nice bender. probably is as easy as it looks. too bad i'm already used to bending the old fashioned way. would have loved to learn pipe bending on this!
Guys at work always get thrown off by 3 point saddles. I find them easy to bend using the centre notch. I make my 3 marks 6 inches apart (8 inches for 1 inch) and the centre mark a large 1/8th past the centre of the pipe I want to saddle over. The outside bends are about 22 degrees and the centre bend about 45, tweak until perfect.
@july0157 The Hoppy Bender is sold by Rack-A-Tiers at Electrical Wholesalers. You can call our office 1-888-939-9991 and we can give you more information.
thank you for your reply , is the stop mark different from the mark if you didnt use the stop ? and ok on the circle , must have taken a long time to bend it in 1/2in increments , wow!
@allenco65 It is quite easy to do, you mark your pipe as per your calculation which will be about 1/2" intervals. Set your stop at 5 or 10 degrees, mark your distance from the pipe and swing stop and maintain that distance for each bend until you make a full circle. I would be willing to sell you a bender through a wholesaler at a very good price to prove my points please call me at Rack-A-Tiers.
unless they actually show the bender making the bends and not some pretty girl showing the pre made bends , ill stick with my klein ---- im thinking the stop is going to disallow bends to be acurate cause you have to bend past to allow for spring back - plus , dont get to reliant on the chart on the bender , its gonna get dinged up and cant read it after a while ---- JMO
@allenco65 The Hoppy Bender will make very accurate bends. All you have to do is touch the stop and the bender allows for the spring back. The bender was invented by a union electrician from York PA, his concept of using the table and swing stop was well though out and saves many hours of pipe bending and wasting pipe with bad bends. We have installed the best label we could find for the chart, but I will admit it will get marked up and some care should be taken when storing the bender.
A good electrician can bend it right the first time...therfore No wasted emt.good for a new helper though...

That is no different than any other hand bender. All they did was add a stop.

I heard that it is impossible to get a snake through a 360 degree circle bend like that. and even harder to pull wires through it

Can You bend on the floor with foot pressure with this bender?
Shortchecker 2 years ago
Yes you can bend on the floor just like a old fashion regular bender. Once you use the Hoppy bender you will always bend this way.
KennethMacLachlan 2 years ago
I think it's a great idea... you can't over bend and end up with a dog leg. I will have to try it for myself. Nice innovation... if it works.
