I LOVE CATALONIA

  • Since then and forever,

let us try the same ecstasis!

  • explendido majestoso como o queen

  • this just shows that freddie wway byond a showman this is incredible

  • absoluly classic the man himself

  • 33 people have no heart

Bravo!!!!!!

  • Wait a second.. this is lip syncing?? HOW? Why??? I'm confused..

  • @deadstar21 because freddie lost his voice at this day

  • @deadstar21 The chorus is multi-tracked. Pay special attention to moments like 0:40. The chorus has a harmonized F6 in full voice at the top of the chord. The F6 is generally considered to be at or pretty near to the top of Freddie's full voice range. Very few people can perform such a feat live.

  • @DarkAeonSlayer99999 This is identical to the album. They don't even use microphones. This is so strange to me. Every version of this out there is lip synced.

  • @deadstar21 Even though you can't tell but Freddie was already ill. He had to conserve & protect his voice because he was on borrowed time and wanted to record more songs with Queen before his death.

  • guys, I'm crazy about opera & classical and I'm telling you - this is one of the finest compositions. Great respect to that great man!

  • This has to be my No.1 of all time.

Who would put the wonderfull pair together, and expect it to work.

But BOY it really does. What a special sound......

  • he is a hero

  • Straordinario! E che fiati la Caballe...

  • Goosebumps

  • after Mercury came out as gay, the ABC planned to pull Barcelona as the theme song from the olympics.

but the broadcastings stations said f**k that shit and played it anyway.

it's not about his sexual orientation AT ALL. it NEVER WAS. it was the fact that what he did in duetting this song, was selfless and inspiring. and that's something every day i'm glad to have seen as a child.

the world may be big, but people in it who can show compassion and dignity towards others are rare.

    Australia!

  • Uvek sa odusevljenjem....

  • ignor the last comment NOT 1992, LOL

  • this was 1992

  • Beautiful! Mercury and Caballé are wonderful.

    From Portugal.

  • this performance was truly epic i mean a goddess of opera and freddied whata combo

  • this goes tos how this man ws way beyond gifted...what an entertainer he was up there with elvis

  • pure magic Freddie!

  • this man is a big legend like Elvis and Michael Jackson,Freddie is rock but he sings what he want, fuck bieber,Jonas Brothers and other shits the nice music is immortal ever

  • The guy was truly epic. I bet bands/Singers used to dread going on stage after him.

  • How do you meld rock to opera? Invite the divine Caballe with the phenomenal Freddie. They are so lovely together.

  • I was there on wednesday :o ^^

  • Freddie is the best tenor ever. Pavarotti makes a good run at it, too, but he didn't sing rock... :P

  • Beautiful, thank you!

  • Only the sick vote down such talent! Freddie and Monserrate rule the best song ever! Sorry US! But Europe can and does produce excellent music!

  • Kosmiczni Wykonawcy, Kosmiczne brzmienie... Mega Hit!!!

  • I swear they're miming here

  • @tbailey94 well, of course they are... its too official an event to leave it to the chance of singing in person. but still.... a great song

  • I can't believe the description does not mention that this was Freddie Mercury's last live performance ever...

  • WOW!!!!!

  • Freddie you was the man who mademe discover the beauty of music, you were the only one for me, my love for you will never end!

  • Yo reluba, you might want to check your own grammar before calling people out.....First of all, 'one of the best singers in the world' would be more appropriate and I think that 'correctly' is the word you were looking for. All respect. Keep practicing that English. Peace xx

  • Please don't forget about Montserrat Caballé.

    Amazing voice.

  • @znas1001 Totally agree! This was a duet! Freddie and Montserrat... what a combination! I saw the video! She is quite a lady! RIP Freddie!

  • The first time I heard this, my jaw dropped - it still does - fantastic

  • Great song, great setting, great emotion.

  • Damn...this is music. PERIOD. WOW!

  • I can't avoid being touched by this.

  • undoubtely the best song ever made (and performed) for any sports competition. Great talents. Great voices.

  • Happy Birthday, Freddie.

  • I wish I was born on that time so I could of seened it. D:<

  • 2:23 dave mustaine on the piano

  • I always cry when I hear and see these two remarkable singers together. What a huge loss it was when Freddy Mercury passed...so much talent and I am sure there would have been more to comce.

  • Freddie Mercury & Caballe; what a treat...!as a catalonian I am forever thankful for the duet that brought two great and different musical personilaties together in a magic night..!

  • MAMMAMIA!!

  • Queen and Freddy and Monserat - My God Barcelona... sing..sing. RIP my Freddy and don't forgett us. Neva

  • my heart can broke after this song. He was so ill in this moment, but two proffies made the best. RIP Freddy

  • Holy shit Freddy was hot, i was just a little kid when this was made but as a grown woman, he was delicious, too bad he was gay what a waste! No offense gay guys but HOLY SHIT!

  • playback...

  • Hehehe. Monserrat Caballe said, and I qoute:

"Well, I know Nadal wouldn't be happy, but I like Roger Federer very much."

  • epic.

  • As a Madridista - I like it :)

  • I was part of this audience.. I remember crying nonstop after this song... Such a powerful performance and amazing song.. RIP Freddie we miss you so much!

  • How can anyone dislike this?

  • Lip Syncing but he was one of the best regardless!

  • This video made me feel proud of my city...sooo goose-bumping!!

  • love it!

  • Cabaelle's dress is pretty. Mercury looks dashing in a suit

  • Mercury with his voice forever xxx

  • I want to die when I hear this. Freddy

my love was on the ed of his life.

    Let the music play..........

  • Seriously, who the fuck hit the dislike button?.... dumbasses.

  • @samurajxXx I feel sorry for you mate for thinking you can only get aids if your gay or take it up the bum - i think you need some sex education my good sir :)

  • @SamurajxXx Freddie Mercury is one of the best male singer in the world and the fact he was gay does not change this. By the way you made at least 3 grammatical errors in your comment so at least have the respect to write correct on freddie's videos.

  • @reluba actually freddie mercury was bi-sexual, he left all his belongings with the love of his life, who was female

  • how can you disslike this masterpiece?

  • lip singing... because the chorus is freddy´s voice and still hes not singing the chorus... what?

  • absolutelly incredible

  • wonder if this song would be played at wembley on 28th may...

  • Sry but i know it is true. If he would't been gay he maybe will be alive. If u doesn't like this comment sry, but true always hurts.

  • When stars are about die, they shine more than ever.

  • This is 1992, not '88

  • @MrMAHBOI1 This was filmed in October, 1988 for the 1992 Olympics. Freddie Mercury died in 1991.

This event was in celebration of receiving the Olympic flag to start the preparation for the 1992 Olympics.

  • Is this mimed, because it sounds identical to the studio version.

  • After so many years I feel the same. Fredy and Monserat and Barcelona. And her C and Fredy was so ill...my God ..unforgetable..I just cry

  • @mojdragiluka I am crying now...oh to have been there.

  • fantastico!!

  • fantastici....................................

  • Sad it ends at 5:47 :(

  • Impareggiabile Freddie , un Mito

    by sergiu H

  • I've been in that exact street last week, its in Montjuic, barcelona, i didn't knew that freddie had been there singing O.O

Freddie Mercury will allways be the best singer ever!

  • this made me cry, i NEVER cry

  • grande duo :)

  • Those games were stunning!!

  • I'm sick and bloody tired of tossers like you lot slagging of nice guy colin gaddafi. I for one think he's well within his rights to murder his people, it's the only way they'll learn. Hark back to the dark days of yore when annilingus was rife on the streets of tripoli, a disgusting yet oddly arousing sight, let me tell you. I was there when the 'anni riots' took place. Grace Mugabe's anus ended up like a wizards sleeve. Those days are gone thanks to big Col. Top bloke, just misunderstood.

  • @jizzspraya Yeah I'm with you dude If Gaddafi wants the respect of his people he must inflict serious violence on them and show the cunts who is the gaffer. If I was his main army guy I would find out who was causing the probs. I would then pinch their dinner money, flush there head down the toilets and get the rest of the guys to inflict a chineese burn on the miscreant. I thought gaddafys christain name was Cecil.

  • No...in fact your incorrect sir. There was apparently a shoe throwing incident recently involving Colin Gadaffi, it was actually in Horncastle. Colin and Bobbi Mugabe were necking Buckfast and Tennants like nobodies business, then Bobbi broke off to finger the local hottie, turned out to be Queen Bee from the local scum estate, it all kicked off and ended up with a orthapedic boot being chucked at Bobbi, but it hit Colin on the heed, he's ok though and back to braying the fuck out his people.

  • Ere this Monster rat bird looks a bit grim but she has a nice voice. I know this mong at work who rekonz to have done a duet with her at the Todmordon working mens club. This is a lie coz no one works in turdmordon. Speaking of lying my big, fat, spacker bruvvar rekons to have chucked his shoe a gaddafi again another lie coz if said spacker boot hit him it would have knocked him out cold.

Unicos e irrepetibles.Tanto la Diva como el rockero.Grande, grande Freddie,Brava, bravisima Montserrat.

  • GREAT Montserrat Caballé !

  • In all my respect and love for Freddie Mercury, Monserrat Caballe has got too few glory for this amazing performance. And she sings much better than Freddie. Without her, this song wouldnt have half of its value.

  • @TheNotMK They were both excellent. I think Freddie Mercury was exceptional considering he was slowly dying. This was his last public performance.

  • @TheNotMK Sorry I disagree although she has a great voice does not mean hers is better. Freddie is god.

  • They originally chose this song as Olympic Song, and then changed their mind! This is Freddie and Monserrat's beautiful rendition of "Barcelona", the lyrics and harmonies written by Mercury. It certainly deserved to be the winning number, as it has wonderful harmonies and such touching lyrics. The sheer magic of these two artists coming together to make history in music. It would have made Freddie so happy to still be here in 1992 and to sing this with Monserrat at the Opening Ceremonies!

(thanks from Russia)

  • the best thing is that Freddie did not take any music lesson!!

  • This is not just music.... It´s HISTORY!!!!!!

  • lindooooooooooooooo e unico!

  • wonder wonder wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Loved Freddie and Queen. Sends a shiver down my spine when I hear the guy hitting those Tubular Bells in this video. Brilliant :-)

  • i still can't understand why... all... those tears...!!!!!!! He's definitely overshined dear Mrs Caballe.... Jesus Christ... And all those fireworks.... I'm speechless....

  • i miss you freddie

  • Bravo Freddie, With Love from Thailand!

  • T.T Love ya Freddie....better than you is impossible. You´re a big part of my life and I´m your fan forever no matter what they say.

    R.I.P

  • It's because of people like Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé that there's still beauty in this world.

  • Super.With love from Russia!

  • all the world's missing a great singer like Freddie

  • I'm very dissapointed because Freddie didn't sing at "La Nit" festival at all, it was all playback!!!! Montserrat neither did!!!!! Sadly, that performance was almost exactly 3 years before his death (November 1991), and Freddie was very ill, I can even see it in his face! I guess that's why he couldn't sing live and he didn't that anymore...

  • IMMENSO

  • Brian is playin the Drums!!! LOL

  • I bet Freddie burst into tears at the end. :) Fantastc!

  • MUY BUENO FELICITACIONES.

  • ez sz. barcelona a +oldás

  • You can really see the theatricality that Freddie honed in countless live concerts as he's singing here. Even more than opera impressario, Freddie knew how to be grand and dramatic.

  • @Morrigan070671 What you said is so true and to think that Freddie was very, very shy off stage. He felt uncomfortable if people stared at him on the streets. He would shy away. But on stage he exploded with all those people staring at him.

  • @Yo1969Yo Freddie says he liked to ham it up on stage, yet no one had an inkling about his lifestyle until near the end of his life. If that's not shying away from attention and keeping yourself to yourself, I don't know what is.

  • She was in love with him I think from what I see, he practically had to kick her out of his Kensigton home once because she only had a few hours left to get a plane back to Spain for a gig. They would have made a very nice couple.

  • @Maxshard Caballe said that "Freddie conquered me". She continued by saying that she had never met a musician with as much talent that Freddie had. Freddie wrote lyrics and composed music from rock to this and everything in between and to top it off there was his great voice and stage presence.

She also said something to the effect of the way Freddie did things in the studio. Things she had never done before and it worked. She was speechless in amazement.

    She cared deeply for Freddie.

  • @SamurajxXx

What a ridiculous, ignorant thing to utter.

  • Comment removed

  • As a fan of both Queen and Opera I have to say that Freddie and and Montserrat did a splendid job. There were people that thought it wouldn't work. Another favorite of mine, ELVIS, worked with opera performers during his career. Because of that I knew Barcelona would be a smashing success.

  • this duet gave me shivers... :)

  • Merry Christmas Freddie

  • Because of this song I fell in love in "Queen" back than when I was only 5 or 6 years old. True love for Freddy's music <3

  • Breathtaking... can't believe I've never actually seen this... Just wonderful... Poor Freddie... :)

  • coming from an opera singer, i sincerely think freddie kicks montserrat's ass! ;)

  • @polarkit Opera diva Montserrat gave Freddie several compliments. She told him that he sings like a soprano. Freddie just smiled. She couldn't believe how fast Freddie wrote the songs & the music for the album. In the beginning of their meetings she told Freddie that so and so did it this way and Freddie grabbed her hand and said but they are not here, I am. After she saw what Freddie did (arrangements, writing, singing) she said that Freddie conquered her. All this while he was dying.
