Sadly, the composition did very little to reflect the story that supposedly goes along with the piece; and without the commentary, I wouldn't have ever guessed this is what he intended it to represent. Nonetheless, Jacobsen owes the effective delivery of this performance ALL to Kseniya as it was she, not the music, that brought this work to life.
why do they keep showing that asshole playing violin? with kseniya up there, i could care less about the orchestra. might as well be an ipod up there for christ sake. camera man totally fucked up
This recording was performed by Brooklyn Riders which looks to be written by the group in association with Kayhan Kalhor who is a Persian musician master
Thank you Jacobson & Siamak for this wonderful piece of music. I wish the sand painting would have depicted the story. Or may be it did, but I didn't get it!!!
This is a video of a symphony. You know, where you LISTEN to the sounds of instruments. 1080p resolution and terrible audio quality? This channel needs to get their priorities strait.
@MistroEduardo Compared to what the audio quality was live, this is nothing. The audio quality isn't really that bad, but it sounds like you're listening to the music behind a wall. It doesn't have that same presence or intensity that the live audio had.
Perfect in all aspects, the music is talking, the performers are doing an indescribably beautiful performance, the lights are majestic, fitting to the piece and the sand art makes it even more unique. Definitely one of the best works you'll ever see.
anyone notice how at 5:59 they cut out early back to the sand artist instead of showing the violinists? In the full length grand finale video at 2:14:28 they actually pan around to show the orchestra as they play, during my favorite part of the piece. Its pretty cool watching how they play with such intensity.
@Tanru2000 Because the general media are too far from intellects like you and I. Just Bieber gets how many million views? Sad to see how the average person are so low in culture
@daniel1c Well isn't music the first thing to go when schools are busy pimping children to sports recruiters? It's corruption from the top to bottom thats destroying culture and the minds of youths.
A genius composition and brilliant performance - both by the YTSO and miss Simonova! Ascending Bird & Stravinsky's Firebird were the highlights of the concert, imho.

That is pure Persian traditional music. the sand pictures were completely irrelevant...as long as the music has a story of a bird !
also Keyhan Kalhor performed it very nice.

neoworker10 11 months ago
@neoworker10 I believe it was the man in the red shirt playing the violin. He at least co-composed it.
Norien711 11 months ago
@neoworker10 it`s originally an iranian folk music and re-arranged by Siamak Aghaie
zaagatoo 5 months ago
Just fanstastic. Sand art and a classical piece of strong beat of the orchestra make a perfect harmony together.
