@TheJascal This camera is designed to accurately bring out the color. In some cases when the light flows from the object it acts sort of like if you took a picture in the glare of the sun - offset color. But the color is real and I believe that this camera is bringing out the true color on the moon. Thanks for the thoughts and thanks for watching my video...
@poprocz Thanks for the comments! This camera is awesome and it really brings out the detail. The camera was designed to bring out color from the ground up and you can really tell on the moon that it does a super duper job! Thanks for watching my video...
Excellent work. I've been searching for any NASA footage that is better than this. You would think that with their tax budget this wouldn't be difficult. Your footage is clearly winning at the moment.
@Wibble99O Thanks for the nice comment! There are not many individuals doing video of the moon. I am hoping my videos will inspire more astronomers to try video as I believe it is so much better than static pictures and looking through an eyepiece. With video you can share your experience with many people!!! Thanks for watching my video...
@nibirux2012 Nibirux you may well be correct. I have seen many tube shaped objects with glowing light out of one end. They go across the surface then go below the surface. Sometimes they stick up in the air and curve like a umbrella with a curved hook. Because they always seem to glow at the end I thought them to be made out of some kind of crystal or glass. Thanks for the comment and thanks a lot for watching my video!!!
@woodysgirlebony78 Thanks for the comment. I have done two videos on what I call Crystal Lake - "022 Moon Musings - I find what appears to be a Crystal Lake on the Moon with a submerged crater" and "023 Moon Musings - Sliver of moon - Crystal Lake Moon Structures with unusual formations". I believe that there is a base with structures in the Crystal Lake area. I want to revisit Crystal Lake with my new 1080p camera and do so soon. Thanks for watching my video. I have 52 moon videos so far...
Bill. This footage is just amazing. You ruin the NASA's monopoly on video footage of the Moon. They really should start panicking about what you and us can see on the surface of the Moon. Btw. What about all this coloration of the Moon?
@alexkrugvideo Ha ha... I am getting quite a bit of footage of the moon (I try to get out most nights and video the moon). But NASA has the goldmine! Too bad they seem to hide it from us wee folk!!! Thanks for the nice comments! I think the moon is full of color and I am just revealing it in my videos! That is a nasty little secret that has been kept from us! Thanks for watching!!!
@MindOfDreams Thanks for the questions. I did make a initial attempt at Orion (see "044 Moon Musings - First look at Orion Nebula with experimental camera") but it was a very poor viewing night and not dark. Also I did not use 1080p. So I will definitely be looking at Orion and the plaides soon. This camera works well at low light and with 1080p I feel I should be able to do live video of the deep space stuff. Stay tuned... Thanks for watching my video...
fthose colours look a bit like the colours of a hologram to me... anyone else think so? i've studied lots of holograms... the main two colours are pink and green.
@holdmyhand2009 Thanks for the thoughts! Well there a lot of people who believe that NASA has the capability to cloak the moon in a hologram! I personally think this is the real deal and there is a lot of color on the moon. The halo around the moon when I videoed it did help bring it out in this video! I also think that that blue and colored tinge around the edge of the moon is a definite sign of atmosphere. For some reason we have been shielded from this. Thanks for watching my video!
@robertmunson Thanks for the question. I am using a Logitech C910 web cam. This is a top of the line camera with a lens designed by Carl Zeiss. It retails for $99 but Amazon sells it for $68. It is probably currently the best web cam sold in the world. It is really hard to believe how well it does work as a telescope camera. I have made a video where I show the camera mounted in the especially designed aluminum carrier. Thanks for watching!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this. NASA should have been doing this for years. What's up with that. Leave it to us to bring the best to each other. Looking forward to more:)
@47sadair Thanks for the comment! NASA has been doing this for years and also says that the moon is a dead gray hunk of rock! Well the colors may be enhanced in my video but for sure you can see a TON of colors on the moon!!! Thanks for watching my videos! I try to get out each evening a video the moon (weather permitting). And tonight where I live in Texas it is heavy clouds so no moon! Last month was great and I got out most nights!!!
I looked up the cam you said you used right in the beginning...............you mean to tell me you captured the moon that beautlifully with the Logitech C910 HD webcam?
@kristinkbmurphy Thanks for the question! Yes that is exactly what I mean. This video was made with a Logitech C910 HD webcam connected to my desktop PC running a program called Debut Screen Capture. I captured the video direct to Debut via the Logitech driver from the web cam that was on my telescope on my porch. I was in the house 25 feet away working the telescope and web cam from my desk. This web cam is the top of the line compared with of all of them sold today. Thanks for watching!
@w3bst3r123 Thanks for the comment! Yes the color is real. The camera enhances them but the color I believe is brought out to enunciate them with the contrast and brightness controls. Thanks for watching my video!!!
@rusmokin Thanks for the question. This is the 11th video I have done on the camera (see Moon Musings 042-052). For pictures of the camera and mount and lenses I use see - "047 Moon Musings - Experimental Camera using a 10 mega pixel web cam" for information on the drivers I use see - "049 Moon Musings - I show how web cam drivers work with the Experimental Camera". I hope that helps. It is a super great camera and works well with low cost 60 degree lenses. Thanks for watching!!!
@rkmat2784 Thanks for the nice comments!!! This new camera is really working out well and does really bring out the color on the moon! Thanks for watching my video!!!

Is the color real, or an artifact from the camera? What I do see is the redish color seems to be centered where ever it is present.

On the moon where there is no air, glass can be made stronger than steel. Maybe that is what those bright things are, glass structures.
