MJs hands and first step allowed him to score around the basket at will, and so a major majority of his pts came from in the paint and free throws. Kobe first step was not as quick and he didnt have MJs hand so yea he could still attack the basket effectively, he could do as well.

Kobe may "make" more tough (dumb) shots ever, but he also take more "dumb" shots than anyone else. The name of the game is not to take the most "tough" shots, but to get the best shot possible. That is Basketball 101. Educate yourself.

You are correct it is designed to create spacing for mismatches but it's primary design was to create scoring options in the low post. MJ's average if 48.2% in the finals. Kobe's worst is 36.7%. Every player has bad shooting nights, Kobe had FAR more than Jordan though. Kobe has shot 35% or less in 14 of 37 finals games, while MJ shot 35% or less in only 3 of 34 career finals games. Not close.

@thug8200 Yeah, Oscar had the stats, like LBJ today, but not much else. The object of the game is to win, not just get stats. Plus, the pace of play was a lot faster in his day man. Kobe is NOT just as good as MJ, that's for sure. I watch basketball all the time, I can't find a single expert who has Kobe top 3.

Obviously Jordan deserved finals mvp in 96. Both Scottie and Jordan guarded Magic the entire 91 series. Quite making a fool out of yourself man.

@utfanatic2000 shooting percentages dont really mean shit son. Ive watch both players in their respective eras and even you should know overall kobe has taken MUCH more difficult shots than MJ has. MJs hands and first step allowed him to score around the basket at will, and so a major majority of his pts came from in the paint and free throws. Kobe first step was not as quick and he didnt have MJs hand so yea he could still attack the basket effectively, he could do as well.

Hitting the side of the backboard in the finals while doubled instead of passing? lol, Yep, you won't see MJ pull something idiotic like that. Kobe needs to learn how to pass at the right time. Amazing, 14 years into his career, he still hasn't learned that.

MJ did not deal with todays double and triple teams along with the now frequently used zone defenses. put that together and you can easily see why kobe takes more jumpshots than mj did in games. @extremedrew2 Yep, Jordan's era WAS different defensively. Perimeter handchecking was legal, and tougher defensive was played. Doubles and triples have always been legal. They are nothing new. Kobe may "make" more tough (dumb) shots ever, but he also take more "dumb" shots than anyone else. The name of the game is not to take the most "tough" shots, but to get the best shot possible. That is Basketball 101. Educate yourself.
