  • her version is cool but elvis' version is better (in my opinion).

  • I was a 16 year old jitterbug and could not get enough of ella mae, sing it again ella ,sing it again!

  • This is a close 2nd to the original Drifters version. She's got a great voice and at times sounds like Clyde

  • Thought she was a black performer all those years in high school and beyond when we had no access to hear her live on tv.

She captured the sound of soul before there was rock 'n roll!

  • I love the sax in the beginning :)

  • Does anyone know who's playing tenor on this?

  • umm the drifters original is the best

  • Jump Blues at it`s Finest. Go Ella !

  • Again WOW

    Thank you!!

  • What a lovely lady she was!

  • Not a patch on Elvis. This is a more poppy version.

  • This is one great version of this classic. Sooooo great...i almost faint! lol

  • I would not call her style rock'n'roll as such. I would call it jazz'n'roll.

She's a for runner to for example Wanda Jackson.

  • What a talent...and what a hot babe in her day! Man alive, Ella Mae had it all! THANK YOU over & over for sharing her timeless music with us! :)

  • Quite a dish too!

  • Ella Mae Morse was the fist white performer to capture the R&B feel - going all the way back to 1942 when she was 17 years old. She should have been as big as Elvis.

  • this could be the first female to sing rock and roll....

  • @lyon406

Better than that she was the first rock & roller period end of discussion.

  • @lyon406

While it's nice, it's just an ordinary pop blues. There isn't a hint of rock 'n' roll in it.

Though you could see it as an antecedent.

  • this sound is real cool !!!

    rock on

  • Wanda Jackson also did this in 1958! Both versions are great. This version IS MY FAV!!

  • You can dress her up, but you can t cool her off.

  • man, jailhouse rock, all shook up, it's all here if you listen close.

    BIG ELLA'S FAN NOW!

  • E.M.M. rocks! Where's she been hiding all these years? This is a great track.

  • @pantherpawed Miss Morse passed away in 1999 at age 75

  • Hot Dog fraid i gotta agree with whispperson,Elvis's good but this version blows your socks off.

  • @JohnCritchley

I second that emotion! Ella Mae could easily have become the Queen of Rockabilly! I think she deserves to be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame for being such a strong early influence in the field. This song is a PRIME example of that! Thanks for your insightful comment! :)

  • @JohnCritchley

cmon on dude the drifters ORIGINAL version id the best

  • What a Crackin Version this is.

This is Far Better than Elvis Presley's Version.

    Thanks for this.

  • an original Drifters song!!

  • CLASSIC ROCKNROLL
