I'm unsure what was most annoyng, that little rat doing handstands or the soundtrack. Next can you teach him to pick better music at the record shop, and can you teach him to eat some food so he grows into a real dog?

im trying to teach my pomeranian this trick! how does she know to put her hund legs on the books? like on her first time ever did you just put her legs on it and then give her a treat?

But I think it's not recommended for a 4 month old puppy...maybe you should wait until she's 10-12 months old and her growth plates are closed...

how did you get your dog to walk backwards and put his feet on the book? I have tried with my border collie, and he just sits on the book. GARGH!

But I have to say, that it is not good to do such a trick in the age of 4 month, if your dog is bigger. It is not good for the bones.

The dog is very cute and the training is good, but you shouldn´t train the dog until he´s at least one year old, it can damage his back and bones. :D

I would really like to train my jack russell to do a handstand, but we compete in dog trials (Going for CCD) and I'm worried about it interfering with our comps. Any suggestions or ideas? I also don't use a clicker/food because he isn't food driven in the slightest. Thanks + keep up the good work!

Smart dog! But was this puppy only 4 months old???? I'd never would teach my dog the handstand when she was that young becouse you're taking a risk developing HD with your dog... When they are about 2 years and they have enough muscles in their legs and the bones aren't that soft anymore, than it's a good age to learn a dog the handstand. It's thesame with running up the stairs and learning the dog to walk on their behindlegs... Wait till the pup is at least 1,5 years old...

whats the command you say when you get your dog to do handstand? do you just say.,,, handstand? or u got something better easier to say for your dog to catch on faster

First you must teach the dog to "back up" -walk backwards, then when he starts touching the book you use the command "up", eventually we switched to "handstand". I will post a new video soon, this dog doesn't need the wall for support anymore:)

The "click" you hear is a training tool called a "clicker" - you can get it at any pet store. It helps your dog understand exactly what you want him to do:)

Yes you guys are right, during initial training I clicked exactly on the trick.. what we are clicking for in this video is strength training his upper body to "HOLD" the position. Since he is 4 months old (3 lbs.) this is a tough trick for him. Next we will start to get him off the wall and onto my arm in the middle of the floor. Don't know how long this will take:)

5*! Your Chihuahua is doing pawsome:). I agee with Heather, the click is late. at 1:53, he did a handstand and that is what you should be clicking. He can do it and even offered a few on his own before landing on the books:). Great video and wonderful training!
