I thing they are both great. With Kotipelto i began to listen to Metal. All Stratovarius Albums till Intermission were great (all albums after that are trash). I know Kiske only from Revolution Renaissance and i liked him from the moment i heard his first song on this Album. I think you can´t compare them. Both are great but with a different style... stop arguing, the main thing here is that Timo's album, was never mixed properly, so its in poor quality, so it can't really be compared to the Michael Kiske version. I'm sure you all know the story about Timo Tolkki ripping off Stratovarius so all i will say is, search for Stratovarius "darkest hours" listen to the demo and then the finished product, if thats anything to go by then the Stratovarius version could have possibly been even better. revolution renaissance had a better intro for Timo

Kiske has always had vocals that should make most other vocalists bow their heads in shame.... However, his statements about not being "metal" have seriously damaged his creds!! Timo has a wonderful voice and cannot really be faulted for his accent when we know he's from FINLAND!! If you do not speak Finnish you couldn't possibly understand how difficult the English language IS. Why do you think most Finnish bands GROWL/SHREIK instead of actually "singing"? Both Kiske and Timo are AWESOME vocal
Kotipelto has a great and unique voice and he can hit those high chestnotes like nobody's business, but Kiske got wider range, his technique is way better and his storytelling just sucks you into the song. I just really hope his new band will work out fine so we can hear more of him.

One thing i would like to mention is Timo's accent hurts my ears in most songs hahaha. And to that guy that said Kiske is overrated you must be deaf. True its opinion who is "better" or you like more but if you look at from a musical stand point Kiske is superior not only a power metal pioneer, but he has: 1 stronger vibrato. 2 a better range. 3 better/ much better high pitch voice (without falsetto). Kiske is better in virtually every musical way. but then again its opinion who to like more.
1st of all great video,I'm sure no one can complain about one have a easier piece of the song then the other...same cuts Ect. Now on my opinion KisKe voice fits better to this songs but overall I'm Kotipelto died hard fan an there no shame on admitting Kiske had the better voice... Sorry, but on the title track Kotipelto really owns Kiske. I love Kiske but I think he is using vibrato way too much. On the other hand Kotipelto does pre-choruses and choruses in a way no other power metal vocalist can and his vocal clarity is umatched. I can only wonder how this album would sound with Kotipelto if it was properly produced and not just a demo.
My vote is for Kotipelto. They're both amazing, but from an objective perspective, Kotipelto has the more educated and properly trained vocal range. That and the fact that Kiske shunned Metal

I prefer Kiske... so great expression... has a beautiful voice... maybe he lacks only modulations beyond rhytmics change inside a song, to pass from a slow to a faster beat and viceversa (something where Bruce is a great one), but he has the best voice on classic/power... Timo sometimes seems to "force" too much his "high" parts
I really look up to both of these vocalist. Both rock so hard, that there's really no need for comparison. But If I had to say which one nailed the songs better, I'd say Kiske.

Timo is good but he doesn't have the epic voice/range power Kiske has. Plus lol Kiske is way older and still beast. Timo is amazing in his own respect but Kiske's voice sounds better on these songs. I'm sure there a lot of songs one could do better the other couldn't but on these Kiske is better for sure undeniably...

Not even close Kiske Wins Hands Down. Kotipelto's Voice has always bugged me even being a Part of Stratovarius didn't change my Mind. Michael is able to Hit The High Notes which Timo Can't. His Voice Much to Ear Piercing for Me.

I def stay with Timo cuz at least he's true to power metal unlike Kiske who quit after Helloween, TImo has more emotion in his voice anyway, kiske sounds like a rip off of Dickinson and Tobias Sammet, even Adrian Barilari is a way better singer than Kiske, being able to hit high notes isnt what makes you a good power metal singer

Tobias has admitted that he was heavily influenced by Kiske and Edguy was formed in 1992 (Kiske's first album with Helloween was in 1987)! Kotipelto on the other hand is hugely influenced by Kiske, but is less expressive & has a smaller vocal range.

What if he has stopped playing metal ? That doesn't changes any of the above...Unfortunately Timo's voice has changed a lot since his EPIC records like Episode-Visions etc...I've seen him 4 times live from 1997 'till 2005....

Keep in mind that the versions of these songs with Timo K are rehersal demos and they are not the finshed product which is why there are no vocal harmonies. I am sure that if Stratovarius would have remained together with Timo T we would hear a much bigger version of the album. Michael Kiske is a great singer as well and I feel that he was a great addition to the final outcome of the songs for RR.

Kiske al saltar a otros escenarios musicales como el AOR le dio un impulso a su carrera. Compara los discos de Helloween con los de Place Vendome, sin duda los primeros son espectaculares, pero en la mayoría de las canciones las notas siempre eran muy agudas, ahora en cambio matiza más, realiza diferentes tipos de melodías, juega en diferentes tonalidades para demostrarnos que ese vozarrón no es solamente gritos, sino que verdadera música. ARRIBA KISKE!

Both are great singers, but frankly speaking, Timo's accent abit thick. I can' t understand the words he is singing, and that can get annoying. As for kiske, his dictation is clear, and that makes it more appealing to the general public, not only to powermetal fans. Anyway Hail Kiske and Timo!!

There are slow songs,I think the best singer is that who can change the volume,tone and sing speed songs and can walk while he or her is singing,as TOBIAS SAMMET from Edguy/Avantasia he can run and jump while he's singing and for me he's the best singer
Anyway,if I must choose between one of these guys I preffer Kotipelto,he's amazing singing with stratovarius

Really i think Kiske it's a little bit overpounded.... I mean he is a REALLY great singer and I like and admire him.. but, singing clean and high it's not everything in life...
To me (and many people who fills shows) also it's important the force, the low tones, and a little of dark/dirty voice sometimes.. because that I like also Kotipelto, Andi Deris and Matt Levens (Therion and Malmsteem singer)...
PS: Kiske always for me sounds "Helloween" hehehe in any band!! XD

STRYPER27: podés escuchar el disco de ANIA "Days OF Rising Doom" o el de Place Vendome "Place Vendome" para escuchar a la voz CREADORA del Power Metal (KISKE, 1987) cantando melódico.
Tercero: Donde están los "bajos" de Kotipelto?, se los olvidó en algún lado?, la vos del pibe no tiene mucho rango que digamos... anda en los 2.5 KHz y de ahí no se mueve me perfora el tímpano...
kotipelto con KISKE NO TIENE CHANCE... catará bien, quizás sea muy bueno... pero KISKE extremadamente mejor. La voz de Kotipelto esta en un rango de frecuencias que es solo una parte del rango de KISKE. Al lado de KISKE NO EXISTE!

My vote is for Kotipelto. They're both amazing, but from an objective perspective, Kotipelto has the more educated and properly trained vocal range. That and the fact that Kiske shunned Metal

Kiske is by far the greater. his voice fits more of the songs way better than Kotipelto. timo is good dont make no mistake, but Kiske is better.

I prefer Kiske... so great expression... has a beautiful voice... maybe he lacks only modulations beyond rhytmics change inside a song, to pass from a slow to a faster beat and viceversa (something where Bruce is a great one), but he has the best voice on classic/power... Timo sometimes seems to "force" too much his "high" parts

I really look up to both of these vocalist. Both rock so hard, that there's really no need for comparison. But If I had to say which one nailed the songs better, I'd say Kiske.

So,Kiske isn´t just one of the best singers in metal,he is one of the best singers on the world,his voice and technique is one of the best.Kiskeis the best,the beast,but he lost my respect at leaving metal and sayin´,that metal is bad,but now hes back with unisonic and doing great job with them

Timo is good but he doesn't have the epic voice/range power Kiske has. Plus lol Kiske is way older and still beast. Timo is amazing in his own respect but Kiske's voice sounds better on these songs. I'm sure there a lot of songs one could do better the other couldn't but on these Kiske is better for sure undeniably...

Not even close Kiske Wins Hands Down. Kotipelto's Voice has always bugged me even being a Part of Stratovarius didn't change my Mind. Michael is able to Hit The High Notes which Timo Can't. His Voice Much to Ear Piercing for Me.

I def stay with Timo cuz at least he's true to power metal unlike Kiske who quit after Helloween, TImo has more emotion in his voice anyway, kiske sounds like a rip off of Dickinson and Tobias Sammet, even Adrian Barilari is a way better singer than Kiske, being able to hit high notes isnt what makes you a good power metal singer

@kazutite You can prefer either of the two, but please get your facts straight. Saying that Kiske sounds like a rip off of Bruce and Tobias is too much.
Tobias has admitted that he was heavily influenced by Kiske and Edguy was formed in 1992 (Kiske's first album with Helloween was in 1987)! Kotipelto on the other hand is hugely influenced by Kiske, but is less expressive & has a smaller vocal range.

@trelos80 I'm a huge maiden fan and Dickinson is my favorite singer, but come'on, Kiske is no rip-off, sure, he's probably a bit influenced by Dickinson as so many other artists but still. Kiske was out there long before Tobias. Anyways, they're all gods in my ears. :)

Kiske is the major influence for all power metal singers from 92' and later...
What if he has stopped playing metal ? That doesn't changes any of the above...Unfortunately Timo's voice has changed a lot since his EPIC records like Episode-Visions etc...I've seen him 4 times live from 1997 'till 2005....

Pues me fascina el metal y soy fanatica denstratovarius, es mi banda favorita desde que tenia a Timo Tolkki, asi que obviamente prefiero mil veces a Kotipelto, a pesar de que Kiske es bueno.
Amo a stratovarius, solo quien sabe de música los conoce.

Keep in mind that the versions of these songs with Timo K are rehersal demos and they are not the finshed product which is why there are no vocal harmonies. I am sure that if Stratovarius would have remained together with Timo T we would hear a much bigger version of the album. Michael Kiske is a great singer as well and I feel that he was a great addition to the final outcome of the songs for RR.

Kiske al saltar a otros escenarios musicales como el AOR le dio un impulso a su carrera. Compara los discos de Helloween con los de Place Vendome, sin duda los primeros son espectaculares, pero en la mayoría de las canciones las notas siempre eran muy agudas, ahora en cambio matiza más, realiza diferentes tipos de melodías, juega en diferentes tonalidades para demostrarnos que ese vozarrón no es solamente gritos, sino que verdadera música. Both are great singers, but frankly speaking, Timo's accent abit thick. I can' t understand the words he is singing, and that can get annoying. As for kiske, his dictation is clear, and that makes it more appealing to the general public, not only to powermetal fans. Anyway Hail Kiske and Timo!!

I think you must put best songs,you put only ballads,and that songs do not show the potential of no one of them.
There are slow songs,I think the best singer is that who can change the volume,tone and sing speed songs and can walk while he or her is singing,as TOBIAS SAMMET from Edguy/Avantasia he can run and jump while he's singing and for me he's the best singer
Anyway,if I must choose between one of these guys I preffer Kotipelto,he's amazing singing with stratovarius

Really i think Kiske it's a little bit overpounded.... I mean he is a REALLY great singer and I like and admire him.. but, singing clean and high it's not everything in life...
To me (and many people who fills shows) also it's important the force, the low tones, and a little of dark/dirty voice sometimes.. because that I like also Kotipelto, Andi Deris and Matt Levens (Therion and Malmsteem singer)...
PS: Kiske always for me sounds "Helloween" hehehe in any band!! XD

Pues depende de Mucho en que sentido digamos, quien es mejor? porque Ambos son vocalistas muy buenos y tendran mucho que verpero siguen siendo muy diferentes por parte de M.Kiske tenemos una voz muy estilo Power y muy clara y por parte de T.Kotipelto una voz estilo classica, aguda y melodica,,, M.Kiske puede tener mas trayectoria que T.Kotipelto por ese motivo es mejor,,, pero en esta comparacion para Mi es mejor TIMO KOTIPELTO :D

una es la versión de un demo que grabó tolkki con kotipelto aun como stratovarius... la segunda es la versión grabada con la nueva banda de tolkki donde canta kiske...

STRYPER27: podés escuchar el disco de ANIA "Days OF Rising Doom" o el de Place Vendome "Place Vendome" para escuchar a la voz CREADORA del Power Metal (KISKE, 1987) cantando melódico.
Tercero: Donde están los "bajos" de Kotipelto?, se los olvidó en algún lado?, la vos del pibe no tiene mucho rango que digamos... anda en los 2.5 KHz y de ahí no se mueve me perfora el tímpano...

kotipelto con KISKE NO TIENE CHANCE... catará bien, quizás sea muy bueno... pero KISKE extremadamente mejor. La voz de Kotipelto esta en un rango de frecuencias que es solo una parte del rango de KISKE. Al lado de KISKE NO EXISTE!

Segundo: la voz de Kotipelto mas melodica que la de Kiske???... me parece que el que tiene que aprender sos vos STRYPER27... escuchemos la comparacion en el tema "Keep the flame alive" y pensemos cual es mas melódico...
