Thirteen Years Old in the Fourth Grade by Hannah Faye is a book that every new teacher should read who plans to work in any urban district. It documents a true account of one teachers struggle and the ridiculous things she had to fight against while working in the public school system. Thank you for this video.
Great video. I'm a teacher, teach 3rd graders. What we need is Music and Art placed back in the schools. There are still these two in the richer communities, but not in mine. Vocational education also needs to be back into schools. They want more kids to graduate, put vocational education back in the schools...but wait, that would mean we need manufacturing back in the United States. Read "Outsourcing manufacturing hurts U.S.
With all due respect, sports is not a critical function of schools. My brother teaches in North Carolina and was a known Division I athlete. He was not required to coach, but volunteered after behind hired.
If the one coach had to leave to go get an activity bus, then that is mismanagement of the local resources. All the schools in my area have their own activity buses that stay on campus.
Many schools have booster clubs with *involved parents* that pay the majority of coaches salaries.
