Absolutely stunning, I'm getting this lens for my canon 550d, just need to find a dark location on a clear night. Was there a lot of post processing done? And where these shot is RAW?
"A still more glorious dawn awaits, not a sunrise, but a galaxy rise, a morning filled with 400 billion suns- the rising of the Milky Way"- Carl Sagan
Hey there again!Thats much better than the prev video of yours i saw!You still got the flickering issue, and this time your composition was not that good too.You didn't noticed these power cables there?Cheers keep it up!
how come people are so blind on not realizing the beauty of the night sky? i mean sure there's light pollution but c'mon! take a trip out to the wide open desert plain or the highest peak of a mountain! its really worth the trip =D
Cool! What intervalometer did you use? If your camera has infrared, you or someone who want to try time-lapse photography, could use an infrared time-lapse remote like this one: tempus.bymac.org
Light pollution sucks. I always thought it would be cool if a few times a year they would shut off all lights in the city's for a few moments so people can see what's above them. Probably not possible as I'm sure something would blow when they came back on but still...
Absolutely amazing! Great job. It also makes you think how much asteroids fly by earth with ever hitting it. Life is one big "in the right place at the right time"
@sonnetxi Yep. It's also known as "light pollution", whereas light in urban areas actually ends up shining outward, towards the sky, rather than downwards, where it's needed. This obscures almost all the stars visible from Earth. It's actually quite difficult to get shots like this. You need absolute darkness, no moon, and you need to be there when the Milky Way actually "rises" like we see in the video. But it's really worth going the way to witness this.
@Harles99 thanks for taking your time to reply my post. did you ever try to locate the center of milky way? can it be seen from earth or is it too far away?
@MrBlakeLee and...now now the milkyway is visible cause its summer at 11:00pm look south or north depending on your location but its always southeast, and look for a glowing cloud, if weather permits and no moon, and your in a really really dark place, ink black, then youll be able to see the milkyway just fine!! ;) believe me i know from trial and error and i live in a suburb area and went to a somewhat dark place and saw the milkyway just fine ;)
@meowmeowgrl seems like you can't see that nowhere nowadays. I honestly believed up until some years ago that these videos were all fake , i still have trouble comprehending this. i won't believe it till i see it.
I believe they are. Falling Stars, Asteroids and Comets do not appear as red, usually a pale yellow or a bright blue, while the lights on planes are blink red., and because this is a time lapse and the time has been sped up, the blinking is not visible.
@BazzBerry haha, hey buddy whats up ;P i like this video btw, the stars and other space movements are amazingly beautiful :) thanks to @Harles99 for the amazing vid and taking the time to post this and taking the time and effort to put this vid togeather.

beautiful video was that here in the usa? and id be surprised if a ufo was caught flying by in the video i saw some things just go by fast....very well put together.
Harles could u give me advice on doing a timelapse, shooting from around 5pm to 1am in the morning, how do i adjust my settings to shoot the light of day then night time?
I don't understand how you can use a shutter speed of 25 seconds to get such beautiful pictures of the stars without the sun blinding the whole image. Planning to make a similar video next year from sunset to sunrise but I'm not sure if I can do this with the same settings. I'm totally new to this, but I've always been fascinated about the stars and now that one of my relatives bought a D90 I thought I might give it a go :X
I cry when i see this over where i live near the mountains, i see the south part of this, it looks so nice and medium bright and beutifil, man i wish all cities where LED instead of mercury
this is absolutely brilliant.. i'm rather surprised by the quality, given that your using ISO 3200. really impressive work, i ordered my timer remote 2 days ago, i cannot wait until it arrives so i can start shoot videos like this (although it wont be as good, since my cam is 7MP and its not an SLR so yeah :P)
I'm so glad to have a dark sky at home. I've spent many a night laying back staring up at the Milky Way and countless surrounding stars, just thinking 'some day, some how'. I have been inspired from the age of 15 (I'm now 16) to look forward to what the night brings, and being able to watch our 200-million year orbit around the core of our galaxy with the naked eye is so amazing, it has the power to bring tears to my eyes. Astronomy is what I want to dedicate my future to.
truly beautiful work, how did you have the camera record for such a long duration when the max is like 5min per clip??? also what program do you recommend using to achieve this kinda work? its simply awesome
@hijacker54 thanks... the camera is sec to take 30 sec exposures, not video. Then i take all the photos and string them together using Quicktime Pro and Final Cut Pro 7.
