Hah, how cool that this was near you! I think my Astronomy teacher was talking about this last night. Apparently the city tried to declare the meteorite as theirs and took it away from the kid. But after an uprising of complaints and news articles entitled something like "City steals meteorite from kid", the rock was given back to him. Then out of the kindness of his heart, he donated it to a meteorite museum. *wipes tear*
that would be awesome if you had heard about something happening in my little town, but sadly the fight over the meteorite wasn't here. That was in Monahans, Texas :)
