Sadly, the composition did very little to reflect the story that supposedly goes along with the piece; and without the commentary, I wouldn't have ever guessed this is what he intended it to represent. Nonetheless, Jacobsen owes the effective delivery of this performance ALL to Kseniya as it was she, not the music, that brought this work to life.

That is pure Persian traditional music. the sand pictures were completely irrelevant...as long as the music has a story of a bird !

In the full length grand finale video at 2:14:28 they actually pan around to show the orchestra as they play, during my favorite part of the piece.
