  • If i was actually at he makers fair, i would be freaking out when i saw kipkay!

  • "Get some Vaseline so it'll slide easily"...... That's what she said

  • this guys voice is creepy

  • thumbs up if you hate makers faires!!

  • I didnt understand anything in this vid, did u ?

  • Turn on closed captions and do transcribe audio, then go to 3:00!!! ROFLMAO

  • adiabatic heating cool as shit

  • This will come in handy during a Zombie Apocalypse...

  • great video, now all you need when you are lost into the wild is some vaseline to grees you're fire piston and an o ring :)

  • I like the Absinthe and Flamethrower poster in the back, excellent combination FTW

  • Nasty.... 2:53

  • That one guy in the background at 0:10

  • oh im sorry did he say put on the knob and vaso the shaft? BAHAHAHAHA

  • 2:54 looks wrong

  • 2:45 ...close your eyes and listen...

  • @ThefamousZozo oh i Did and I like : P

  • I want Absinthe and Flamethrowers!

  • you got diesel

  • Kipkay, I Live in mAlaysiA!!:)

  • Hej

  • Wow I realized i said "thats what she said" about 7 times

    LOL sexual inuendo is sexual

  • watch?v=gn1q9LW_F2s

  • lol gotta lube the shaft xD

  • i guess a magnifying glass works bc of friction too. heat is disorder, friction must happen for one excited molecule to excite another. even if disorder is spread electromagneticaly like in a electron furnace or in a microwave, thats bc of friction. this isnt a fire bow, most people dont think of thermodynamic definition of friction. they think of sand paper and waterslides. mr wizard

  • 2:54 dear god

  • Ok so... by using friction from the compressed air you create a "Friction-less Flame"? Wait what?

  • @AMBKrenos

No, its not friction, its part of Boyle's law, the greater the pressure the greater the temperature.

  • @TheLyreGuy Actually I can still be technically correct, as Boyle's Law cannot be perfectly executed in the real world there will always be friction. Friction cause in the process, and friction caused by the piston. ^_^

  • @AMBKrenos Wrong, on too many levels to bother enumerating them.

  • 2:49  ||:)

  • my bootlaces and a pocket knife are better at multitasking then this one trick pony. Try a fire drill next time.

  • lol i want kipkay to explain better than the Bill Gurstelle guy :|

  • I would yell HADOUKEN! every time I did that

  • I saw a bigger one on survivor man

  • thats how a disel engen works i now this

  • 8=======D

  • when i need fire i just use me lighter

  • this guy is way to excited about pistons and greasing up rods

  • Thıs vıd SUCKS balls

  • @45muncher YOU SUCK BALLS

  • @jeandadocta what if you don't have lighter or matches dumbass.

  • @pldreys i think i am more likely to carry a lighter or matches than a loobed up pole but im sure its not the same way for you

  • im gonna lube up this rod so it slides nice and easily. Ok children

  • I'M FROM MALAYSIA! WOHOOOO!

  • Or just use a lighter xD

  • 8==========>

  • the most pointless makemagazine video ever

  • That is pretty cool!

  • And Thus Pistons was born in minecraft.

  • @sadgtw GO MINECRAFT!!!

    Ps: I LOVE MINECRAFT :)

  • @thaminecraftgamer yeah :)

  • sounds like skins

  • is anyone else seeing electrical discharges from that?

  • keep pressing 3

  • 2:49 That's what she said! xD

  • 2:45

  • 3:07 to see what it actually does

  • Therewhere some sexual references in this video!

    piston-penis

    cylinder-vagina

    vasoline-lube

    o ring-cock ring

    the shaft!!! hahahaha

  • piston-penis

    cylinder-vagina

    vasoline-lube

    o ring-cock ring

  • right when he said '' ok, so im gonna get the vasilene" i was gettin ready to close the vid (srry spelling)

  • i saw this being put to use in Survivor Man

  • Ima grease up this rod, Make sure it slides, Lawl

  • i still preferer a normal lighter

  • wtf the highest rated comments are the same thing?????

  • yeah.. well plastic tubes dont come easy in a survival situation... in survival you have to use what you have and not something for sale. Because i could buy a lighter just as easy to start fire... Plenty of other goods vids on how to make a fire piston in the wild.

  • 2:42, that's what she said lol

  • So if i could make self compressing, dry, air tight lemon I could burn Life's house down with it...

  • all of that work for a small light?

  • Comment removed

  • "heres where the knob goes" lol

"im gonna grese up this rod so it slides"

  • "I could light a bigger fire from this. I could light a campfire; I could light tinder...I could burn your house down..."

  • lighter is the way easier to make fire

  • @htolad yes, yes it is unknown random person that i shall call a friend out of tradition.

  • so its a diesel \

  • Thank you gizmodo i forgot about this

  • 1)vaseline CHECK > 2)tightness CHECK > 3) Problem? girlfriend

  • so let me get this straight. you grab the knob, then rub vaseline down the shaft and insert it into the cylinder??..

  • Thats pretty cool, but technically friction is still the source of heat for this fire starter. When the gas is compressed the gas molecules are pushed closer together and the molecular friction between the gas molecules creates enough heat to ignite the char cloth. Pretty impressive way to start a fire, it seems to be a much more efficient and reliable method than other "primitive" forms of fire starting.

  • yeah bear grylls made one

  • anyone saw the creep in 0:04 lol

  • wow... Malaysia, there's where i'm from and i have never heard of this!

  • too bad you need fire to make charcloth

  • 2:52 hahahaha

  • why kipkay don't show we how to do it?

  • what's wrong with the normal match ?

  • nob heeheehee

    said 1002 immmature boys

  • this video is full of "thats what she said" jokes

  • Same principal as the diesel engine

  • Hes a quite a salesman :)

  • This is how Roy Mustang does it

  • lolz the captions are so hilarious

  • KipKay!

  • On your way to the local camp groung you get pulled over for rolling through a 4 way stop...

Cop: "Mind if I search your vehicle?"

    you: "Sure, no problem."

    Cop: "What's this?"

    You: "My 'fire piston'."

Cop: "Sure it is. Please turn around and place your hands on the hood of my vehicle! What other drug paraphanelia do you have?"

  • or use a lighter XD.

  • vasaline LoL xD

  • I want to know this: What the hell did the natives use instead of an "O" ring? I mean seriously, I want to make a traditional fire piston as well as a modern one.

  • @Takiado I've read about this in a couple survival books and usually string or some kind of fiber was wrapped around the end of the shaft to make it a really tight fit. Use some bamboo or a hollowed out piece of wood (if you wanna take the time) for the cylinder. I've never made one personally but after seeing it I want to try.

  • @ps1029384756 awesome Thanks! I assume after a while the fiber used for the o ring will probably wear out much quicker than a rubberized one, but still it'll work I assume. Thanks for the reply man!

  • Im Malaysian!!! :)

  • it does use friction, because as the air compresses it's essentially "rubbing" causing a large amount of heat

  • must have one O_O

  • Comment removed

  • man, u guys shut up, this is ingenious, especially back in its time. all you need is this and you never have to worry about matches running out, magnesium, or time to build a wooden spindle.

  • @jukio02 how about cloth running out?

  • @MrIbrahimO the forest is filled with shit to light up

  • the fire piston is older than 200 years...

  • we want to see kipkay do the tutorials!!!

  • is this how babies are made???????????

  • @killakam1995 wtf!!!

  • Friction or matches is way easier than building that whole thing

  • @Lokito999able yes but fire pistons aren't one use

  • Yay, now i have a reason to run around with vaseline, setting things on fire :p

  • or! i could buy a box of matches for 10 cents... -.-

  • @rebeccastarkey and when they're soakin wet? lol

  • 2:53 thats what she said!

  • youtube can't show after 2:55

  • masturbating a rod in public is that a fellowny

  • @BenjaminLOfficial no shit sherlock

  • I've got a boner.

  • "It's so dry that it's black!" lol

  • @Trainz105 that is so raceiz

  • @KillzonePOL Why don't you learn how to spell RACIST?

  • @Trainz105 i dont get it.

  • what is wrong with a lighter

  • @roglet123 Lighters can run out of fuel. These don't.

  • @rockstarduh5 - you could run out of char cloth!

  • @joshua2232007gold haha true but with a tin, you could always just make more with pieces of your shirt and whatnot

  • I hope he knows that some vaseline on char cloth and it wouldve worked better

  • 110 ppl who couldnt start a damn fire

  • i use nukes to start fires!!!

  • They seem to like rods, shafts, nobs and vaseline... <:O

  • LOLOLOLOLOL Fire Piston is the name of a band I played in for a bit too funny

  • lube itup

  • "Its so dry that it is black."

  • @RoyalCaoCao biter

  • hahaha great video! great comments! and best of all, great rod ;)!

  • that is friction dude

  • @kennybigmac81 Would you say that a diesel engine is based on friction? Because the principle's the same. Air is compressed so hard, that when the diesel is injected to the compressed air, it ignites just by the heat from the compression. So no, NOT friction dude.

  • @spancer87 But yes dude! The air molecules heat up when compressed because why? Friction of the molecules bouncing off of each other.

  • mmmm.. so carrying matches/lighter is harder than carrying huge "rod" which needs some superdry stuff only available in stores.

  • This video is so full of sexual innuendos...

  • Ha ha he said knob

  • haha he said knob!

  • wahh orang asli so smart one, help contribute to the creation of the diesel engine. fuhyoohh.

  • out it in the pissin

  • Hey,I LIVE IN MALAYSIA

  • I THINK THAT THING CANT EVEN LIGHT A MATCH

  • IT'S SO DRY THAT IT'S BLACK.

  • No offense, but this guy hasn't invented shit. Instead of diesel he puts in a highly flammable substance, just substitute it with diesel gas and you got a diesel engine. No creativity or imagination was used. It's a great device no argue, but not yours. Thumbs Down.

  • @VardanB92 he didn't say he invented it, he even said its been used for over 200 years

  • can it light fires?

  • @themeancat123 u fail

  • when do you put the fire in the bottom?

  • this guy is high

  • that guy is creepy

  • Were do you heat all parts

  • Were do you get all the parts

  • Anyone other than me remember this guy from This old house?

  • whooo 212 924 viewer !!!!

  • just shut up and make fire, shit.

  • katoon

  • 1000 get

  • i got the 999th like!

  • just sayin this but that isnt a good model the main model is made of wood, I've made a wooden fire piston before

  • yes

  • Hmmm I'm quite sure it's hotter than 500 degrees

  • i didnt understand a thing

and like imagin lithing a firework with that

but it will be cool cuz cops wont now wat is that

  • th
