  • I wish there was more 78 footage on the net where ed plays the black/white charvel.

  • @charvelstrat81 check with video64 site also there is Day On The Green footage a few seconds

  • I came up from Lemoore to see this show... did'nt know there was footage all this time. I must still be recovering....... thanks for the memories : P

  • I saw them 5 days later in Portland, Oregon. I got out of the Navy that day and had to get from Seattle to Portland and just made it in time. It was one of the most mazing concerts I had ever been to, them and Sabbath tearing up the Coliseum.

  • UNREAL!

  • The white Jimi hendrix!

  • I like guitar wankery as much as the next guy but this is pretty unlistenable.

  • this shit is fucking insane. I know that Hendrix is supposed to be the best guitarist of all time.

    but c'mon. CMON.

  • @Coldacre Two completely different styles. You can't really compare them. If you really want to blow your mind go listen to Django & realize that he played what he did on an acoustic using only 2 fingers on a disfigured hand.

  • EVH learned to solo by studying Jimmy Page, I saw an interview with Eddie and he said that. No one could touch Eddie in the late 70's and early 80's, not even close.

C'mon Eddie, VH needs to give us more before the planet burns up!!!!! I hope you guys are serious about recording a new album. DAVE!!!! give up the paramedic job and make music for christs sake. WE ALL LOVE YA AND MISS YA!!!

  • that was my first concert. i am there some were close to the front. my father drove me from bass lake ca 50 miles away how cool i can go back 32yrs and remember my youth........

  • Ok. . . now I need the wet-n-dry vac. . . my face just melted and dripped all over the carpet. . .

  • awesome!!! i had the opputunity to see them in 78 opening for sabbath and they made sabbath look old

  • Randy Rhoads V.S. Eddie Van Halen biggest guitar heros ever.

  • ed is god plain and simple!

  • they were definitely before their time.... way!

  • this fresno concert was the single greatest VH performance ever. hands down

  • This is a piece of history here...

  • After Jimi Hendrix there was Eddie Van Halen. Nobody has done it since Eddie.Nobody. Except for maybe Eddy Swass ;^}

  • this is from there 1978 world tour i saw this tour in philadelphia pa. still recovering

31 years later. eddie van halen will always be the alltime greatest!

  • Thats awesome man! I was only 11yrs old at the time but I remember them playing at The Goldenwest Ballroom in Norwalk by my house before they got signed. What a band and the last of it's kind. Wow dude you saw them out in Philadelphia? Damn thats sweet! I bet they tore that stage up!

  • yep! Philadelphia spectrum 1978

  • did they open for Bkack Sabbath?

  • they did and fucked sabbath up!

  • Me!

  • Well, actually with out Jimi Hendrix AND Jimmy Page... since that fret playing EVH does is more of something Jimmy Page was known for.

  • as you turn the knob to the left,it slows down the effect if you turn it up, it gets faster. So when he turns it on, it is all the way up. Then he starts to turn it down.

  • that effect is a Phaser and sounds like a little bit of flange in there also

  • Either you love Eddy Swass or you sniff Sweaty Ass! the chioce is yours. thank you.

  • I believe that was his tape echo unit. If you mess with the speed a bit, that sound will happen. Though you could kill the tape in an old unit doing it.

  • Whats that thing he turning up at 3:25

  • That is the Univox EC-80 echo unit that is mounted in a hollowed out "practice bomb" from WWII. It is the effect that gives the long growl you hear at the end of "Eruption" on the record. He only used it for this effect and never used it for any other reason or on any other song as far as I know...

  • Gracias for the info

  • This is 1978, the shit known as Emo didn't exist till the 90s, when many fag rockers came in to existence.

  • @DoDaDa111 easy now... :)

  • this isnt emo its classic rock

  • @hlmguitarsaxman lol who the fuck said its emo?

  • are you on drugs?

  • he means Eddie Most Obliterating

  • Eddie blew all those old crusty burned out guitarists from the 70's! They didnt know what hit them. This is amazing shit!

  • I think he needs hip surgery.

  • yeah and jimi h is his daddy!

  • more insane than any modern guitarist

  • Eddie is KING!!!!!!!!!!
