  • Left unhindered then no doubt a future like the one you describe may occur. It seems to me more likely, given cultural shifts, that any approach such as this will be rejected. Environmental preservation etc will stop the natural world succuming to this fate. Human evolution based on your argument will not occur due to wealth gaps, with the poorest people making up the majority of society. There would need to be some real world benefit for this change in evolution to occur, which I don't see.

  • I am well aware of conservation movements - but think that my views already take adequate account of their existence. Their chances of preventing the progress I describe seem pretty minimal to me.

    Modern-day ecosystems may not vanish entirely. I expect they will be preserved in nature reserves, then museums - and perhaps eventually under simulation.
