groin punch. It's highly effective and very surprising, lol.

  • Nice vid!!! As always.

  • @1truelegacy Thank you my brother! I'll be posting plenty more.

  • wow...just...wow makes me feel weak not knowing how to fihgt like this hahahahaha

  • @VxOfxBlackXSwansx Capoeira is a fantastic fighting discipline and I'm going to show you guys alot more moves that are very effective and very real world that are taken wholesale from capoeira.I think you'll really like what you see! And every acrobatic tech in capoeira that's executed in self-defense is setup by a combination of movements that the capoeirista and his/her/their opponent(s) did and/or didn't do. If you slow down the video? You'll see the steps to a cartwheel kick.

  • wow....just wow......i wonder what the steps are to do a cartwheelkick?

  • This is TOO cool! :D WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MissKandeeKane Thank you so much,my gorgeous Kandee.Lolol hope to keep "wow"ing you...

  • "It's not just what you know but how you train." There it is! You still move like a cat...amazing.

  • @fletcherkempo Thank you,my highly talented, brilliant, incredibly skilled cousin! You are still the top flight martial artist that I remember and you're definitely on the "short list" of people I'd rather have near me when the proverbial SHTF,as it were.

  • The movements you made on the above video,it dawned on me now...that's why the actor Wesley Shipes' fighting techniques are very unique looking. One sure will need lots of arm strengthening to even start trying the cartwheel like kick. So will be looking for your warmup and strengthening videos first. Also,I learn from your videos for health.

  • @CulturePeaceForever Very sharp eyes! Wesley Snipes holds advanced rank in capoeira AND at least one other African martial art which he demonstrates in THE ART OF WAR 2 during the opening clips when he performs a beautiful form.If you watch any of my sparring clips, you'll see me execute a series of "unique looking" techs that inevitably cleanly catch my opponent. I'll land jump kicks and spinning punches to the body, and I'm quite elusive...all due to capoeira.

  • I can't remember which video it was,but the first time I saw Capoeira, they were in a group, and it showed clearly that in the seemingly"dance-looking form"capoeira could easily mesmerize and off-balance an opponent.Capoeira seems like a martial art meant for younger people(or at least a martial art which should be learned at a young age, older people can't move that quickly. But the way you teach it step by step seems for actual hand to hand and more helpful for beginners.

  • @CulturePeaceForever Thank you so very much! Your insights are keen and appreciated.Capoeira imo is the KING OF MOVEMENT,there is no martial art movement that I know of is wholly alien to capoeira and I've been training in diverse arts for years. As for older people...I know people in their late 30',early 40's and 50's who are picking up capoeira and are doing amazing at it with oftentimes just months of training.

  • You can fight with any system.....CAPOEIRA is valid and is great martial art...anyone who says this art or that art is no good in real life well in most cases their wrong. It comes down to the individual and training. Good vid

  • @232323C Beautfully said man I couldn't agree with you more. But the overwhelming majority of peopl--including quite a few "capoeiristas"--are completely unaware of the devastating weapon that capoeira is.I am so glad that we are on the same page of thought here.Thank you very much!!

  • @ATACXGYM thank you likewise bro! keep on posting these great vids!

  • @232323C I hope to post 4 more next week...please keep your eyes peeled my brother!

  • alot of people sleep on capoeira. it was a very versatile combat method back in it's day. alot of creativity, and a big step in the art of self-defense. good to see it mentioned bro. keep the vids comin. i don't always comment, but i do watch...

  • @1990trip Thank you my brutha your words of encouragement are very much appreciated.I hope that you feel called upon to comment more.I promise you this: alot more or my unique take on capoeira, training drills, taekwondo, exercises, hapkido, aikido,Judo,MT,and many others man.I hope you like the vids.

  • Cool video man! This is awesome!

    -Andrew-

  • @AndreiNastaseMusic Thank you big Andrew!! I really appreciate that.

  • An out-and-out punch to the sweets? That's some serious hurt!

  • @ricks1019 aaaaaaand it's FUNNY too!!

  • THANK YOU ^10 !!!!!!!! I'VE BEEN TRYING TO TELL FOLKS THIS SERIOUSLY FOR YEARS...CAPOEIRA IS A MIRACLE AND IT AND THE N'GOLO/nSANGA FAMILY COMBAT ARTS ARE SERIOUS

  • @Spryt07 You've been trying to tell them about the real combat ability of capoeira too? And yes N'GOLO is cold blooded,I remember them.African martial art that is oftentimes seen as one of the main roots to the combination art of capoeira. The "zebra dance" from the Mucupa in Angola, right? From the Motherland, and specifically know from one of the ports before slavers exported us to Brazil.Benguela, right? I have family from there and other parts of Africa.

  • Hahaha. You punched someone in the groin while sparring? Was that agreed 'an ok target' before you started?

  • @fangjian Yeah it became agreed upon during sparring because he threw two knee strikes at my groin (which I blocked, because we Kenpo guys block groin attacks all the time) after I brought it to his attention that he was using head butts, elbows to the head and knees south of the border.Twice.Sooo...I responded in kind. The groin punch was bad enough to drop him but the cartwheel kick was KAPOW! Lifted him off of his feet and dropped him like dirty laundry.Capoeira is a SERIOUS fighting art.

  • Nice work :D love that kick!!

  • @smilingdaf Thank you! Lolol I love the cartwheel kick too. It's a REAL shocker and packs SERIOUS power.

  • what is the style of the ATACXGYM?

  • @HannibalBarca5 We've taken a plethora of styles and blended them together into a unique highly functional fighting method.Kenpo karate,Judo, wrestling, boxing, bareknuckle Muay Thai, firearms, our brand of kali, wristlocks, bjj, hapkido, taekwondo, tang soo do,Chinese kempo, capoeira and iaido form our base. These systems are very complimentary to one another, and they're especially effective when combined with our brands of yoga and athletic training. Please sub and support us!

  • i have to agree, you made a really great point about fending off attacks when the hands were bound by the capoeraista's (spelling?). I don't know too much about capoeira, I've read books etc, but there isnt too much out there that i've encountered to educate myself further. I try to learn and read about all arts, because I can find something that follows the principles I've been taught and taught in EVERY art, as you and I both understand. Pretty sweet I couldn't pull it off that' for sure:)

  • @houseofthetruewayma You know? Almost every move in tkd, boxing, muay boran, wrestling (where do you think wrestlers got backflipping out of the single leg high lift from?),judo's acrobatic escapes from throws, every greco-roman throw, karate, gungfu (including especially the animal hand gestures like Tiger and Snake) are all parts of capoeira.Bjj is impacted by the flow of capoeira. There is no move wholly alien to capoeira. But there are many capoeira moves that exist nowhere but in capoeira.
