This makes me laugh! You Gojoe or coppertox , kerosine on a horse and think your gonna get through inspection your a idiot! It will cause the skin to blister, scab, scarf, split, hair slippage Im sorry ppl this may have been used in the past but there is NO WAY a horse done like this will make it through DQP! My horse gets a friken tick or fly bite on its pasterns and I CANT GET THROUGH! Cure em or Kill em you say? Riiiiiiiiiiight I spend this kinda money and oil it within a inch of life O_o
@hillbillyhoodoo I do not think all padded horse owners are abusive :-) But there have been cases where horses have gotten far by using different techniques to disguise the effects of irritants. Now it is true that these substances can leave marks, but once removed a horse can actually learn to do the exaggerated gait after the original irritant is gone. It is classical conditioning. Also there may not be consistency of testing. Too difficult in some areas (like yours) and not enough in others
I will agree with Kayse. You dont have to sore to compete. My friend has a natural walking horse. Of course he doesnt look stupid like these horses, but she blows out all the smaller horse shows.
This video blows things WAY out of porportion! Yes i agree soring does go on ( just like SOME pleasure horses are tranqulized to perform better & SOME running horses are shot up) I have shown for several years and NEVER had my horses sore and have won many shows...My horses love there jobs, They get turned out in a round pen daily to eat grass & hay, there playful & loving horses! In the winter the pads come off nad there turned out to pasture from Oct. to April 1st! Dont judge us all~
@Kayse38134 The fact is that it does happen. And by showing these horses with anything but regular shoes is perpetuating the abuse. Those stacks are huge and cause severe tendon damage. you shorten their life so that you can win a few championships....Don't be so quick to let yourself of the hook.
@tinacrook well i own 22 walking horses and i can tell u none of them in my barn has had a chem on them and will clear any dqp u can find and it crazy how ppl will talk about something they dont own one and the qov is so strick u can sore ur self so u need to search ur facts and if u wear high heels what the damn diff
This is revolting. If I was filthy rich I'd buy all the filly and colts from these places just to rescue them from this happening to them. This is revolting and anyone who thinks this is okay should be castrated or worse. It's disgusting!

i swear yall abunch of stupid bastard thats bull shit u cant founder a horse and two days and expect them to heal wtf and then the pads arent that heavy it breaks up a pace stupid ppl im tired of yalls shit the chain on the horses leg is no worse than a watch on a mans arm so fuck yall
@JW4REAL you are obviously an ignorant redneck who doesnt have a clue....pads beyond an inch thick are not healthy, and the chains themselves arent whats so bad, its the fact that chemicals are placed on the horses skin and THEN the heavy weight chains are put on and the rubbing of the chain on skin that is already irritated by chemicals just makes it more sore thus making the horses more animated.
@tinacrook I use chains on my horses but there NEVER sore, Its as harmless as me wearing a braclet! Dont judge every padded horse just b/c some trainers are cruel! My horses are happy, full of life horses who love there job
@JW4REAL@JW4REAL I agree with you concerning the foundering part and even the chains are not really a problem but, YOU know that there is way more to it than that. The care of the feel under the pads is always a concern as well as the way padded horses are started is pretty rough stuff. The problem comes from the soring and more so the pressure shoeing. that stuff is midevil. These days are over and its time to stop defending it. People will always do what they feel is needed to win but enough
who ever you are doing the talking i would like to know how long you showed horses because you sound like you are rollin over on someone to cover yourself
It's sick to me that they call the things "pads". They are heavy, thick blocks of wood. Why do these losers want anything to do with horses if they just want to hurt them for a worthless ribbon or trophy? I mean why? Whey not show something inanimate, like cars? I hope God punishes them badly one day.
@imgoodatwhatido69 there are more than one kind of pad. Some are soft and not very thick, but walking horse pads, which are actually called "stacks" are made of very hard plastic and some are made of wood. Thats a fact, Ive seen and held them and know what imt alking about.
Tina I live in shelbyville tennessee. My father is the most renowned farrier to ever put a shoe on a walking or spotted saddle horse. I grew up in the biggest and most prominent horse farms in this country since i was old enough to walk. In all my life i have never heard a "package" the correct term, called a stack. I have never in all my life seen a horse with a wooden pad on. Nor have i ever seen a wooden pad. THATS a fact. You can take that to the bank. You're wrong.
@imgoodatwhatido69 just because you havent seen them doesnt mean they dont exist. Rednecks are very good at making this shit trust me IVE SEEN IT...why would i make it up? And around here they are called stacks...wether its the proper term or not, thats what they call them.
@tinacrook I love how you assume all people in the south are rednecks. I looked at your video of whoever that is on that trottin ass horse bouncin up an down in the saddle like they're on a pogo stick lol. That alone tells me you DONT HAVE A CLUE what your talking about. I don't know what you've seen, or who lied to you, but if it wasn't made out of plastic or rubber, it wasn't a pad for a walkin horse. Wood pads LOL, and your callin me a redneck. Was it held on by duck tape too?
@imgoodatwhatido69 I love how YOU resort to making fun of a SEVEN YR OLD LITTLE GIRL JUST LEARNING TO RIDE! And for a beginner shes DAMN GOOD and that "trottin ass" horse is a registered former Thoroughbred race horse whos made more in her lifetime racing than you will EVER make in your life. No not all souther people are rednecks...I happen to be in TENNESSEE...you're an idiot who wants everyone to think there is nothing wrong in the TWH industry ...

@tinacrook She should be taught the correct way to ride. Regardless if that horse has made 10 million dollars its still a "trottin ass" horse (see video...its trottin). You dont know what I do for a living, and i know theres a slight problem in the TWH industry. Its just not as bad as you and the media is making it out to be. Like i said, Propaganda.......and your falling for it.
Soring does happen in the walking horse industry. It is NOWHERE as bad as the media portrays it to be. Most of it is nothing but Propaganda created by the HSUS and PETA. Dont you love how ARA groups come to your state to bring laws upon a state in which they dont live? They line the pockets of broke and crooked politicians to get their ways, and laugh allllll the way to the bank while all these little old ladies send them $20 a month of their social security to "save the puppies and kitties."
Steppinon your right if it was that bad why didnt she contact someone before talking to this idiot on this talk show now.Horses showing today are clean or they couldnt pass inspection by the USDA to get in the ring. Katphoti you are seeing what you want to see there is worse going on in the racing industry and the rodeo and the jumpers and five gaited horses as well how do you think they get there horse to break up so high and gait the way they do?
Isn't it sad how those who are in the thick of it will hear first-hand evidence and STILL won't admit there's a problem? I truly believe that until we remove pads, bands, chains, and the like from the show ring, then these horses will continue to be abused due to ignorance and self-righteousness. We are dealing with a society that is ingrained and immune to abuse. It's high time their access to abuse is shut down.
lding the head fixed in position for hours at a time. The chains on front and back feet were always there until they came off in the ring. W kept the horses in blinders, many in full blinds with just a tiny hole for light. Ginger up their butts, razor cuts in the fetlocks and more. I remember saran wrap and heavy padded shoes plus leg bandages in the stalls. It's not just gaited horses. Most of our ASB's were 3 gaited and we also did this to morgans! you're all nuts!!! it's abuse!!!! anything that alters the natural way a horse moves is abuse! you people are crazy trying to justify it.
