Wow you couldn't be more incorrect on this one. This is a stand alone, in-your-face, balls-to-the-wall, action film for the ages.
The shockingly but more than effective violence perfectly intertwined with a story of moral thinking and actions. Peter Weller brilliantly brings to life a conflicted robot if ever you could even imagine, and Ronny Cox & Kurtwood Smith were just as equally brilliant. I could go on and on...but you're wrong on this masterpiece!!!!
@MrBOPESquad2 - that sounds awful - they made a pg-13 robocop (robocop 3) - and that was shit. You check out most film guides, and robocop always rates 4 or 5 stars. hardly unforgettable - it was for the time a great film and one that i still believes holds sway today. sorry about the delay in replying but i hadnt received notification that you had replied. also - didnt there used to be robo vs terminator game on the megadrive? and why do we need to keep recycling franchises anyway?
Great movie. Well made, violent, smart, witty, and sometimes just hilarious. Aged very well. Great review. Shame Darren Aronofsky dropped doing the remake, but perhaps it wasn't really necessary.
@TheMovieRewind - good thing i think. regardless of how talented Aronofsky may be, they just shouldn't remake films - just re release the originals for the new audiences.
lol! Me and my friends all did the same thing in the playground. Disturbingly enough it always seemed to be the "execution scene". We had that memorized word for word.
honestly... ur review was really good.. straightforward.. although it only works for guys like me who's seen the whole movie already and not just once..
Robocop is the GOAT. I agree with your point that it was a disappointing franchise. So much squandered potential, but the original movie was so great. Awesome review.
Robocop is in my top 10, and my top ten is sacred, don't mess
