In the quartet, I believe it's the guy on the right, does an early entrance right at the beginning of the first "No ones gonna take me alive" line. If you listen closely, you hear "No-No ones gonna take me alive" and you see his face drop.

That was not a key change, it was lowering of an octave. Even though it wasn't a change of the key, changing keys aren't always bad, and can sound great when done properly and to the correct interval above/below.
