At least your ship is armed with window wipers should the entire North Sea decide to get a bit naughty! Admire your bravery mate, that is a mean looking swell.
I am a truck driver, and sometimes we hit really bad weather. And I was thinking that at least I am lucky, because I can find a safe spot to park and wait for it to blow over... you can.t....
@toukie1310 thats partially true, we often check the weatherforecast. So we know what weather we are running into. But we need to keep going because we need to make money, so most of the time no matter how bad the weather we have to go trough. There are some vessels that stay near calmer/coastal waters and wait it out. But that is going to cost a buttload of money
Incredible, I went through the Bay of Biscay once on the Pride of Bilboa and the sea was like mountains and valleys, side on to us, I thought we were going capsize, but they werent breaking like this.
@TheAr15master unfortunatly yes. If a ship is sailing in the same direction as the waves it can capsize when its on the top of a wave. also if the waves are coming from the side and you stability isnt suffiecient or the cargo shifts (especially when transporting treelogs)capsizing can also occur. hope this answers your question :)
