I know this is probably a TV promo clip but it cuts off the best part. She was about to tell him some very important news. Also, why is this music track not on the soundtrack? I can't find it anywhere?
I think this is the best scene of the movie - how they both stop and just reflect in the mirror, really appreciating and creating a memory of that moment in time with eachother that they know won't last. I think its something we all miss doing, we are so fast paced we don't actually slow down and reflect enough on things that make life beautiful. Its a powerful moment.

* Dancings all about the line, the line of your body, sooner or later you lose that line and never get it back I figured, you were born in 1918, forty-nine years ago, Im forty-three, we are almost the same age. Were meeting in the middle.
- We kind of caught up with each other. Wait, I want to remember us just as we are now.
This movie has a bigger message then any other, when you seriosly think about it!
It has more then one message, but the most important one is You always have a choice in life, and even if you dont make the right choices you can always start over and be happy! Its about leaving whats most important to us and starting over from nothing to create something beautiful! He says to his dauther, I hope you grow happy and pround, and if not you can always achieve happiness from starting over againd!
We should leave our partners whilst still in the prime of life because we are inevitably going to deteriorate and become nothing more than a burden to them.
Is there any other message that anyone got from him leaving his partner and child the way he did?

this movie was the most boring fucking thing ever. HUGE dissapointment. The whole film was pointless and felt like it would never end. I was just sitting there thinking to myself, why am I continuing to watch this bunch of nothing.
To enjoy this movie you either had to be asleep or manically depressed. This movie sucked, bottomline. There is no getting around it. I wish I could get my money and time back that was wasted in trying to give this garbage of a film a chance. Fuck you and benjamin button.
LOL, you keep trying to make me say something so you can degrade my taste in movies. Ill tell you this, alteast transformers had some hair on its balls. All BB involved was some boring freak of nature for old ladies to gaulk at and remark about how cute he is while he travels around doing odd jobs with no rhyme or reason. The film sucked real hard, to a new level. You either had to have been a huge brad pitt fan or a 75 year old sentimental sapsucker to appreciate this one.
But to actually argument against you, how is it that such a horrible film received thirteen Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Pitt, and Best Supporting Actress for Taraji P. Henson and win three Oscars for Art Direction, Makeup, and Visual Effects?
I seem bigoted because I said a movie has hair on its balls? You sound like a powder puff princess. I could care less who nominates these films, it has no pull on my vote whether it is good or not. I make my own mind up when it comes to liking something, I dont need someone to tell me something is good when I can clearly see it is not. End of story and discussion.
It's just confusing when you say you have "great taste in movies" then say a movie sucks, even though it's been nominated and won a few of the most prestigeous awards.
Because I choose what I like for myself, not because it has awards given to it. Take for example a movie you think is just completely stupid and say it was given a award you thought it was unworthy of, would that make you start liking it? I sure would hope not.
Whose to tell who what "great taste" is? Just because I disagree with you about the quality of this movie doesnt degrade anyones taste. You like what you like and I just stated my opinion on it. Over.
Simultaneously, the film appeared on many critics' top ten lists of the best films of 2008. According to Movie City News, the film has appeared on 79 different top ten lists out of 286 different critics lists surveyed, the 6th most mentioned on a top ten list of the films released in 2008. According to CriticsTop10, the film appeared on over 136 film critics top ten lists, with 12 number one mentions, and was also ranked 6th of the year in terms of appearances on critics' top ten lists.
i don't see anything funny about it. except maybe the make up.
look, i really think people have been swindled as re: this movie. it was terribly written, clunky and heavyhanded in the extreme, and worse than anything it was so so so boring. and the ACTING?! does no one hear those accents? this is like bad community theater, but with superstars and digital effects.
almost nobody here agrees with you. and who are you to talk about the acting, when most likely you're nowhere near as good and never will be. and the accents are actually dead-on you fucking moron. and if the acting was so bad, how come brad pitt was nominated for the best actor academy award?, also how come the digital effects and makeup were both nominated also?, better yet, how come this film was nominated for all the major oscars, including BEST PICTURE?. but i guess you know more.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
there's an obvious answer to these questions, immediately evident to anyone with a modicum of taste or common sense: the academy awards are just an industry gladhanding party, and their determinations have nothing to do with artistic achievement.
my evidence? this film. which sucked. all 3 1/2 hours of it.
i would agree cate is normally a pleasure to watch. hell, i like brad pitt. but this was unconscionable.
and i was stoned when i saw it, so the job of entertaining me was that much easier.
Nonsense. My partner votes on the Academy. THis film is a masterpiece. Let's agree to disagree......oh, here comes the barrage of expletives so prevelant on Youtube. Prevelant means that they happen a lot....
you spelled prevalent wrong, and i've used no expletives here. i know plenty of people on the academy. they are all delusional and childish with age. though i don't know that any of them had decent taste in the first place (this movie being testament).
Sorry, English is only one of my languages. I'm German. Prevelant? I appreciate the decent note. My partner and others are not all this way. Watch the movie about three times and you will see. Thanks.
That girl is ready his journal thingy to her mommy. She says like half way through the book that pages were ripped out. They can make a movie about the missing pages of his journal thingy...
I haven't watched the film, but a film critic I saw on a TV channel made a very accurate prediction about benjamin button's prospects at the Oscars. It only won 3 technical awards and didn't make it in the popular awards. No offense, though. It releases in India this Friday and I'm looking forward to the response it gets.
No kidding I'm from Texas and in every thing I see they almost ALWAYS over do the accents its a little offensive when people think we're all hillbillies because we have a twang in of voice: Back to the subject I love Love LOVE this movie and am trying to find out when it comes out on DVD and it deserves more Oscars than it got
well I just watched Slumdog Millionaire in a movie theatre and watched Benjamin Button at home on my own computer, ripped with very good quality and really cannot understand how and why Slumdog won? It's a good movie, but Benjamin Button stands so much higher! and Cate Blanchett SHINES here ...
@CapricornBG its Hollywood current stage where they have to awards "colled" movies / actors. I am no racist but it was like when Barry and Denzel won on same night, for first time black person to win. It was so shallow and transparent.
I couldn't care less about oscars but that was my opinion when i saw it.
This, in my opinions is the most moving and best scene in the movie. It works on so many levels. It is amazing how much symbolism they convey in one scene and so few words.
before this scene they r watchin the beatles( the song was twist and shout which they firstly performed in 1963) but it z impossible bcoz 1918+40=1958 they r in 1958 in this scene...but i loved this movie so muchhhhhhhhhhh
I just saw this movie for the 2nd time, it's a really good movie and it actually feels like a short story, which is what the movie is based on. I also thought Elle did a great job and I think she will eventually surpass Dakota. And Taraji Henson really deserved her best supporting actress nomination, she was the heart and soul of the movie. Great movie can't wait to watch it again.
does anybody know the one song in the movie where the old woman taught benjamin to play the piano or if they remeber what the womans name was so i can find the part lol
Perhaps I'm wrong (I haven't actually seen the film) but isn't there even more symbolism in this particular scene? I'm thinking of the way they approach each other on the ballet handrail - symbolic of the way their lifelines are coming together at that point?
OMG i loved that movie, it was amazing, and i couldnt recommend a better movie to go to for a first date, its sad, cute, funny, and just a great movie
they are suh awesome actors!!

I love this part of the movie...the old man and the baby had met in the middle and had met at their peak.
When they put their arms around each other and he says " i wanna remember us just as we were" that is one of the most romantic cinematic scenes ever.
They both look stunning in it too and in love ....great acting from both.

It's from "Alone at Night" when Benjamin is going to sleep in the attic as a "young" boy

Is the music that plays in this scene somewhere on the score? I can't seem to find it. Help please.

this movie was by far one of the worst and most tiresome maybe i have ever seen. completely flaccid, self indulgent and trite.

ooo a comedian
DaPizzaMan09 2 years ago
i don't see anything funny about it. except maybe the make up.
look, i really think people have been swindled as re: this movie. it was terribly written, clunky and heavyhanded in the extreme, and worse than anything it was so so so boring. and the ACTING?! does no one hear those accents? this is like bad community theater, but with superstars and digital effects.
sleepswalks 2 years ago
almost nobody here agrees with you. and who are you to talk about the acting, when most likely you're nowhere near as good and never will be. and the accents are actually dead-on you fucking moron. and if the acting was so bad, how come brad pitt was nominated for the best actor academy award?, also how come the digital effects and makeup were both nominated also?, better yet, how come this film was nominated for all the major oscars, including BEST PICTURE?. but i guess you know more.

there's an obvious answer to these questions, immediately evident to anyone with a modicum of taste or common sense: the academy awards are just an industry gladhanding party, and their determinations have nothing to do with artistic achievement.
my evidence? this film. which sucked. all 3 1/2 hours of it.
i would agree cate is normally a pleasure to watch. hell, i like brad pitt. but this was unconscionable.
and i was stoned when i saw it, so the job of entertaining me was that much easier.
sleepswalks 2 years ago
Nonsense. My partner votes on the Academy. THis film is a masterpiece. Let's agree to disagree......oh, here comes the barrage of expletives so prevelant on Youtube. Prevelant means that they happen a lot....
MAREKGERHARDT 2 years ago
you spelled prevalent wrong, and i've used no expletives here. i know plenty of people on the academy. they are all delusional and childish with age. though i don't know that any of them had decent taste in the first place (this movie being testament).
sleepswalks 2 years ago

It releases in India this Friday and I'm looking forward to the response it gets.

this is an amazing movie, i think that if slumdog and milk came out later, this would have gotten alot more attention! i loved it!
There accents were perfect!
i am obsessed with Benjamen's accent. i love it so much!!!
this is one of my fav movies.
Brad Pitt- i love you!!!!
i love it. i wish it got more oscars!!!!
Lightinthecorner 3 years ago 2

CapricornBG 3 years ago 19
i couldn't agree more...though I am Asian... Benjamin Button certainly better than Slumdog
naimasayangku 2 years ago
@CapricornBG She is absolutely fantastic! Yes I agree with you - it should have won.
wildredrose99 1 year ago
@CapricornBG its Hollywood current stage where they have to awards "colled" movies / actors. I am no racist but it was like when Barry and Denzel won on same night, for first time black person to win. It was so shallow and transparent.
I couldn't care less about oscars but that was my opinion when i saw it.

This, in my opinions is the most moving and best scene in the movie. It works on so many levels. It is amazing how much symbolism they convey in one scene and so few words.

Perhaps I'm wrong (I haven't actually seen the film) but isn't there even more symbolism in this particular scene? I'm thinking of the way they approach each other on the ballet handrail - symbolic of the way their lifelines are coming together at that point?
Perhaps I'm reading too much into it...
