the prius is one of the least envionmentally friendly cars on the market if you add in it's manufacture. it's more damaging to the environment than a land rover discovery if you include manufacture. if you want a environmentally friendly, economical, practical car, go for one of volvo's driv-e range, ford fiesta econetic, honda clarity. i know people that drive prius' and they struggle to get over 42 mpg, i get more than that from my vw vento. a petrol powered, non feul injected, 1.8litre vw.

I would rather keep my car that is fifteen years old than spend 30 grand on this small, weak car. Even though my car guzzles twice the gas this thing does, it would make up for the purchase price. also, the batteries on this thing will have to be replaced every few years, which would not be cheap. Hybrids are not the answer now, there needs to be a new system developed or refined from current experimental tech, like fuel cells and slow discharge condensers to power strong electric motors.

I test drove this car at night and almost got sideswiped and that sealed my decision to NOT buy it. Tinted windows on this car is a bad idea. The hatchback design limits the visibility of the driver through the rear window and creates a blind spot. Loved everything else about the Prius. I suggest a test drive in the daytime and at night time to see how it feels for you.

It doesn't matter which vehicle you purchase.... the auto-makers and the oil company still going to screw you up. Buy a V-8 vehicle and you'll save $6,000 (which will make up for the gas price).... Buy a hybrid and it'll cost you $6,000 more (which will make up for the money that the gas company lost). The oil company and the auto-maker walks hand in hand. Either way...you're screwed. HAHAHAHA

How much does the battery cost when it dies, I heard anywhere from 4k-6k I geuss battery makers will be the rich pigs 20 years from now? I wanted fuel economy car so I bought a used 1990 civic dx for 900 bucks, I get 35~mpg mixed country/city and does it very reliably with a fun to drive 5 speed. A used prius around me runs around 20grand, Im already 19,000 ahead of fuel savings and get almost as good of real world mpg and not worry about batteries,and the smart guys my honda battery was 25bucks
The batteries cost around 3 grand. The savings in gas over ten years would pay for the batteries 6.5 times. Also, chevron owns the patent rights to the batteries used in the prius and they basically have restricted the use. They could easily be 500 dollars.

Ugly, impractical, slow and has NO appeal on any level whatsoever. If you want a vehicle that's good on gas mileage without sacrificing style or performance, invest in a Volkswagen TDi. You'll pay more per gallon for diesel fuel but it burns much slower and in the long run will save just as much if not more money on gas than with this travisty of a vehicle. Not to mention a VW is much safer in a collision than the Prius which is a total death trap and one of the most unsafe vehicles on the road.

the prius is one of the least envionmentally friendly cars on the market if you add in it's manufacture. it's more damaging to the environment than a land rover discovery if you include manufacture. if you want a environmentally friendly, economical, practical car, go for one of volvo's driv-e range, ford fiesta econetic, honda clarity. i know people that drive prius' and they struggle to get over 42 mpg, i get more than that from my vw vento. a petrol powered, non feul injected, 1.8litre vw.

surprisingly, economy is expected to improve from 4.4l/km to below 4.0l/km (around 55-60mpg, which is great) and emmisions may get to as low as 89g/km from the current's 104g/km. it is also to get a little larger with even more interior room (something other fuel efficient cars lack) and with much more options and feature, such as solar panels. jeremy clarkson, chew on the next gen prius!

by the way, the next gen prius is scheduled to arrive at the dealers sometime this year,with the official unveiling at the detroit show at jan 12th. from credicle sources,this new prius will driven by a new and larger 1.8l engine (current is 1.5l) ,a more powerful electric motor and will have considerable improvements to the rest of the hybrid drivetrain. it's expected to gain an increase to its power to around 110-120kw from the current prius's 82kw while retaining the V8 like torque from 0rpm.

also, when you consider the limitations of a normal diesel, you might come to realise that the prius is in fact quite a good alternative. for eg, although a diesel engine is more efficient than its petrol counterpart of the SAME DISPLACEMENT, the diesel might actually be doing more harm to the environment by emitting more harmful gasses such as soot and nitrogen oxides. oh yeah, if your goal is simply to save money, you cant ignore the higher price of diesel too.

I would rather keep my car that is fifteen years old than spend 30 grand on this small, weak car. Even though my car guzzles twice the gas this thing does, it would make up for the purchase price. also, the batteries on this thing will have to be replaced every few years, which would not be cheap. Hybrids are not the answer now, there needs to be a new system developed or refined from current experimental tech, like fuel cells and slow discharge condensers to power strong electric motors.

americans can not review a car its imposable to get those econemy figures because u floor it because its so slow. it isnt safe at all the door panels front gaurds everything is light weight so u dont strain the eletric motor. so if ur in a pruis in a crash u might aswell try adn fit into a coke can whats more the engine kicking in is so volient the interor is plastic galor and its as green as a cow the zinc is mined 4 the bateris which causes acid rain but its great because 4wd onwers hate u

Every time I see one of these, I wanna wipe it off the fucking road with my Excursion, you know why? People who drive these think they can tell ME what to drive. LOL, strong off the line response? I test drove one. With my foot down, it took 13 seconds to go from 0-60. My Diesel Excursion (that gets 23 hwy) goes from 0-60 in 8 seconds.

well hate to tell u but ur suv is much kinder to the enviroment then there pruis...and in some cases much more encomical a range rover v8 is beter (not the supercharged) but the pruis is very poorly un recyclied..the zinic for the bateries comes from candian mines. which when mind causes alot of acid rain and all soughts. then the zinc is shiped to china in 2 boats. where its turn into a foam material which is then shiped to japan to aplant where they make the bateries and then put into the car

I test drove this car at night and almost got sideswiped and that sealed my decision to NOT buy it. Tinted windows on this car is a bad idea. The hatchback design limits the visibility of the driver through the rear window and creates a blind spot. Loved everything else about the Prius. I suggest a test drive in the daytime and at night time to see how it feels for you.

I say buy a 250cc motorcycle for 1-2k and get 60mpg. Save your car/truck/whatever for when you actually need to carry lots of people or things. Its pointless for all the people I see commuting to drive a car/suv/truck when its just one person per car...regardless of whether or not it is hybrid.

i really think that a turbo injected v6 HYBRID powered mustang, comaro, and challenger would sell and still be cool. i also think it would convinse people to buy hybrids and AMERICAN muscle cars. think about it. right now the only big hybrid automakers out their are toyota and ford. and the big selling model is the prius. now if so many people are buying a car that look dino-shit just because it has 65 or so mpg, think about how many people would buy the mustang and so forth.

It doesn't matter which vehicle you purchase.... the auto-makers and the oil company still going to screw you up. Buy a V-8 vehicle and you'll save $6,000 (which will make up for the gas price).... Buy a hybrid and it'll cost you $6,000 more (which will make up for the money that the gas company lost). The oil company and the auto-maker walks hand in hand. Either way...you're screwed. HAHAHAHA

How much does the battery cost when it dies, I heard anywhere from 4k-6k I geuss battery makers will be the rich pigs 20 years from now? I wanted fuel economy car so I bought a used 1990 civic dx for 900 bucks, I get 35~mpg mixed country/city and does it very reliably with a fun to drive 5 speed. A used prius around me runs around 20grand, Im already 19,000 ahead of fuel savings and get almost as good of real world mpg and not worry about batteries,and the smart guys my honda battery was 25bucks

The batteries cost around 3 grand. The savings in gas over ten years would pay for the batteries 6.5 times. Also, chevron owns the patent rights to the batteries used in the prius and they basically have restricted the use. They could easily be 500 dollars.

Ugly, impractical, slow and has NO appeal on any level whatsoever. If you want a vehicle that's good on gas mileage without sacrificing style or performance, invest in a Volkswagen TDi. You'll pay more per gallon for diesel fuel but it burns much slower and in the long run will save just as much if not more money on gas than with this travisty of a vehicle. Not to mention a VW is much safer in a collision than the Prius which is a total death trap and one of the most unsafe vehicles on the road.
